Hope they borrow the swinging mechanics from...Bionic Commando reboot :p

In this game Spidey wasn't raised by Aunt May and Uncle Ben, no the Punisher raised him and taught him well. Watch Spidey throw enemies into wood chippers and break their fingers one by one to get info out of them before dropping them off a tall building.

Marvel is huge, Spider-Man is making a return to the movies, and I have to assume Sony (and Marvel?) will put a lot of dollars in marketing when they have such a great opportunity to make a big franchise.

It's going to sell really well on just hype, and if the game is as good as we all hope...

Insomniac have said its running on a vanilla PS4 and even then, it doesn't look like anything unimaginable on current generation, especially from Insomniac. That being said, it looked amazing at some parts and very drab in others. The explosions, the car sequences and enemies really look poor. In fact the car sequences look almost like the car sequences from the ASM games from Beenox, which was probably the low point of the trailer.

It looks very early. I wouldn't expect this game to come out before the movie and at least as early as the Blu-ray release tbh.

Light-hearted Spidey fun with possible (dark) consequences. I want them to add a few ways to slightly influence the story (like add 1-2 love interests we can meet to build a relationship meter? go down the love interest road: villains can find out and try to get to you via them?).
Essentially balls to the wall fun as Spidey (cause you're essentially a young adult with super human powers, who wouldn't wisecrack 24/7) until someone gets hurt.

Balance is the key.

Has it been confirmed that this was running in realtime? Sony likes to show pre-rendered footage when a game is not that far along. This is probably this year's Uncharted 4 "running on a PS4" except they never said it was running on a PS4. The way the shots are cut, there is no way these are gameplay angles.

I wouldn't be so sure. IIRC, email leaks show that Bob Iger contacted Kaz Hirai directly when Michael Lynton was playing hardball. IMHO, the deal took place between the parent companies of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, i.e. Disney and Sony.

I can't find my post and don't feel like searching for them. But I recall a bunch of gaffers (I think you might've been one of them) thirsting hard as fuck for a great Spidey game and just an overall improvement to Spidey across varying media.

Civil War this year, Homecoming next year, Spider-Man animated film the year after that, and now this game? It kind of makes sense that Sony as a whole would want to start pushing him a bit more, I think we can see a resurgence of the character after TASM.

Years of Spidey confirmed. All we need is Spectacular Spider-Man being brought back from the grave!

That's interesting, according to the live stream, Marvel actually went to Sony and stated they wanted them to create a game that they wanted Sony to treat as a first party game.

EDIT:
That's according to Scott Rohde and Adam Boyes. Marvel didn't ask them for a Spider-Man game, they went and asked for a Marvel game.

Wow, that is huge. If Spider-man is a success, Marvel might ask Sony to make other games, i.e: iron man, daredevil.....

It's entirely possible that Sony weren't the only people they went to, maybe there's an Xbox marvel game on the way too.

Can't remember his name but they had somebody from Marvel on yesterday and he actually said that what Marvel do now is to actively look for people to make the sort of products they want. They don;t leave it to chance, tehy find the people that they want.

I seem to remember that he was refering to films but it seems to fit in with this.

These online petitions are so worthless. Something should be put on the line. Like a $50 dollar deposit that will go towards the purchase of the game should it be ported to your platform of choice. Simply having a digital signature means nothing.

Marvel would be stupid to make one game exclusive to one platform and another to a different platform. Next one is either an exclusive PS4 game or multiplatform.

I'd expect Marvel will go to Sony again given the response Spider-Man has received. Companies know each other well, and Marvel has to be pleased. Would love to see a Captain America game as well, or the Avengers in a perfect world
