Theoretically the xbox scorpio should outperform the ps4 right? My knowledge at hardware level is not that great. Most of my knowledge revolves around coding in Java and C++ and some MIPS. So all the hardware people what you guys think. Is the difference theoretically going to be vast. I say theoretical because we haven't actually got to see either console on action, meaning play on our own.

Also if priced accordingly you think microsoft can reclaim their position at the top of console market like the 360 era. Also based on the spec what you think the price of the xbox is going to be like?

From marketing perspective I think the ball's on MS court. They can easily the change the tide of the console market sales right now. If they play it smart they can get back to the top again. They theoretically will have the strongest console on the market minus NX(we don't know yet) and they will offer quality of life features such as 4k blu ray player. If they can land some good exclusives I think they can win this race ultimately. Atleast the battle of 4k consoles.

What you guys think? Let's keep it civil here. And not let our fandom ruin it. I am ps4 fan btw.

Scorpio will be significantly more powerful but that won't help MS in this generation anymore. Sony is way ahead in sales, new buyers will just follow their friends, which will probably be on PS4.

Sony also offers a cheaper (4k) console and so far they have also been ahead in exclusive games.

Unless MS backtracks on their 8 core CPU announcement, they won't be using a 4 core zen processor in scorpio.

Power was only one factor that lead to the success of the PS4. MS acting like idiots, a higher price tag, lower power, and smart marketing on Sony's part all contributed towards the PS4's success.

Sony has been waving their power advantage dick for several years now and MS wants to be able to waggle their dick as well. Scorpio will wave the dick for at least a year until the next more powerful console comes along to waggle the dick.

If Scorpio stays with 6tf GPU next year, that will put it at 50% more power than the pro I think?

So similar differences as the current consoles, Scorpio will have clear advantages in resolution and frame rates for third party games.

Pro has the early advantage though, one year head start has proven to be a real competing factor sales wise in the past. Pro will also have the price advantage. One year later when Scorpio releases, no matter the price, Sony can easily drop it $50-100 below the Scorpio.

Pro also has the advantage of having real exclusives dedicated to the console. Scorpio games will all be available on PC if MS keeps their word about the future of its games.

I don't see the tides turning to 360 levels of sales advantage even with Scorpio power and 4K optical drive tbh.

Edit: ALSO, for the 'true 4K gaming' arguments, we should really temper expectations in this regard. Devs mostly agree rendering at full 4K is a waste of resources at the moment, it will still be thus for Scorpio. 12tf gpus that cost thousands are struggling to hit the mark. Scorpio AAA games will be mostly upscaled with lots of pretty improvements, much like pro games. We won't be getting 4k60 AAA games even on Scorpio for the most part unless they make some hefty compromises to iq. Maybe Forza and some sports and indie games.

This so much. Pointless thread OP since the only FACTS that we have been told about Scorpio is a 6tf GPU, 8 Core CPU and 320gb bandwidth memory. No info on which type of CPU or speed, No mention of what type of memory or quantity. Very, very important things we need to know to make comparisons between the two systems..one of which is still over a year away.

The biggest issue I see Microsoft having is that no matter how powerful the Scorpio is the PS4 pro will have been out for a little longer than a year giving it a very comfortable lead. Even with the difference in power it does not mean Neo/Pro games will look bad it just means that Scorpio games will look a bit better. Also its going to really put pressure on MS in house games to compete with Sony's to push visual fidelity it should be interesting.

It would be great if it launched at the same time as Pro or early next year. Holiday 2017 might be too late. Releasing the console 4 years into the generation might dreamcast the machine.

At this point in time all you need to know is that come the 10th of November, Sony will still have the most powerful console in the world. For a full year most likely, which will give it a more solid win this generation. Let me underline that winning is not a fanboy idea of a win, it means more sales and profit for Sony, which will hopefully turn into more and better games for us in the future.

Also, checkerboard 4K is apparently a pretty good alternative to native 4K, mitigating whatever specs Scorpio comes out with. Especially taking into account that games for it will have to work for XBone as well.
