I want multiplayer just as much as anyone else but I don't think I can reasonably expect it unless Activision wants their future Call of Duty titles to suffer as a result of people remaining on the older multiplayer servers (COD4,MW2/3); therefore I'd be perfectly fine with graphically overhauled COD4, MW2 and MW3.
At this point I think all Call of Duty multiplayer should be turned into a service with constant updates through three different types of multiplayer experiences (modern, advanced, black ops, for example), while single player games still release. But that might affect their sales too much, so eh.

They must have some demographic info showing that they no longer retain early COD players to do this. But I don't think this will bring many back. It sounds cool, but once I got over the nostalgia, Im realizing that its just the basic gameplay model Im sick of, not the maps, not the perks, supers, jumping etc..I must have spawn-run-shoot-kill-die-repeat 10,000s of times.
Doing it with a Golden Eagle again on Wet Works would be cool for a few rounds though.

Plenty of people enjoy the single player campaigns and would buy just for that. There is no way they would risk cannibalizing sales of their yearly release by including a full blown multiplayer pack in a remaster.
HOWEVER, what I CAN see Activision doing is making certain multiplayer content exclusive on the yearly CoD for those that bought the remaster.
In fact, it could be a good selling point "The only way to play exclusive throwback maps in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare"

I'm not really an online person, but COD4 is the most addicted I've ever been to an online game. I played it religiously. The campaign was pure awesomeness.
I started back playing a few months ago on PS3 with some friends. It was depressing to not be able to find any Hardcore Search & Destroy matches, but I played Hardcore Team Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch when it couldn't find Hardcore.
I don't think Activision is that stupid to only have the campaign (although the campaign is awesome) for this remaster. Lot's of people bought these MW games for the multiplayer. It just wouldn't make sense to only have the campaign.

Assuming it comes with the multi-player intact, I'm all in. Granted COD4 had its own fair share of problems. For me the biggest issue was the lack of any reliable way to prevent the winning team from dominating the air with constant chopper call-ins. I was often the only person my team to try and actually take them down with an entire drum of RPD rounds and rockets.
But that's a nit-pick. The maps were great and it was the last COD before the series went killstreak crazy.

Why would anyone expect the multiplayer components of these games to be included in the remasters? Activision isn't hitting that button until COD appears to be on life support.

To a large audience outside of GAF, why wouldn't they? It was in the game then, it should be in the game now is a mentality I appreciate isn't unreasonable

Pretty sure it will have multiplayer guys. Why would they bother remaking only the campaign for an old ass game? Wouldn't even be worth it.
Especially considering this franchise is known for its multi-player almost entirely because of how transformative COD4 was. It'd be like if Bungie released the Halo 2 Anniversary Remaster without Halo 2's multi-player.
Perhaps another team is porting/remastering this to next-gen. I remember the Activision CEO said he'd love to play CoD4 and BO1 again on next-gen consoles, but everyone is too focused on creating the newer CoDs. I also believe we could be getting CoD4 remastered as an standalone, so people can purchase without going for the Legacy Edition.

Agree - and they probably know this, so my guess is it will be bundled with a new one. I've given up on CoD, but a remastered MW1 will pull me right back in. Easily my most played CoD.

I still play MW3 and BO2 along with BO3.
So, I will probably be playing the new IW along with COD4 remaster this November.

Nope, it won't. PSN on PS4 is running on different infrastructure than PS3. Same goes for XB1. The only reasons why old CoD servers are hacked because of exploits on those old-gen systems. I'm sure there are exploits for PS4/XB1 but no one has succeeded. So we're golden for now.
This is instantly killed since we "know" the next COD is super futuristic lol.
But that would be cool if it was what they did.
