Did they die and reincarnate as legendaries....?
638px-XY_Olympia.png

This is Generation 7, Blaine is the 1st 7th gym leader, Olympia was the last gen's 7th Gym Leader. Blaine shares similarities with Sungalio with his color scheme, his mustache, and being fire gym leader and Sungalio is presumably a Fire type as well (Sun = Fire), while Olympia shares similarities with colors, her cape, and her Psychic gym with a possible Psychic type Lunalaa.

But this connection makes me raise the question, what if these gym leaders reincarnated into legendaries? Or is this connection more like Ash Greninja where Sungalio and Lunalaa are given makeovers to match their trainers appearance with synergy?

Thoughts people!

The only reason I could see them not doing it is because making a walking animation for all 800+(?) Pokémon would be too much work.

For the first six gens they can just use the animations from Super Mystery Dungeon. They could also easily afford to do those animations.

Either way hopefully all of the trainers have battle models at least.

So where did the rumor come from about the grass owl, fire cat, sea lion, sun lion and moon bird? And the rumor about Hawaii? Because... well, it's all true, lol.

Those rumors were from trademarks. The Hawaii thing wasn't a rumor, it was an educated guess based on things from the reveal trailer like the Hawaiian license plates.

I wonder what the fossil Pokemon are going to be this time around. TEAM LITTEN.

Interesting read.

It does snow in Hawaii. They have mountains. https://weather.com/news/news/hawaii-snow-mauna-kea

"It snows here every year, but only at the very summits of our 3 tallest volcanoes (Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and Haleakala)," said Ken Rubin, geology and geophysics professor at the University of Hawaii. "The snow level almost never gets below 9,000 feet in Hawaii during the winter, but since these mountains are taller than 13,000 feet, 13,000 feet, and 10,000 feet, respectively, they get dusted with snow a few times a year. It rarely stays on the ground for more than a few days though."

I sense a ashy fire/ice typing coming out of this.

Pokemon trademarked the names and in Japanese written language their letters are more like symbols and to spell things out they put them together. (Best way I can explain it.) So in the trademark we will see part of the letters which mean owl or lion, not to mention we look at other languages as well to get meanings from them as well.

This might be the overall best looking batch of base form starters we've gotten since Gen IV, if only because of the owl and cat
, the latter of whom I imagine will somehow turn into another Fire/Fighting Pokémon after Gen VI avoided that...maybe a Dark/Fire if we're lucky
but does anyone else get the feeling that, aesthetically, this is what X & Y should have looked like instead of the more stylized character designs we got in that game? It's hard to tell what mechanical differences there are between the two generations but it definitely looks a whole lot better than that game did, if only for the more dynamic (and not bird's eye view) camera angles at play.

Either way, I look forward to being disappointed in what features they cut along with the starter's final evolution and terrible minigames used for EV training!

How the fuck do you catch ice Pokemon in Hawaii?

Carefully.

I'm gonna set myself up for disappointment here and assume the Battle Frontier is gonna be one of the explorable islands. I'm ready Game Freak.

Why is the Japanese version of the trailer so, so much better?

I wonder if Shohei and Hoku (?), the names of the kids in the trailer, are the actual Japanese names of the M.C. and Rival? I also wonder if perhaps the M.C. is gonna end up being, like Shohei, a new face to the region who moved from the Japanese Pokemon Regions?

Dear gods what is that abomination of a water starter?

I don't like it either, though this art did make me dislike it less:

Well, they're clearly not from Alola since they're welcomed. But their origin is up in the air for now.

It tells a charming story instead of just being a pure info dump.

So, it looks like the Trainer now sticks around in the background the entire fight like in Colosseum/XD...guess this means every Trainer hopefully has a 3D model now.

Both have their merits. The US version gives more to analyze and presents the info matter-of-fact while the JP trailer sets stage by giving us a cute anecdote to relate the game to reality.

Hopefully this means battle quotes are gonna make a return as well.

Honestly surprised that they actually showed some Pokemon. This trailer should have been the one they showed at the direct. Moon legendary is dope, not a fan of the sun one. You could have told me it was a mega evo of pyroar and I would believe you. I'm liking the starters so far, especially the owl, need to see final evos before deciding though

Hoping every trainer has winning/losing animations like in XD too. Makes even generic trainers seem much more lively, especially if the animations are as good as they were for trainers with in-battle models in gen 6.

I also realize the game basically looks the same as the show now, which is kind of cool. About the same proportions.

So an even more archipelago-focused region than Hoenn? I'm down. Team Litten for sure and damn the female protagonist looks super cute in fanart!

So watching this trailer was basically the first thing I did when I got up and I have to say I'm pretty stoked.

First off, the new starters are really great IMO. Rowlett is an easy pick for me and Litten is pretty great too. The water starter isn't my favorite first evo ever, but I still like him and look forward to seeing his evolutions.

Also the trainer model is awesome. While I hope they bring some customization back, the height and proportions speak to a character that probably isn't 10 again. As someone who has been a fan since gen 1, I can get behind a slightly older player character.

I dig the Hawaiian setting a lot. The islands have a huge variation of animals and climates and I feel like GF could really cut loose with the environments.

I dig the mascots a lot as well. That lion one has some very interesting things going on that I don't think we've really seen before. Same for the bat looking one too and I think overall both mascots just look cool.

This is probably one of the best Pokémon reveals in recent memory and I'm very excited to get more info about them.

I hope you mean "It looks like this is another character that isn't 10" and not "finally a character that isn't 10". The protagonists tend to get taller, thus likely older, with each generation judging by the dex size comparisons. BW's protagonists were designed to be ~16, but have been said to be ~14. And XY's protagonists are at least 17, since there's a 16 year old character that's younger than them.
