Modern Warfare Remaster confirmed via emoji

Are the people who like MW2 so much the people for whom that was their first COD? Cannot fathom any reason why one would prefer that to COD4 otherwise.
Must be.

How anyone could enjoy being sniped by a UMP45 across the map with the person getting a airstrikes, harrier then ac130 with every match being exactly that, is beyond me

CoD4 was my first, but I prefer the greater variety of MW2. Thought the maps were more interesting too with all the secrets and whatnot. And the campaign had more memorable moments. All Ghillied Up was cool, but there's not that much else I remember from CoD4. It was all around a little too vanilla for my tastes.

You guys remember this?

Maybe some of this will be true this time.

If they are releasing a modern warfare collection I will only play MW1 anyway. In MW2 everything was broken and or op as hell. Don't say after the patch it was fine either. It stayed broken. People would just sit in a dark corner camping to get their nuke. MW3 was just crap.

The opening with you, the president, getting executed?
The ship capsizing (to this day, I cannot play that part without needing to tilt my head as the vessel turns on its side)?
The nuke and its aftermath?

To be honest, I don't much care for the gameplay in CoD4's singleplayer - there are simply too many cases of infinite "monster closets" - but it had a very strong presentation with some fairly unique elements for the time.

Would still far prefer to have CoD1/UO to 3 remastered. The multiplayer in those games far surpassed that in MW1 onwards.

I remember the nuke and the execution. Remember the ship level but don't remember it capsizing. Cool stuff, but even back then I don't remember my mind being blown. I did kinda feel like the odd one out there though. My friends were going crazy for the game. I wouldn't have even gotten Modern Warfare 2 but I played some multiplayer at a friend's place and I was sold.

Wrong.
Dead Wrong.
Plenty of people enjoy the single player campaigns and would buy just for that. There is no way they would risk cannibalizing sales of their yearly release by including a full blown multiplayer pack in a remaster.

HOWEVER, what I CAN see Activision doing is making certain multiplayer content exclusive on the yearly CoD for those that bought the remaster.

In fact, it could be a good selling point "The only way to play exclusive throwback maps in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare"

Not really dead wrong. The COD4 remaster will have multiplayer. I don't know why that's really a question.

Don't you have to buy Infinite Warfare to get the COD4 remaster anyway? How would that cannibalize sales?

You forgot the best sequence--All Ghillied Up.

Edit: nevermind, I see what you were replying to.

So can we expect a graphical overhaul? Because CoD4 would look very awful IMO. Sure 1080p gives a nice image quality boost, but this Assets etc really need some help

I dont believe it will be part of it. I expect Activision to sell it separately.

omg
If we get a MW2 remaster

I will get the nuke
I swear to god
I came so close
but now I feel I can
best killstreak ever

edit:

IW and the rest of Activision have the manpower to do that. I would be disappointed if they didn't give a remaster of a game that sold 10+ million a graphical boost to bring it more in line with today.

It doesn't have to be COD4 vs MW2. The two can co-exist as two of the best games of all-time.

COD4 is far more grounded and focused, with less content but it felt much more balanced.

MW2 is absolutely mental, but in the "perfect chaos" sort of way. Yes it was unbalanced and some things were broken, but fuck me was it fun regardless.

Both games had near perfect map rotations too. Maybe 3/4 maps between the two games I didn't utterly love.

If I had to rank my top 3 online FPS it would probably be:

1. Counter-Strike (1.5 through to GO, love them all in different ways)
2. Modern Warfare 2
3. COD4

As long as Activison don't mess them up (eg add lots of new elements which takes away from what the games originally were), I will play the fuck out of a remaster of COD4 or MW2.

Its possible to like MW2 over MW1 without it being the first one you played.

Yes...I played CoD 3(Campaign), CoD4 and WaW before MW2...however I prefer MW2, because every gun is unique and has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Activision is releasing the Modern Warfare collection to satisfy COD fans but have been working with EA to create a super COD-Battlefield hybrid.

That would be insane.

I believe it's going to be Single Player only with with some unlockable stuff for this years COD .
We all know this is how it's going to be.... to the people that say that what's the point of releasing it without the Multiplayer...

Then what would be the point of releasing a new COD this year ?

I think you overestimate how much Modern Warfares multiplayer would take away from Infinite Warfares multiplayer.

Why release Black Ops when MW/MW2 were out ? Why release BLOPS 2, when BLOPS1 was out etc. I just don't seeing it significantly hurting the new games playerbase. Hell Activision have done it before including COD1 with MW2 and it had active multiplayer as well.

COD4 is one of the all time great shooters both in single player and online.

A port of that game that is exploit free would be amazing.

MW2 is th.....

This is how much of your post would have been if typed in MW2 because some fucker would have killed you half way across the map with akimbo shotguns

COD4 Had not the SPAS-12.

LOL COD4.

On a serious note, helicopter chaining in COD4 was a bigger problem than any of MW2's killstreak rewards. If you die in MW2, you can't call in a chopper and sit in a corner and earn another.

Also MW2 maps were much better than COD4's. The good of COD4 was packaged into MW2 and the rest left behind. Which was most of them.

On a much more serious note...

...COD4 had not the SPAS-12.
