Heroes 2 too, please!

It will come over for the PS4 for sure, as the first one came over and got decent sales I think. The Vita version was one I was worried about but considering Builders Vita version is coming over, I feel that cements the Vita version of Heroes 2 will come over as well :).

Heroes 1 tanked in the west on both PS4 and Steam. I still think we'll get Heroes 2 though, SE is building to XI.

That's a shame :(.

Hope Heroes 2 does well if it comes over, as it would be a nice lead-in for DQXI next year on PS4.

It's still a problem. Nintendo and other 3rd parties proved JRPG's are a success on 3DS, yet Square is like 'nah, we'll localize these other things on the perceived money makers' that end up doing poorly. I also don't like this idea of Nintendo paying for a localization that will eventually end up on another platform (DQ7R in English will be on mobile at some point).

It's just a level of commitment to the brand that bothers and I just have this concern that it's going to spread to DQXI when it comes over here.
Unless you are invested in Nintendo, there is absolutely no reason to be concerned about this point. Or are you one of the fanboys who hates to see their favorite company investing on games that eventually go multiplatform?

Never been interested in Minecraft but slap a DQ aesthetic on it and suddenly I want it XD

Same with me... models and art style look great and much more appealing than Minecraft. Though it would be weird if this was the game to finally break DQ in the west...

Edit: Wait! I thought this was the thread for The Last Guardian.

I have no idea, sorry.

I just checked a japanese version lets play.

Apparently you can choose to be either a boy or a girl

And you can choose the color of your skin, hair & eyes

Though you can not choose your hair style

Was never interested in Minecraft, but this looks like it has a story and objectives, and a much more appealing art style, so I'll definitely check it out when it releases.

I remember the 8-4 guys really loving it despite never really getting into Minecraft either - which for me has been enough to be anticipating this game's international release. Glad to see it come over!

I'm so torn. I want to play this game really bad, but hate buying digital. Dunno if I want to buy a foreign physical or local digital... hm.

Asian English save me please

Asian version is already out and I'm afraid it doesn't have English sub option. They might add a patch though.

No. I just question Square's motivations in regards to Dragon Quest in the west. How can't you blame them for all the lack of anything they've done? They had all this momentum with the series and they just stopped supporting it over here for a long time. Now they're kinda supporting it again, but still relying on another company to do the work they should be doing. It doesn't strike me as sustainable or as being confident with it.

I'll probably pick this up when it hits $20. I'm not a big DQ guy, but i'm interested in the Minecraft-esque nature. Looks much more appealing to me than Minecraft does.

I also would like to inform you kids of the pacing. This game is, to me, perfectly paced. I didn't finish it because I was waiting on this announcement, but I got about halfway through. It introduces new elements that completely flip the game at the right moments.

Man, October doesn't seem like the right place to throw this title out there. But I doubt they will put much marketing behind it so might as well put it out during the Holiday ramp up.

There's already an Asian version? I don't know how I missed that, honestly.

Well that's a bummer. I could probably play in Japanese but I'm not sure.

Sounds like an utterly fascinating game. I played a bit of Minecraft and the idea seemed great, but I didn't particularly like the aesthetics so I never stuck around. This solves all that and I am really feeling the charm. I'm there day 1.

There's a story and such, but you could get around pretty easily in the Japanese version. A guide exists on the Import OT if you are interested, and it's fairly easy to tell what the quests are requiring of you.

I never expected this to make it over, especially on the Vita. Wonder if they'll bring over other games if this and World of Final Fantasy both do well on Vita.

It's not hard to play in Japanese except some of the items you have to make to put in rooms are not very obvious if you can't read. A guide + Google Translate usually helps.

Definite buy for me. I have the Japanese version but at times it can be quite frustrating, it'll be nice to just play this in English this time.

I will probably get it to show my support for Vita SE titles, even though my primary objective is actually DQH2. However, I'm also pretty interested in the DQ+Minecraft formula (the story behind the gameplay and a very good art design should make up for the reasons why I've never approached Minecraft),so I think it will be an enjoyable purchase as well.
That said, I just hope SAO:HF won't come out on October as well, because in that case DQB will have to wait for a blank month release-wise

Great news! Vita day one!

This and World of Final Fantasy for Vita coming in the next few months is amazing.

Now SQEX, announce XII HD for PS4/Vita coming next year pls.

I can only hope.

The localization of the vita version doesn't surprise me at all, i have always had the impression that recently SE just skips small and mobile-level japanese games

All the people being stubborn on physical vita edition, this was the only realistic way you were going to get this game at all. Look at DQ Heroes. Fine, don't buy this on Vita, don't bitch when DQ Heroes 2 for Vita or any Squeenix titles for Vita don't get localized at all in the future due to even poorer sales though. Vita is not the hill you plant your "physical or die" flag on. The system is NOT in that position to afford that luxury.

A physical Vita copy of the version is the only realistic way they're going to get my money. It works out in their favor anyway since they're getting more money from the physical PS4 copy I'll be buying instead.

The few people who will skip it because of that won't make a difference. Let people spend their money how they want.

What's the gameplay loop in this one? Like is Minecraft style directionless building (I had a lot of fun with Minecraft not shitting on it if so) or is there some larger goal ala traditional DQ games?

It combines the building elements from Minecraft with the RPG elements from Dragon Quest. You have to build a town, protect it from enemies, interact with NPCs, accept quests and tasks, defeat certain enemies... you always have a goal to fulfill, and then you can do directionless building too and share if with other players.

That sounds amazing.
