RIP Shuuichi

Heh. I actually liked most of the scenes he was in during the first season. The faux duet across the river and shouting across the bridge were particularly good, as were some of his chats with Kumiko. He seems like an alright guy, if a little insensitive.

Poor bastard. :lol

EDIT: Actually, that's one of my key positives from the first season. The characters were great, even those who had little screentime.

Yuri on Ice 01

I'm pretty sure I had to double check when the ages of characters were announced. 23 years old ? 27 years old ? In my anime ? What is this sorcery ?

One thing I forgot to comment is how much I liked this not being a story of "from zero to hero" story, with the protagonist being a total noob in X (baseball, football, racing, dancing, skating, whatever) who starts to learn, train, entering in low level tournaments, etc; but they start with him being already a 'pro', although a low level one. For example, he is famous in his city and he trained for years over the seas (in the States).

To be Hero 01

I was gonna give it to Bungou or Yuri but this right here might be the most impressive premiere of Fall.

Bold words. I will take a look, I'm going in totally blind.

he's a dunce but his heart's in the right place

but reina though. wow-ee.

Yeah. He and Kumiko are basically guilty of similar things at the start - insensitive and somewhat cruel remarks - but you know they're good people. I hope they properly resolve that conflict this season, and that fistbump in the finale gave me hope for that.

I also liked his scenes with Hazuki. No indecisive rejection - just nipped it in the bud as soon as her feelings became apparent. That's almost refreshing. Plus their awkward-ish friendship through the bonus episode is pretty great.

Man, I could talk about loads of small scenes in the first season that stuck with me.

And yes. Go Reina.

I've been slowly trying to read the novels and honestly it's kind of hilarious how much Kumiko is like "WOW-EE REINA WOW-EEEEEE"

whereas, if i am deciphering it right, her reaction to shuuichi is basically "i've known this clown forever and he's a big dope"

One of those Shirobakey or Sora de whatever type shows about becoming a voice actor. Only everyone is really two-faced, catty and bitchy towards each other and do anything to get a leg up and business ideas are concocted at some bar over whiskey. Its great.

The main girl is especially awesome. She's just so bratty and entitled and thinks shit should be handed to her. Comes out with some cracking lines too "Why would people make anime when they know it won't sell?", lol it definitely is a weird industry.

I dunno. The premise is pretty funny, but I can't see doing much with it. It already had a couple of reverse harem moments anyway. I guess it will depend on the quality of the jokes. There were a couple of good ones in there, but mostly nothing to write home about.

Someone stop kyoani! The mad men!

Is this Samurai Flamenco, but with girls?

Battery: 10-11, end
I guess the show has said everything it wanted to say about Harada and Nagakura's partnership versus the one for Kadowaki and Mizugaki, but that doesn't stop the show's ending from being very anticlimatic. Also do they ever explain why Mizugaki hates Kadowaki? I do like the show overall though, and appreciate what they did here.

I think he was just jelly Harada was stealing Shugo's attention or something. So basically good, old "I want Senpai to notice me".

There were a few scenes that were ridiculously satisfying. Seeing Hinata and Kageyama pull off their stuff in front of such a large audience was a joy and I loved the scene when the players were introduced.
I kind of like the announcer's voice xD

Despite that, it looks still cool. Is that supposed to be a prequel? Looks like it.

I thought she was changing schools, but it looks like a reboot instead? Idk. I guess the school was always called Lunanova. Whoops.

Damn, I was hoping it wouldn't be a reboot. I mean, not that the plot was ever, well, anything, but I still like those first two movies(?) (shorts? whatever) and I'd have liked it if the show built off them.

That said I guess the show could just be filling in gaps?

Well, could also be. But the tower scene looks more like she doesn't have a broom and can't fly yet, whish she definitly can in the movies. If I remember correctly, even the first movie started somewhere in the middle if things.

Not sure what I watched. Think I liked it but the music history gives it an unexpected edutainment feeling which isn't a bad thing. Just feels like the beginning of a kids show is all. Visual humor worked better than the actual jokes and the core emotional story for today's ep seemed well enough. That said, concept is delightfully absurd (read: stupid af) so there's a good chance of fun to be had here.

