Homefront: The Revolution review thread

So it seems like the game has solid ideas, it'd just the execution that's shit.

Oh well, might pick it up for a tenner. Other than that I don't think the Nork term is all that bad. If a country gets invades you'd expect hate towards them.

Would we call it a AAA game?

agreed - this is not a AAA game

Ouch... This game was never on my radar and I didn't play the first one. I'm still looking forward to playing through the campaign but I'm super glad I got this game for free...

They canceled all of these orders - and it made me sad lol

I got this game for 30 dollars so at that bargain price it's not that bad as a palette cleanser how ever for 60 dollars this game is officially a bomba.

Gamestop video review in progress actually was surprisingly positive given some of these incredibly low scores. I also liked how they showed how the different areas looked, eg it was cool seeing a very colorful setting with brightly colored trees like in watchdogs.

The jim sterling glitch videos are hilarious though. At first I thought he had slowed the video down for dramatic effect with the person running in slow motion but then a regular person walked by at normal speed lol.

If this game actually contains all of
Timesplitters 2
, I may have to buy it.

Just seeing that game in action again makes me so sad. I would kill, KILL for a new TimeSplitters, or even just ports of the old ones!

I mean, I'm even considering this game for this alone!!

Based on Eurogamer's review, the game devolves into the exact same pattern i was hoping it would not. One note xenophobia turning into brutalization.

Basically the resistance just turns out to be a more bloodthirsty force than the occupyers and probably just turned into a gang of thugs that ended up putting the civilians under their own martial law after they were done with the occupying force.

It reminds me of FC4 except FC4 actually had a lot of self inflection about that.

This game is damn near unplayable on PS4. Framerate is some of the worst I've ever seen, and I'm not even that susceptible to bad framerate, just when it's really noticeable.

Plus this game has been boring as shit so far. Avoid this one.

Holy shit, anyone watching Dansgaming right now? The game almost literally melted down, the lighting engine went bonkers or something. So weird.

Also a ton of mini-stuttering/loading. This game needed way, way more polish.

It blurs the crosshair because of a botched depth of field effect, holy hell.. You literally cannot see your target when aiming down the sight.

Yeah noticed. Impossible to see if its friend or foe. How the fuck did that even pass testing? ADS is kinda critical to be effective.

Not to mention the lag, its freezing constantly during combat.

Man i wanted this to be so good. Like a cool B movie plot. Why'd you have to be so bad? ;(

What a shitshow.

I held out the smallest shred of hope that this would at least be decent in a B-tier sense. But major performance woes, long frequent stutters and hitches, a lack of finishing and polish evaporate even that hope, and that's before talking about the actual meat and potatoes gameplay.

And then there's the timing of its release and the natural comparisons to the other games out now, like the super fast, slick and polished DOOM and gods-damned-you've-got-to-be-fucking-kidding-me-astonishing Uncharted 4. Those are shadows that even great games can't find their way out from under.

What a car wreck.

You know how people get together with friends, drink, and watch a super shitty movie to laugh at? This is like that, but a video game!

This is closer to a Batman vs. Superman level of bad though, where it's just awful.

I want the video game equivalent of Anaconda. Jon Voight greatest actor of all time.

Who was the genius that decided it would be a good idea to put this out anywhere near the release of Doom and UC4? From the reviews, it sounds like this could've used a delay until late summer or something for polish.

Your opinion, I think that the resurgence of the indie scene with recent hits like Rocket league, Enter the gungeon, super hot and such show that creativity can be a driving force in sales and engagement. The death of the industry are these overblown marketing budgets that all sing the same song, meanwhile the previously mentioned games enjoy fantastic sales based on a genuine community alone.
It's not an opinion. Those games are able to thrive because of the broad base of gaming more mainstream titles are able to create. This industry can't exist in the back of the hardcore alone.

Damn, I was hoping this might at least be enjoyable as a B-tier shooter ala Timeshift. Seems like it's just plain bad.

But...Best Buy is still giving away that $10 gift card with purchases and I already have Overwatch and No Man's Sky paid off. I still may bite.

DOOM is a much better option IMO.

The same genius looking for an excuse for its poor sales, and not wanting to sink any more money into something that was destined to flop.

I know you manoeuvre the industry at some level so you have a better finger on the pulse then me. It just, i feel the writing is on the wall when it comes to these kind of games. There's no more room for more mediocrity. The stakes / budgets are too high, the market is saturated, and it's anything but the 'save bet' when it comes to another shooter game with checklist design. Even when targeting the mainstream, this sounds like the odds are staked immensly against a game like this...

not surprised at the negative reviews. This game reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever. Multiple developer turnovers will make any game fail.
