New Pokémon Revealed- Salandit

Wow great design and cool abilities. Probably my favorite of the new Pokémon so far and that's saying a lot because I've really liked them so far!

Salandit females not only release toxic gases, they can also emit pheromones that attract males of all species, including Pokémon and humans. Inhaling these pheromones may cause opponents to be controlled by Salandit’s will.

Of course they do.

Add another one to the "pokemon who can mind control humans for fun" list.

Organic material is far more resistant to acids and other chemicals than metal though.
I think it's less "organic vs inorganic" and more "living organism vs machine". You can't poison a robot, it doesn't even have a metabolism.

I love 'em! I'm really enjoying the exotic, yet still fairly simple designs this gen. The little lava trail on his back and the silly grin are great.

Love it! At first I was confused because I've never seen a Pokemon that looks like this before, but that's what makes it great.

Very distinct silhouette and color scheme (black head, hands, and feet on a charcoal grey body with the red lines running down its lower back and tail). I also find those eyes really interesting. I don't think we have many Pokemon with slit-like pupils or purple eyes. Makes him stand out from the crowd.

And it goes without saying that Poison/Fire, and the ability to poison Pokemon normally immune to it, is awesome.

It's very similar to Krookodile both in terms of visual design and theme. But different typing! I'm assuming the evolution path will be similar.

Yeah, I like every new Pokemon they've shown so far. Amazing gen.

It's probably already been noted, but there appears to be a robber/bandit/murderer-in-the-night theme here. It looks like he's wearing a black mask (complete with the bandana in the form of his ears) and black gloves.

Like if he were a person, he'd sneak into places and poison the guards to reach his target.

People seem to conflate corrosives and poisons.

You can't poison a piece of metal. It's not a living thing.

The thing about Salandit it that its poison is also corrosive. Which is why it affects both Poison and Steel types. Neither of them can die from poisoning, but they can be burned by corrosion.

Exactly. Some people are really overthinking this, lol.

I always wanted a poison-fire (and a poison-steel) so this is great. Corrosion is interesting. This thing will be a ridiculous status inflicter as it will likely get Will-o-wisp as well by virtue of being a Fire type.

I imagine most builds would only go with Toxic, though, since you can only inflict one status condition at a time, and since he'll be able to poison everything in the game. Probably better to save other slots for attacks, including STAB Fire-type attacks.

Looks like a gecko with the lower jaw missing and a trash bag tied around its head... I kinda like it

Btw reminds me of this gecko I found on my morning jog,
That's a salamander! I'm guessing you live on the West Coast?

Coincidentally, that's one of the most toxic salamander species, so the comparison fits 😂😂😂
Hope you washed your hands! If you ate food after w/o washing you should go to the hospital. Neurotoxins aren't fun.

Definitely looks like the grunts will use him. Glad they revealed him before the evil team so that he can still have his own identity!

That bandana head lol. Its ability is also really good, though it depends if it evolves and how good it stats are.

Updated types so far:
Grass: 1
Fire: 2
Water: 2
Normal: 4
Flying: 2
Bug: 4
Rock: 1
Electric: 4
Psychic: 3
Ghost: 1
Steel: 3
Dragon: 1
Fairy: 3
Poison: 1
Fighting: 0
Ground: 0
Ice: 0
Dark: 0

No Fighting types so far is pretty strange, maybe we'll get one in Corocoro next week. It's nice to see a Poison type but there consistently one of the least numerous added types in each generation since Gen I. For example, there were only two Poison types introduced in XY.

Love the ability & design.

Gen VII have been knocking it out of the park in that regard.

Now, lets just hope they don't shit the bed when it comes to evolution.

Delphox & Chesnaught, to name two recent examples, are prime examples of this.

Damn, Pokemon Go is pretty realistic

Haha, well I did have the app on this morning and found this cutie in the same place

How did you survive?

Wasn't sure if it was a salamander or gecko, good to know! Are you sure it's toxic? Maybe if you eat... I found it a few days ago and I'm still alive... I think 🤔😅😅 and yes, I do live in the best coast! Washington state

That's why I'm hoping moves like Acid Spray will now hit Steel types

It looks nothing like I would have designed a salamander with those typings, but apart from the freaky eyes it's alright.

It's got nothing on TrainBug though.

It secretes a powerful neurotoxin that at most will irritate your skin, but if you get it on a mucous membrane or eat it you're in big trouble! It's a cool one. I'm on the east coast but we learned about it in herp class because of how potent it is.

Exactly. Some people are really overthinking this, lol.

On that subject, it would have been even better if instead of letting it inflict Poison on immune types, Corrosion instead inflicted burn when a pokemon immune to psn would be poisoned.

It's hard to tell with how little we know about it but burn has the very nice side effect of lowering physical attack. So you might very well want to burn some foes (physical sweepers) and badly poison others (defensive Pokemon). Having the option available with Will-o-wisp (or Lava Plume for an attack with 30% chance to burn) will make Salandit more versatile. I think most defensive Pokemon that can reliably burn foes prefer it over Toxic on competitive movesets even if they can also learn Toxic. Corrosion will give Salandit an incentive to consider Toxic though. Being able to Poison Heatran (who can't be burned) is such a troll move.

'Salandit' is kind of an awkward name, but this guy has a rad design and typing. Been wanting a Poison/Fire for the longest.

November will take forever. Their focus on making all abilities somehow useful is making me extremely hyped. Remember when we had thing like pressure, blaze and tangle feet?
