Ratchet & Clank - Review Thread

Pleasantly surprised by the reviews thought they would be lower with critics dismissing it as just another Ratchet and Clank game, hope it sells well so we can keep getting more R&C games in the future since it's one of the rare franchises that have survived as long as it has.

I got a text from Best Buy today saying that my pre-order will be ready for pickup tomorrow. I am going to try and go pick it up today and pretend like I misread the text to see if they give it to me.

The IGN reviewer say it's sometimes hard to notice a difference between the CGI cut scenes and the real time ones.

LOL. That's what happens when you have your eyes closed as you breath in the awesome of the gameplay. But no. Not even close.
I'm just hoping this rally revitalized the platforming genre.

Now all I can think of is a rally game with Ratchet and Clank lol. Which in no way shape or form is a joke. It would be awesome to have a mariocart/rally goffy game with these peeps now.

It's funny how length only matters when the game is long
A lot of people in here were just waiting to be validated it seems.

Guy that played it says 5 hours = "that's bullshit and I'm going to throw a hissy fit"

IGN says 15 = "SEE I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG"

Like it really would've mattered when the game is $20 less than MSRP and can only go lower from here.

He compared between the real time in-engine cut scenes and the CGI, not the gameplay (which looks fantastic, but obviously cut scenes will always look better)

Sad to see how short it is.

Having played the original back when it came out, I can't help but feel I would crush this in no time then move on to other games.

Never played a R&C game before. Is this something I can play with my 7-yo daughter?

It may be a bit difficult for her. There is tongue in cheek adult humor likely to go over her head, but violence wise there is nothing to be concerned about IMHO.

Wow. 87?? I...was not expecting that.

Dammit, Ratchet. 2016 is just endlessly burning holes in my pocket.
Dark Souls first though.

Seems like it's pretty much the same length as the PS2 games from what I can remember (it has been more than a decade since I've played them though).

Fantastic scores. The visuals looks gorgeous, so it's great to know they nailed the gameplay as well. Great job.

Better hope they sell it to you under the table then, since their system won't allow them to sell it before it's street date

I am slightly disappointed. I hoped they will break tradition and use real time cut scenes. But they stuck with CGI ones.

There are both, they wanted to put some bits from the movie, probably in order to advertise it through the game, it's not because they wanted prettier cut scenes, like I said, there are real time cut scenes as well.

I've been saying Insomniac always delivers on the mainline titles. Not surprised in the slightest. Preload is ready to rock.

A Dream come true! Now hopefully the sales follow the high scores so Sony can greenlight the other 2/3 of the PS2 platforming trio with Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter games
and movies
.

I thought Ratchet was dying a slow death last gen.

Good to see them bounce back modestly. I hope they can continue like this and that it proves successful.

I impulsed pre-order the game, even though I loved R&C but I was looking to get it when it's like $20 or something since DS3 is here to tide me over until UC4. I have no regrets now and I don't know why I'd even bother hessitating in the first place!
