What about the first one? Unless Destiny 2 has it's own story set in a different universe or something like the Final Fantasy franchise does, a lot of PC players are going to have no clue what's going on starting the sequel.

Having played Destiny for hundreds of hours, I can tell you that I too have no idea what's going on.

Well, Destiny tells it's story through cards in their website so it's not like their experience will defer from those who has already played the game.

Sounds great.

At first, I didn't notice how old gen versions pushed back the game in PS4/XBO, but after playing for two years I can tell how other games have moved on from the last gen and Destiny is still held back despite Rise of Iron not releasing in 360/PS3.

The only thing I ask for is for more continuous content rather than expansions. I hope they can deliver.

Lol PC exclusive,as if they would leave all that console money in the table.

Looks like Destiny one is done in terms of light level and expansions.

I hope Destiny 2 raids will drop the "jump through hoops until everyone can stack and hurt the boss for 20 seconds" that every single raid boss uses.

To people who are bummed they might lose their current character, I honestly ask, why? We only have three races and three classes, very limited customization (and only for the head), and gear constitutes what is currently best with no way to transmogrify previous styles. They only just added a way for the same weapons everyone uses to sport a slightly different look. Hell, you can't even name your characters, something games like Diablo 3, which has no way to customize your character's looks besides transmogrification, allow you to do.

I haven't played Destiny because I feel I'd jump in too late, but I definitely want to jump in day 1 with Destiny 2. Playing with GAF would be fun.

Reading the OP it makes me want to get into Destiny, but I fear I don't have enough time to plough into along with all the other games I'll play this year (BF1/MW:R) and a total lack of time.

Destiny 2 sounds amazing though.

It all sounds good to me. Make the world more like Borderlands. Don't care about my character carrying over and wouldn't mind playing on PC other than the fact that I would be at huge disadvantage in Crucible using a gamepad. It would awesome if you could use your account on PC and PS4, but the PlayStation exclusive content is probably only just one of many roadblocks to keep that from happening.

The entire open world have to use spaces thing might backfire. Patrol is Destiny'/ least popular mode while strikes and crucible rule supreme. Hopefully they have figured out how to make The open world work better. It seemed like the original destiny really wanted patrols to work, but it didn't. Reminds of guild wars 2 where the open world events were often desolate.

Patrol is the least popular mode because it suck ass. If Destiny 2 has open world setup similar to Borderlands in quality and quantity it will be MUCH more popular. Honestly right now it you are a PVE player like myself Destiny is extremely lacking. Running the same strikes repeatedly or the barebones patrol mode with quests that are a joke by any standard are the only activities you can do on your own. Bungie knows what they are doing and they know their current open spaces are trash.

Will be playing on PS4 because I don't want to deal with cheaters on PC which definetly will be out on full force.

Things will be nice & calm on the PS4 realm.

Alll they really need to do is the Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2 reward system.

Basically what it was is if you hit certain milestones or accomplishments in GW1 you could unlock skins, cosmetics, pets, and other non-gameplay items for your characters in GW2. Was a nifty system that rewarded the most hardcore with bling that let you know that they were 4srs.

Nothing notable happened in the first game though.

Only thing I know is that because the guardians killed Oryx the Taken King, the Cabal send out a signal towards their leader or something. I guess that's why the focus is on Cabal in D2 it seems.

Destiny 2 better have a library or a console where we can read all the grimoire entries/lore from the first game.

I invested tons of hours into the game but I still hope they'll leave everything behind. I don't want them to make any sacrifices in game design just to include the old stuff.
I also love the feeling of a completely fresh game when everyone is noobing around, so that news would be super awesome.

If this goes PC, i'm not playing any destiny game ever again. Which might be a good thing, with d1 being such a time sink.

Id be more worried about mouse aiming vs controler aiming.

That's the main reason I'm more likely to stick with the console version or least mainly on console. I can't play games with kb/m(nor do I want to learn how to) so PvP on PC is not really an option for me.

I would love see the reasoning as to why a PC version would make you abandon the game. I serious doubt cross-play will happen with consoles more than likely locked to 30fps so what else would turn you away?

You'll miss nothing.

It's really to their benefit to wipe the slate clean imo. This isn't like WoW.

Most players had no idea what was going on in the original either.

I enjoyed the trial version quite a bit. Gameplay was on point so if everything else around the gameplay gets an overhaul including content and a flashed out Ingame story then I have no reason to hold off anymore. Ive been meaning to pick up at least one fps for a number of years, haven't bought one since Timesplitters 2 so this is quite exciting.

WoW has a bot problem. E.g. BGs were filled with bots for most of Warlords. Currently Legion has hacks like flying.

Yeah bots are stuff like repetition through color coding, and they are always getting banned. They're mostly used for menial tasks.

You won't see bots at the top of a PvP league or cheating players because there's no such thing as something like infinite health.

The Division had hackers because Ubisoft was stupid enough to make it mostly client-side. I'm 99.9% sure Bungie won't make the same mistake.

People are always acting like all PC games are filled with hackers, trust me, for the games that are smart enough with their security, you'll pretty much never see one.

And if you do, they run the risk of getting banned and having to pay for another game, so it'll be a very very small population.

I played Destiny at launch (and not since) and I have no idea what the fuck happened in the "story".

As bad of a game Destiny is to play, its narrative is an even bigger mess.

Cabal sent the signal because they got raped by the Taken.

If Destiny 2 really does retire the old characters, then there really is no reason to keep playing anymore is there?
I don't get this. Are you only playing this game in hope of the character transferring over to the next game? Are you not playing it because it's fun and addictive?

Yeah, I don´t understand this line of thought either, but it seems pretty popular.

As written by Jason Schreier.

There's a fair bit more than I'm summarizing here: http://kotaku.com/sources-destiny-2-coming-to-pc-aims-to-feel-like-a-to-1787153460

Some Highlights:
- It reiterates what benny_a said about the game coming to PC and Vicarious Visions assisting.
- They're very seriously considering leaving your characters/equipment/etc behind.
- The game is internally compared to Diablo 1 -> Diablo 2 in terms of the amount of changes they want to make.
- One of the new things mentioned that regions would be much more fleshed out with towns and outposts mixed directly in with playspaces.
- There's explanations of the reasonings for the above along with additional details on the items.
- There's talk about internal conditions and changes at Bungie.

Wow they are in my hometown.

The gameplay is fun? Maybe I care more about playing new content than I do playing the same character that I have for 1000 hours?

Destiny is lots of people's (mostly console gamers) first mmo.

There´s a lot of misunderstanding surrounding this game coming from the fact that for some reason people still call it an MMO and from that leaked "10 year plan" thing that never meant what people thought it did.

What's wrong with having both?

Why is there is this absolute thinking that it has to be one or the other?