This is airing on NHK-E, who I'm sure funded this with the intention of providing some sort of educational content for kids.

The first scene completely destroyed me. Then the show became somewhat "meh". And the everything went insane. And suddenly mechs. I died again.

Oh god, this show could be glorious.

The goat returns. Great first episode to lead up to the big match. Nice to see that they've gained many fans.

LWA TV trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3jFdqs4jUQ

- Animation looks solid
- Creature designs look solid
- Effects are solid
- Wtf is wrong with Akko's eyes?
- Damn some of the backgrounds are a huge downgrade as expected...

Everything wrong with LWA TV displayed in one frame:

Fuck. I'm not surprised they switched art directors as Yoshinari wasn't exactly happy with Kaneko's current style as he was complaining that it had gotten rougher since KLK. That said, I was hoping they were going to keep him but it's possible the Bubaki scheduling conflict was too much. Now the biggest differences are obviously with the backgrounds.
The outdoors shots look mostly fine but anything involving buildings show the vast gap between Masanobu Nomura (Kiznaiver) and Yuji Kaneko. I'm surprised though as Nomura should be better than this, as seen by his work in Kiznaiver. They're trying to emulate Kaneko's style but Nomura can't keep quite up.
So apparently they're doing a reboot (godfuckingdamnit) as the opening with the Shiny Chariot magic show is different. The TV version looks to be done by Yuuto Kaneko instead of Masaru Sakamoto who animated the OVA variant. It also seems to show Akko arriving at Luna Nova and meeting Lotte for the first time. So I was kind of hoping they would just treat the OVA/Movie as events that happened inside the same universe but if they're showing the Shiny Rod without the dragon event then I guess the OVA/Movie are non-canon to the TV show. Fuck.

Akko baby, what have they done to you?
So Shuhei Handa is redoing(???) Yoshinari's designs or something. Maybe this is just a really bad shot but Akko's new design might be a downgrade. That's largely because of the eyes as the irises are larger. Hopefully this isn't a foreshadowing of other character design changes as I never really liked how Handa drew Akko. It could just be a shitty shot though.

Yes Handa is adapting Yoshinari's designs for the TV series. Yoshinari is only "character concept" now. They might want to make it easier to draw for a longer series or something. Looks pretty... weird. It's okay though, Hori is saving the show as main animator. The creature animation and effects look great. Hopefully he's going to pull a Sushio/Kiznaiver and do KA on every important scene in every episode. Lol.

Behold, literally Trump-san in my animu. Prophetic as hell.

Gargantia on the Verdous Planter 02-05

The juxtaposition of Ledo, the guy from Space Nazi Regime, against the frivolous society of Gargantia makes for some interesting character dynamics and beginning of change on the part of Ledo. I like that he still retained some of his cold-bloded approach, like remarking about Earth's potential for colonisation. Wondering if that distress signal isn't setting up a situation where he eventually will be forced to choose between the two worlds.

How is it that they announce a little witch academia TV series, the only thing I've ever wanted from that God damn Studio, and they still somehow manage to fuck it up and make it a prequel with weird art/and derpier faces

I bet techno witch and sand-witch aren't even it in. Fuck you trigger.

My question is why though? The designs are near fucking identical.

If they do anything to Amanda....
It's weird because in most of the shots Akko looks fine, like the Yoshinari design, however there's occasionally a shot that looks off. It's not just due to the eyes but the teeth in that it's almost like a bucktooth. Just why?

Then they can reboot my ass into a kawaii witch with stupid eyes, because as of right now I don't even know if I want to watch it.

Will wait for impressions until someone tells me my two favorite witches appeared 20 episodes down the line.

Wait, are you telling me there's another bike racing sports anime series out this season? But this one is a slice of life one?

Damnit A-1, give me my Oofuri season 3! 。゚ヽ(゚´Д`)ノ゚。

Apparently anything sports can get a series now.
