NPD Sales Results for May 2016

NPD only accounts for retail sales. There was an Overwatch retail release and it was probably way way behind PS4 and Xbox One.

Yep. Amiibo have more shelf space than all of PC retail combined in any store I have been in (Gamestop, Best Buy, etc) during the past year or two.

Steamspy lists the total owners for Valkyria at a bit over 800k on Steam.

http://steamspy.com/app/294860

If you have a Steamspy account, you can see that 40% of the owners are from the US on the Geography page.

Oh whoops, thought you meant PS3. Never mind me then.

Maybe I have to wait for another 5 years before people are comfortable discussing its actual PS3 LTD (which I've never been able to fully nail down and verify) like in the classic NPD threads.

So nobody else noticed that The Division isnt even in the top 10 for the month? Talk about a steep sales decline. Seems to be the very definition of a flash in the pan.

Edit:
I just noted that The Division is out of TOP TEN................

ouch

Ah I see Ryng noticed too.

Pretty crappy game with no longevity, not surprising. Sold on hype.

Might be poor wording on my part, but I'm not suggesting that there was a shortage of Xbox One's, but that there is a lower amount of stock than what normally would be there.

Like, if MS is shipping the slim model right now or soon, then there wouldn't be so many Xbox One's in the channel, and why the past 3 weeks are in "sell everything now" mode.

Almost slipping below 100k is alarms going off otherwise. It's what caused MS to axe the Kinect back in 2014.

Just a theory. I can also believe it just sold crap normally, but it's still such a huge drop from April.

I.don't understand your connection of lower stock equaling lower sales...Especially since your not saying out of stock, just lower stock....If stores have them, they will sell them, if they have 100 in the back, or 2, that isn't going to make May's sales tank....

Pretty cool to see how NBA2k16 was the number 9 selling game this month and in June is free on PS+

Probably the most relevant retail game given free on PS+ or GWG to date.

Well, I... wait, recorded 5 years ago? So it took ~2 years post release to reach that...

At least tell me if it is an official NPD number, even if it came from someone else. Pretty pls. ;_;

It's a blizzard game 7 million users....it did not sell remotely near that much on console. Blizzard fanbase on PC is huge.

Most of OW players are probably Blizzard fans and play on PC, meaning they bought straight from Blizzard.

Also, OW has over 7 million players. I am sure that is more than UC4 and DOOM

oh okay. thats a lot. i thought the game was only getting more sales due the good word of mouth. apparently thats not the case.
anyway its always nice seeing a game being successful, to me means my hobbie is safe :p

Closer to 3 than 2, it had great legs. It may well have carried on some way past that. This is an NPD thread :)

Valkyria got SHUT OUT.

cream not appeared last month so I don't know if he will give NPD data again. I hope so, but there's also aqua.
I guess Aqua leaked everything before Cream had the chance to leak something last month... even so I missed him with LT data for some small games.

Is that aqua the actual aquamarine that was a poster here? I thought she despised chartzzz (if im not mistaken the numbers are being posted there from what i understand?).

I will miss the Mulcair eclairs that were once bestowed upon Gaf (I was only a lurker). I understand why he was permabanned (multiple accounts, IIRC), but I wish I could've partaken in some of the fun.

Those top 3 on software make me really happy. Also it's pretty insane how Sony is leading in the entire software Top 10 (yes even BO3 with bundles). Sony really just are having a spectacular generation

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
We're talking a game that on PC in 2014 curbstomped that year's AssCreed and Cawwadoody on Steam's revenue charts. Was kinda hoping that kind of hype would hold momentum when it came to PS4.

Surprise! People buying things on PC does... n't translate to console sales!

Maybe instead of doing a PS4 "remaster" Sega should've gotten on the horn and had VC2/3 ported by their PC houses. #JustSaying

I'm confused. Didn't Sony issue a press release a few weeks ago saying UC4 sold through over 2.4 million copies? Did that include something that's not included in NPD? Digital? Bundles?
Includes the rest of the world like all countries except US.

BTW it was 2.7m.

Did you miss the psplus thread? Was the usual "worst month ever posts " lol. It literally never changes

That points to pretty good legs, since I believe it was sitting at around 150k in the very public Jan 2009 NPD leak that is still all over the net if you use Google.

I have 74k for that number through public lookup. But that leak is not the most reliable because only one site posted it (and everyone cited said site) and it's not a verified one.

From one (hopefully reliable) source I have near ~150k at the end of January 2010 (14 months past release). So if it's >200k, that means that over the course of a year that it sold 50k, and that whole April PR Sega used was complete junk to hype people up as most people guessed. :p

Reason why I'm chasing this down is not just because I'm a fan but because there are many sources with conflicting information I wanted to disperse. Having a bar higher than 200k is nice.

Closer to 3 than 2, it had great legs. It may well have carried on some way past that. This is an NPD thread :)

Oh, good to hear! Thanks for giving me the info.

Now all I have to do is hope there's someone who can give me VC:R ranges and I will be (mostly) covered for Valkyria series sales in the US.

Is very reliable, the guy is from cheap ass gamer forum and had access to NPD data.

US <> world and it was 2.7 million

2.7 million in one week which included digital. That was WW and this is US only.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/05/23/uncharted-4-first-week-sales-surpass-2-7-million/

I'm not familiar with the statement, but my guess would be global vs NA sales?

Thanks! I just woke up, that's my excuse.

The only thing Microsoft hasn't counted yet is the increase of number of buttons mashed...

Ps4 is crushing... I need some of that over watch life is packed maybe in 3 weeks.. and some doom.
