PAY2WIN: COD microtransactions keep getting worse - IW gives stat boosts to guns

So why aren't big gaming sites making a big fuss about this? I'd expect IGN, Eurogamer etc. to tell people to avoid buying COD this year but let's be real, Activision still gives those sites the big money.

They're not Bethesda- who only wants people to experience the game at the same time. But of course all the sites jumped on Bethesda's ass because they saw their free ride ending if other companies followed suit.

You would think people would learn to stop making such ridiculous statements as this.

Let's put some more salt into the wound.

You get a daily log in bonus, but the bonus is even better if you own the season pass:

Also Zombie Crates, because that mode needed more micro-transaction bullshit:

As I said in an earlier post and possibly a different thread, wait until Christmas/January time and there will be a whole host of weapons added to the game that are only obtainable via this method.

Tip of the iceberg.

A whole 20 salvage a day, hahahaha.

This is literally insane. Hahahahaha. And here I thought the rabbit hole couldn't go any deeper! Bravo, Activision!

Oh man, this is ridiculous. I guess it's time to tell the wife and kids not to buy my annual copy of CoD for XMass as the online MP will be a complete mess with stat boosts and uneven competition. How do they even think this is a good idea? I get it, "C.R.E.A.M," but this will just make MP unplayable for casuals that will completely get destroyed by "premium" cash players.

EDIT: Even Better

Don't see anything ridiculous about it and until I see game sites rally against this, I fully believe it.

You'd think that those websites would learn that taking advertiser money from the companies they are criticizing looks like rank corruption. (But don't worry, they've told us that it's not corrupt!)
lol

Yep, 20+ years of games criticism and absolutely no evidence of this stuff means it's totally happening.

Glad Treyarch kept that out. They couldn't screw over longtime zombies fans too much

Besides, this zombies has nothing on Treyarch's. It's a wanna be

I wonder how the developers feel about this. Whether they are ashamed/furious that Activision mandated them to implement this crap or whether they don't care and are just happy about bigger paychecks(assuming this has any influence on that).

I find it unlikely that the Developers wanted to include this. It's most likely mandated from Activision.

I am surprised that people are surprised by this. The micro transactions were HUGE in BO3. Of course it was going continue and evolve.

Getting tricked into paying $80 for a decade old game is nothing to celebrate.

This is the thing that will guarantee nothing of note will happen with the release: People will still buy it, and CoD will always have this bullshit going forward.

"I'm disgusted by this practice, but that's why I'm playing this game instead! Well, yeah, you only get that game by buying a more expensive version of the game I'm disgusted by, but still!"

Certain weapon varients are ONLY available through Supply Drops

Disgusting.

Went from interested in this game, to excited, to hesitant, to excited, to disappointed, and now disgusted.

I CoD 1-4 and MW 2. Rest of the titles have sucked to me. I picked up AW for the campaign and played very little multiplayer. This title I want for MWR, but not enough to spend $64 (GCU price). Will wait. It is like Activision is trying to kill CoD now. I will stick with Destiny for now.

The media should absolutely 100% be dragging Activision through a bed of nails for this. Not merely because it's unfair or because it's greedy for a full priced game to also adopt a free to play model. They need to step up because these features are intentionally designed to prey on individuals with weak will and addictive tendencies who end up hurting themselves and their families by contributing a disproportionate share of the revenue from this.

Not selling MW2 on its own like every other remaster ever and then "evolved MTs". Games industry gonna games industry.

At this point just lite the Jim Sterling signal flare and have a little laugh at how scummy these publishers continue to be.

So I just bought Black Ops 3 for that $20 Newegg sale a bit ago, and if I'm not mistaken - that game does the microtransactions bullshit for guns too?

Did it start with BO3? I'm sure Activision is happy to just keep profiting off of this scummy move, but the fact that certain individual special skills are tied to these guns is sad.

Well for BO3 it wasn't gun variants, it was entire guns themselves locked behind paywalls. I never got to use the FAMAS for example cause it never dropped for me. :(

Started with AW. Really didn't mind it in BOIII because they weren't variants of existing guns. Some of them suck anyway, FAMAS is ass imo.

I had preordered this game for Cod4, but after the beta I changed my mind and decided to wait until it's standalone and got my preorder refunded. Looks like I made the right call. This shit is disgusting.

They finally did it.

They put a $50 coin doubler in Call of Duty.

I wish I had a time machine, could go back in time 10 years, and shove this in the faces of the industry sycophants bellowing "microtransactions will only be used for cosmetics and full expansions, quit being paranoid."

Where can I try this shiny new F2P mobile game?

Greed really is a short term strategy. So when all of it comes crumbling down somewhere down the line, then there definitely is blame to pass around at Activision HQ.

Been saying this for years. Activ is really good at killing their cash cows over short term gain when I'd wager a better thought out plan and a higher quality product would have longer legs.

I'll check out the campaign much later if it's worth it, avoiding multi-player with it though.
