The Flash S2 |OT2| Jays of Future Past - Tuesdays 8/7c

I drew up a possible look at what Wally's Kid Flash costume might look like, based on the common costume elements we've seen across the speedsters on this show

No matter how you feel about Arrow, they do a lot better with relationships like Diggle and Lyla, Roy and Thea, Walter and Moira even. They spend more time on showing why these people actually work.

Pity they couldn't apply the same handling to their lead's romances.

Wally costume above looks cool.

I just hope S3 gets the show back to the greatness that was Flash S1. Before S2, I would have said Flash had one-upped DD as the best comic book TV show.

After seeing both S2s of both shows, DD has definitely got Flash beat right now, despite the flaws that DD S2 has.

Even there you have a mixed bag. Laurel and Oliver, and Felicity and Oliver had way more natural relationship buildup and breakdown than any Barry one. They lasted way longer than Barry. Even Oliver and huntress felt longer. Shado and Sara were handled well. The only one that reminds me of how little they mean in flash in terms of support is the cop that got shot in the first season. And this isn't a good thing if they want to sell Barry and Iris or Barry and anyone. It feels like something they will do one episode and then five later they will have broken up because of reasons. Like how they literally reset Barry and Iris in the finale.

As a Barry and Iris comic fan the weird handling of it in this show made it hard to take in at first. Barry likes Iris before he becomes her foster sibling, easy enough, but the way the show presents it Iris sees Barry like a brother for ten+ years and then wakes up one morning and thinks he's hot.

I kind of got used to it as the show progressed but during season 1 it was kind of odd.

Gives some weird Dexter season 6 vibes.

I think flash season 2 was a much better season for the flash than dare devil season 2 was for DD. The Punisher stuff and the scenes with Fisk were the only truly great parts of DD season 2 to me while there was only 3 episodes of the flash I didn't like. Outside of the legends setup early on and the end of versus zoom I really enjoyed season 2 of the flash. I do think the first season of both shows are better than season 2.

This is actually kind of a recurring thing.

The "beta couples" are almost always more stable, because those relationships aren't used as plot hooks, they're just... relationships.

Yep.

Usually, they serve as a barometer for how well or poorly the main (alpha) couple is doing and offer possible solutions to any problems. Hit a Poor Communication Kills? The Beta Couple had that, but worked it out. Caught cheating? Losing "the spark" for your Love Interest? The Beta Couple had that, and here's how they got through it. In addition to all of that, if there is sexual tension that the Official Couple is oblivious about, the Beta Couple is all the more aware of it and will try to help them embrace it.

For these reasons, things tend to go more smoothly for them, letting them work as catalysts for the alpha couple's romance. That said, the Beta Couple is usually a source of comedy, and as such have more freedom to be unconventional and kinky and less problem (or at least conflict) prone than the alpha couple.

Big, big thing in TV shows. Your main romance always falls into nonsense, because that's how TV writers perceive conflict and drama.

Yup.

Comics:
Earth 2 - Justice Society's world
Earth 3 - Evil versions of good guys (Although sometimes the Antimatter Universe fills this niche)

Arrowverse:

Earth 2- Evil versions of good guys
Earth 3- Justice Society's world

It kind of had to be like that to support the Jay fakeout

TV Zoom was kind of a mix of Speedsters
He stole Jay Garrick's identity
He was named Hunter Zolomon
He was dependent on Velocity formula for his speed like The Rival
He drained the essence of Speedsters to gain speed like Crime Syndicate's Johnny Quick
He became the Black Flash at the end

Wait. We don't know for sure the JSA is from Earth 3. All we know is that Jay is from there.

Would be kind of sad if the Crime Society doesn't exist (Earth 4?). I highly doubt we'll ever see characters like Owlman because anything "Wayne" related is clearly verboten in the Arrowverse.

now we know why the bad guy on season 3 wont have any powers.....because barry got no fucking powers either, i sense arrow season 3 levels of cringe coming this way

Have they confirmed who the season 3 big bad will be or do we wait until a Comic Con panel to find out?
We'll have to wait, for the moment, he'll have to go by some vague description. I don't think I even read casting notices for next year for FLash. Which could mean I'm not looking very well, or they are bringing in him later, or he is already in the show.

Nice is a stretch, but yeah they wanted to bring the helmet in somehow and I guess it's better that Jay wears that instead of his 52 version.
Which reminds me, still no clue what the War of the Americas is.

Now that you guys mention the helmet, Eobard Wells saw it and something like "oh no" or "that's not good", I don't quite remember. I wonder if he knew that Jay was actually Zoom.

"That's my cue to leave"

I think people read too much into it. To me it was just a sign that he needed to go before more things came through the wormhole.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Oh god no I hate him so much.

"Ugh, you didn't even know that you can [utter nonsense] if you run fast enough to [more nonsense]? Uuuuuuuuuugh, are you 5?"

That's an interesting opinion. Now put it back on the shelf and let's never look at it again.

Yup.

Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine handled this right.

After a point, they both say 'fuck it' and make the Alpha couple the most stable couple in the show.

Usually it takes most shows 5 - 6 seasons to do that. Took Scrubs 8.
