Driveclub VR gameplay.

and the fact it's running at 60fps (120hz via headset through reprojection). That will certainly help the motion of the game.
So is reprojection from 60Hz to 120 the magic bullet or are there consistent reports of visible artifacts?

Is this 1080p? At least when I`m using the Samsung and HTC VR, 1080p isn`t much when it`s glued in your face.

I wouldn't say "magic bullet" and I'm not sure about the visible artifacts, since we can't really test until we have the device in our hands, but it's definitely something considerable to improve the VR experience alongside the resolution gradient masking.

Looks incredible !!

I cancelled my PSVR pre-order because i want a Neo first. But January 2017, this and Resident Evil 7 are mine !!!

VR and racing games is the perfect match !

Seeing it on a screen doesn't translate how it will look on the PC VR screen itself. I haven't used a psvr but I do own a vive and something like project cars doesn't look so hot once you have the headset on. Curious to see how the Ps vr fares with lower resolution screens.

This exactly, everyone is looking at the break out video and critiquing the graphics details.
Yes the style, art and assets will look the same in the helmet, but there is a whole other level of the VR screen stretching, screen door pixles, and the darkness and blurriness that comes along with any VR helmet. I dub it the VR Haz

I've played a Vive and I've done a demo of Playstation VR, PS VR is good, just a bit more hazy than the Vive, but nothing like the Samsung Gear level of haziness.

I just want to stress, enjoy how a game looks and get a vibe for how it plays, but when critiquing graphics remember you are looking at a breakout video, not footage through the helmets screen, which can only be experience when that screen is strapped to your face..

This is awesome.
I think the best way to jump into VR is Neo + PSVR
This games are really well optimised for VR i think.

Since these guys are paid to sell you on all things PlayStation, I'd say he did a pretty good job on convincing me to check out DriveClub VR.

While this is true, don't forget that this game is developed with VR in mind, it's not just a patch (at least I assume so), and PSVR has often been lauded for its quality despite the lesser specs.

Live for Speed on the DK2 looked astonishing. Remember, 1080p too and limited tech.

It looked amazing because the graphics were simpler and everything was fine-tuned for VR. I'm hoping this is the case too.

DC has the advantage of having high-quality assets, something you don't find so often in VR games.

I got to play it after waiting for almost 5 hours. It felt really great, even though the resolution was kinda low at first. Can't wait to play it in the comfort of my own home.

Isn't this a free expansion?
No, it's a standalone game with some new tracks.

Though there's talk that season pass holders for the original Driveclub may get a discount though.
Holy shit, I didn't even know this was a thing. Will this be at PS VR launch?
The leaked japanese playstation blog post said it'd launch on october 13 with psvr, but that was taken down. The recent post on the US playstation blog just says it's going to release in 2016, so we don't know at this point if plans have changed.

Your talking about the game's graphics, I'm talking about the Blurriness and pixel effect you get from the VR goggles. It's something a lot of people don't get over. If you read the thread on here about the PS VR demo. A lot of people mention they watch the breakout monitor while they are in line, but when they used the VR helmet they complained that it looked bad.

All I'm saying is don't pick about the graphics from a VR break out video, you have to view them through the googles to see what it will really look like and how it will play in motion.

Git gud eyes.

Which is what I said in my first post in this thread, I agree.

I was just putting things into perspective. It won't look like the mirrored footage, but it's not going to look like complete shit once you play it, provided enough work has been done on it.

Holy hell this is amazing. Im so happy I have my PSVR pre-ordered because now I have to finally get Driveclub. I don't even like that game but this video alone sold me on it purely for VR.

I also have a mighty need for a thrustmaster 150 now.

Ah gotcha, and I agree.

Also you get use the the fuzziness that comes from having the VR screen so close to your eyes after a few mins. In a demo you are often overwhelmed by it and of course the whole 3d Vr craziness..

Understood. It's like games look good in a small size gif. Those pixel will blow up once they are in your face.
I tried some gear VR, I can handle those, PSVR should be better?

Wonder how this will feel with a controller - will it break the immersion too much? I think initially it may be weird but hoping my brain will get used to it. If not I guess its time to buy a PS4 compatible wheel because that looks amazing! If GT Sports is VR compatible and turns out remotely like this goodbye real world.

I agree with what others are saying in regard to what is shown on the screen is not a good representation of what the graphical fidelity will look like in the headset.

However, you also don't have a good representation on the screen for how immersive it is compared to the HMD.

As someone who has a Logitech G29, Playseat Challange and Rift, while what is shown on my monitor looks a lot crisper (pCars), there's no replacement for the immersion of playing it in VR.

Whats going on with the input lag at this part - https://youtu.be/VkPSZMFYSzk?t=162

Seems fine at the start, then big delay with wheel and headset motions
The video is taken from the feed that the breakout box sends out to the tv. That may have started getting some lag due to processing/converting the incoming feed down to a 2d screen that he may not have actually experienced in the headset.

Possibly.

Edit: Looks like it's just a video editing mistake.

Yeah, you tend to forget about imperfections and SDE quite easily. For some people though it's just something that won't go away.

For me, full 1:1 scale, head tracking and 3D beat image quality any day (plus, it's something we'll only have to deal for some time until tech matures further).

Understood. It's like games look good in a small size gif. Those pixel will blow up once they are in your face.

PSVR should be better in all regards, even though the screen res is lower. Gear VR and similar devices rely on screens that are not built with VR in mind (and have a lower refresh rate and don't use reprojection or other fancy software solutions).

Sold!

Unfortunately, my wife would never let me get one anytime soon, let alone get a wheel and dedicate a chunk of room to it.

But that looks absolutely amazing, and listening to that guy drive -- explaining how easy and normal driving becomes, for example, verses in a regular racing game -- blows my mind.

Hot damn, looks awesome.

This is gonna pull you in so hard.

Having a force feedback wheel for this is going to make the experience mind blowing.

Who's dev'ing this?

Got my PSVR on pre-order, but occasionally feel like maybe I should cancel due to lack of games. Then I see THIS and I'm back on board. The games with cockpits seem the most intuitive and immersive to me.
