Is there a more dark fantasy fiction than Berserk? Just asking, I always hear Berserk as the best in that dark fantasy genre. Its weird that HBO never made a tv show of that manga yet.

Bruh why would you do this... I wouldn't suggest doing this to my worse of enemies. How will you know the utter hatred we all have for Griffith. After what he did I had to stop reading the manga for some time, I was so fucking pissed off. The worse thing to follow his act is how often the manga releases.
Well HBO did turn down a nearly word for word Preacher adaptation but I suspect after Game of Thrones they would me more game for Berserk. Still it would need a huge fucking budget to do it justice, its not as far ranging of Game of Thrones but it dwarfs it in scope in a lot of ways and things get more creatively insane as they go on. The Golden Age arc would be double but anything else? Yeah that would be impressive to seen pulled off in a decent quality.
Then there is the content issue haha Berserk goes a lot places even stuff like Game of Thrones fears to tread. Not for no good reason but that's half of the reason its loved, when bad things happen they are truly horrible. If you haven't read it lets put it this way, there is a notable event that makes the Red Wedding look tame and small.

Live action Berserk just isn't fucking possible. It'd be so sanitized that it would be offensive. Live action Eclipse would melt minds let alone Lost Children and all of the torture porn that is the Tower of Conviction arc. Game of Thrones has nothing on this shit.
Outside of the Golden Age Arc, most of Berserk isn't even possible on live action without super hero movie budget per episode.
That's not even talking about how some elements in Berserk make GoT look like kid's play in comparison.
Hell... even anime Berserk most of the time doesn't seem to get enough of a budget to do the manga panels or the story justice.
Like we still don't even have a complete manga faithful anime adaptation like say Hellsing got with Hellsing Ultimate. Man imagine Berserk made in OVAs each covering a full volume (at 1 hour lengths) with that quality of animation and budget.

One Day CD Project Red will team up with the Platinum Games team working on Nier Automata's to make us the AAA Berserk game we have all dreamed of. CDPR does the story, cut scenes, overall quest and story design while Platinum Games handles the actual meat and potatoes gameplay and incorporates an updated version of Blade mode tailored to Guts proclivity for destroying everyone and everything he faces with a big ass sword. Add in a procedural gore engine to go along with the gameplay and boom, game of forever

Platinum is interested in doing a Berserk game. It's a shame the Omega Force got their hands on it somehow. Hopefully they don't have some kind of exclusivity.
On another note... Is there any word on when Dark Horse will be shipping out more copies of the Manga? Volume 29 is sold out and is going for $90-$100 brand new and $40 used.
The one store that has it for sale at MSRP are scummy liars.

Toukiden isn't musou.
I really wish they would just release a new set of volumes larger in size and nicer in quality with the translations for the sound effects from Volume 1 on. They are missing from the early volumes. I'd love some huge hard cover volumes honestly with the works, Berserk deserves it.

well there's anime that tries to be grimdark but fails at it.
As to a 'DARK AS FUCK' dark fantasy that does it effectively there aren't many. But the Witcher is a favorite of mine, just not darker than Berserk

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the Warhammer 40k fluff. Depending on what you read that shit is grim, and even that is a stretch. It has fantasy elements in it but it is mostly a sci-fi type setting. Read up on the Horus Heresy, if you are interested.

Omega Force is behind Attack On Titan, Toukiden 1 and 2 (the latter of which is going open world), and Dragon Quest Heroes 1 and 2 as well. So they aren't only doing DW and SW games

I like the series because Guts seems like a nice guy, but I'm not very ecstatic about most of the other potential cast so I'm feeling nothing for the game as of now.

I really hope that they look at the old DC/PS2 Berzerk games as inspiration and not just slap a berzerk skin on their regular gameplay. There was a weight emphasised by delay, rumble, animation locks and transitions that really made u feel like you were swinging that sword around in such a devestating manner (and made you feel like the sword was throwing you around in return especially in black armor).
Super Robot Wars, but it's a turn based strategy RPG.
I understand it, anyway.

If you are including books, then yeah of course, and there's many that are much better than Berserk. If only talking about anime, then I'm sure there are some. I think that Fate: Zero is dark fantasy (Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works isn't so much though) and pretty good. I'm sure manga and comics also have lots of dark fantasy gems, too, I don't typically read manga though.
Also, some "dark fantasy" works seem to think all that's required is rape and sexualized violence, which is just tacky and lame writing for the most part. Berserk handles it poorly during the Eclipse, for example.
It seems like dismemberment is in for the monsters but not humans.
That sort of sucks, but its always possible that there may be human dismemberment in the western release.

better omega force than another mediocre or bad licensed game from platinum. i don't play musou games so i'm looking forward to this and at the same time i'm sick of platinum games. nier still looks amazing though because they seem to genuinely care about the quality of that game.

Tecmo have said they're against Cero Z ratings and I think that's automatic if you have human dismemberment. But it could be like Nioh, which is also a Tecmo game. In Japan there's no dismemberment while it's in the western versions.

We'll have to disagree then as the Eclipse was some paramount storytelling. Most fantasy authors wish they could create something like that in their storylines. As an avid fantasy reader of all kinds the reason Berserk stands out is because its got graphic content and goes places few other works go and has the story, characters and themes to back it up.

like 15 pages of tentacle porn is hardly praise worthy especially since the victim is not the focus and essentially has their character wiped afterwards. Everything else about the Eclipse is absolutely fantastic , and I don't want to give the impression that I dislike Berserk or anything. I love Berserk, but it does has some poor writing instances and wasted potential
Casca is completely wasted in the series.
Yea Nioh Alpha demo had dismemberment in Western version, but it was removed in Japanese version.
That's what I'm expecting will happen, especially as it's already a thing for them with the differences between the Japanese and western releases of both Fist of the North Star games that they did.
The erotic elements are a much bigger question mark, and knowing what they can and can't show in Japanese games, I do wonder how that will be addressed in the western release.
