Rumor: First look at Watch Dogs 2’s new protagonist

Which iconic clothing item would you most like to purchase on uPlayFashion?

I don't think people are "offended" but it doesn't look gereat and people aren't going to give Ubi or Watch Dogs the benefit of the doubt. Aiden Pierce was a terrible character. Until we actually know his personality, this is all we have to go on.
He's taking revenge on the football team for all those years of bullying him in the locker room. Now that he has the knowledge he's going to hack their bank accounts and ruin their credit history.

Probably the only logical explanation for this violent, guttural reaction people are having. I think the only reason I am even holding out any hope for this game is I hope they pull an AC2 situation with it.

If you are under 40 this look should not be puzzling to you. It has been a common look for decades, especially in the inner city.

People in this thread are pissing me off. The guy's look his a clean one that any guy can pull off and it's affordable too. Even the glasses is something that has been around since the 90's.

This is an iconic ensemble in NYC. Any man or woman no matter how much money they make, race, or appearance can pull this look off.

As a kid whose family shared a house with relatives for a while because we are immigrants who didn't come here with much, this is a look that became a staple of my wardrobe because it's clean and cheap. I still pull this out when going to a party.

I'm happy to see a game using this outfit. Took long enough.

Let me dismiss everything you say by calling you a hipster.

I was hoping for a costomizable character so I could be a girl. Oh well. Enjoyed WD1 but don't see much of a point to get WD2 if I can't play as a girl since the main reason I played wasn't for a story.

...or they could be going down the Mr.Robot route of a socially awkward introverted genius.

So only white ppl can work?

oh wow, no, infact someone like Idris Elba would have looked nice too for the "old" kickass dude. They were the first actors that came to my mind, i wasn't even thinking about the skin tone of the actual protagonist -_-

I really don't see how people see hipster in this. I've met plenty of people who dress like this and hell, I dress similar to this on occasion. Dude looks like an average city dwelling 20-something. He doesn't stand out but It makes sense within the context of Watch Dogs for the character to be inconspicuous.
Ppl still not getting it's a black dude?
To be fair, I thought he was East Asian until I looked up the guy playing him. I am on my phone looking at an offscreen shot though.

I've been following along with this thread from the beginning face palming the entire time. Don't get worked up over this nonsense. I saw the picture and didn't even think twice about it because the look makes so much sense (if it's even real). There are thousands of this guy walking around every city, plus or minus an accessory.

I wonder if this character will get the redesign that Aiden did throughout development. The Aiden from the reveal looked even more like the type of guy you don't want to see walking around with a trenchcoat on than what was released.

Considering how close it is to E3 and that this game is apparently coming out this year, if this is real its probably the final.

The game will be impossible to play, I'll repeatedly kill him as I want him to fail

That's exactly why I bailed out of the first one before the end of Act 2. I drove Aiden off a bridge somewhere in the north of the map, shut the game off and in my fiction he was never heard from ever again,

The cap and bandana looked fine on the guy from the first game. It's the rolled up jacket sleeves and glasses making him look like a goofy hipster, and the combination of them all just doesn't look right.

I've never really done it ever until Tomb Raider reboot, I hated new lara so much, I got more pleasure hurling her onto spikes and rocks than helping her along to another terrible cutscene. Her friends on the boat were even worse, I wanted to murder every last one of them. Makes it hard to progress.

^Uh...okay. TR 2013 was the best the series has ever been.

What was wrong with playing as me? :(

I hate new Lara, game is irrelevant. I'm english, and absolutely no one talks like her, or her friends, she was a whiney, ridiculous idiot, one minute crying about a rabbit, then headshotting 20 soldiers, then calming evaluating a historical pot I found on top of a hut.

I get it, there's terrible lighting in that awkward perspective off-screen shot. I just thought people might have at least read the thread.

Would this have been more to everyone's liking?

This I cannot disagree with

I think I managed an hour, I at least showed it to friends so they could share my contempt for the character

Really not liking the hipster glasses. Smaller frames would be fine, but the look just doesn't mesh right.

The gameplay was amazing, took everything that Uncharted got right and made it better. Being able to examine artifacts and calmly analyze them was also a big step up, as was enemies not simply being bullet sponges. Damn good game.

Not surprised you have an issue with her accent because you're English. Surprised it ruined the game for you though, it was "parrfect" as Lara would say.

I'm happy I'm not alone.

Honestly, as crass as I found Nathan Drake the mass murderer (my body count for UC collection was over 2 thousand), and the awful english accents in part 3, I found UC a much more fun game. You just ran through it, enjoyed it. Tomb Raider stalls you at every turn to find 5 nests, burn a load of boxes to find nuts and tiny screws, its over serious. Uncharted is a romp, TR is a slog. Anyway.

I really don't see how people see hipster in this.

To most, hipster is just a pejorative for someone who's fashion and sense of style is different from what they like. It's easy to dismiss their claims.

Anyway, if this comes out to be true, at least it's a black protagonist this time. Baby steps until a black woman protagonist, and not just in a tiny game.

Between this and the Division, it feels like Ubisoft has a weird obsession with street clothes.

Gotta get that hype baseball cap preorder bonus.

Ubisoft character branding… fucking awful.

Just take some random guy off the street that is average looking who isn't particularly well dressed nor fashion concious and pay them a bit of money for their image rights and use them and their dress sense. It would make a lot more sense in terms of a hacker seeing as doing anything covertly you would want to look as mundane as possible.

It is the same as 'hay I'm an assassin look at me with my massive hood, and clothes that stand out a mile from every single character because only character artists dress people like this'. I'd advise the character artists, art director and creative director to go do some day time large scale graffiti and see how they address their choice of clothing when there is a real chance of being arrested.

I kinda like it actually. He just looks like a nerd that keeps himself in shape, basically. I don't know what people want honestly. If his bandanna was a darker color it would make more sense though as that makes him stand out too much. But really, Watchdogs is about being a hacker that does dirty work and can also shoot when necessary, I don't see why this design doesn't work for that.

He's missing a plaid shirt to go with his Buddy Holly glasses. Other than that, he's fine. I'm more worried about the lack of variety in the city (if the first is anything to go by).

Fiddling with your cell phone isn't the same as spraying graffiti. Aside from the way he dressed, Aiden was very inconspicuous when doing hacking shit. This guy just looks like a normal dude who would fiddle with his cell phone on the street. I don't understand the need for him to look more everyman than he already does? I live in Chicago (the place where WD1 took place) and more people dress like this guy than they do Aiden Pearce.

Eh, I kind of like the character design. Hopefully they are more interesting and likeable as a character than Aiden was. I'm also curious as to what everyone would do differently. Sure is a lot of criticism in here without any real suggestions for improvement. He looks like a believable young adult in current/very near future California. What else were you expecting for a game set in the real-world? Generic white guy in a hoodie like the lead from Mr. Robot? Because that oozes creativity, right?

I dont know what I was expecting but I'm still disappointed.
He's looks just like the last guy, except with Hipster glasses.

Hopefully his personality shines through, though I dont expect much out of a Ubisoft protagonist.

Also the whole concept of Hacker using firearms and a phone in tandem never really gelled with me. I would have liked something more experemental for this franchise like dual protags, one doing the hacking the other focusing on shooting and you have to switch between them or use them together simultaneously.
