Symmetra is getting a big overhaul it seems, shields are going to getting reworked for sure. And they want to look at her teleporter and viability overall.

I'm scared, Symmetra is my number 1 source of fun in this game. If they change too many things about her I don't know what to do :|

You forgot to include the views from the other channels (ps,xbox)

Alive has +4 million views on the playstation channel.

I didn't forget anything. I was talking about their official YT channel.
Sombra's short is also uploaded on other channels.

I'm going to embrace any QOL changes they will give to Symmetra. It's gotten to the point where people know how to counter her, so unless you get boosted by Ana, it's basically a death sentence to play Symmetra.

I hope they lay off using Widowmaker and Reaper for a while, we need to see more heroes in next few shorts.

I still want my Lucio vs Symmetra Blizzard !

Shadowplay somehow got disabled today.

Was gonna post me getting pulled through a solid metal wall by roadhog when I got hooked as dva. Even on the kill cam I just watched myself get pulled through the metal sheet (like it wasnt even there) that sits ontop the gas station on Route 66.

Hook 2.0 aka iHook can't come soon enough.

Why would she be comparable to Mei who can deal almost no damage on her own? Looking at her skill set it seems like she's a Tracer who is designed to annoy opponents more directly rather than holding a point. Her cloaking is more of an evasive/positioning skill than actual stealth, so it's comparable to Tracer's dash and Reaper's shadow movement. Her transponder is a specific repositioning tool, comparable to Reaper's teleport but faster. Her weapon has the same effective range as Soldier 76, fires rapidly like Tracer, and has a much larger clip than both.

Mei is a zoning character with solid damage output, but her primary purpose is to turn 6v6 fights into 5v6 and then snowball from there.

Sombra's gun has so much spread to it, she fails to fight in that mid-range zone. Even if her gun outputs the same damage as Tracer in close range, the latter has much more mobility to make her an effective damage flanker. Sombra to me is a counter character that will not be picker over Tracer or 76 for her damage as a DPS, but as a utility character, like Mei, that help disable enemy abilities and open opportunities to win fights.

We removed the chain from iHook because we feel it's out dated part of hook mechanics. We replaced it with Fruit Loops.

Have fun!

It's cheesy, predictable and made worse by the shitty Mulan accents. It's what a 10-year old would think is cool if he could invent a ninja and a samurai character dueling it out.

I'm surprised no one had the gusto during this year's BlizzCon to ask the developers about how "horrible" their scripts are. You, given how just about every person I have come across had this common complaint about Blizzard's CG shorts.

I was under the impression that both Hanzo and Genji were voiced by Japanese voice actors?

How does this change anything?

Everyone has complained about the state of Blizzards writing since Starcraft 2. Nothing has improved and probably won't because the games sell so well.

It doesn't I guess. I just assumed by "Mulan accents" you were accusing the VA of putting on accents more than anything. Apologies.

Yeah the voice actors probably can speak english better than what they act in the game and it sounds jarring to me.

I know Hanzo's voice actor (Paul Nakauchi) had voiced Edogawa Yamashiro from 'Beware The Batman' (I meet him when he was visiting us at the studio. Nice bloke.), but I don't have a clue what Gaku Space (Genji's voice actor) had done in the past.

Accents are fine? Both of the voice actors are Japanese so maybe you're not an authority on what sounds right.

The storytelling where they mirror the dragon brothers with the shimada brothers was interesting and very well made.

As for predictability, anyone who heard the discussions between Hanzo and Genji in game, know what goes. But don't tell me you were ready for the dragon scene in that short. That was unexpected and fantastic.

Wait, since Starcraft 2? I thought the dialogue for all of their games (going as far back to the original Warcraft) was super hammy?

I like the cheesiness of the shorts. I think it's deliberate.

Nah it's in every blizzard product. Their writers are horrible.

Indeed it was but it was also more crazy and "videogamey" and the games were much more simple in presentation. Nobody minded the little low-poly action figures delivering hammy dialogue.

In SC2 it dawned on me that their writing was still the same but with less self-awareness, less humour and more tone deaf serious cheese alleviated by the great CGI and presentation.

Considering the writing for Reaper and everyones interactions with him, I'm gonna say yes.

One self-aware character design doesn't mean the rest are suddenly redeemed.

Every time I play ana I fucking cringe at the in-game dialogue as well.

Rein: "ANA, how can this be, I thought you were dead!
Ana: "Sorry Rein, after all that happened I needed some time"

Delivered like Ana had a bad day and went to a different starbucks than Rein that day instead of disappearing for decades xD

The Overwatch shorts are absolutely amazing. I love them. If anything, I don't think they release enough. I really want to learn the stories behind all the characters through these little isolated snippets of events. They look brilliant, are very entertaining and always end with a "feel good" moment (except for recall I guess).

Like TrueBlue said, the game is not trying to take itself seriously. There's so much clichés written in these characters through dialogue that makes them easily recognizable and categorized.

I could see your point if Blizzard had one well written game to create the contrast.

I'm not even saying they try to be super serious with OW, but you can be cheesy and bad even in cartoony setting.

I would put more faith in the "its bad on purpose tho" argument if it wasn't like this in literally every blizzard game

like Starcraft 2 writing is just...

Here's 99% of my point capture games:
Round 1 - we dominate
Round 2 - starts going well, we capture point but lose and fall apart
Round 3 - Lose and not get over 10 points, usually 0.

I've seen that happen on both sides too. It's usually overconfidence and being too aggressive and the other team making some counter-picks.

I just had a crazy match where there was almost no defense at all until the end when we lost. Gibraltar in competitive; they roll right over us with a little over a minute left. Then we do the same but with over two minutes left on the clock. It goes to extra rounds; we start defending OK but then it goes to overtime with them a little short of the first point. They take it all the way from there in overtime. We didn't even come close in round 4.

Nothing in Overwatch's writing has been near as bad as the stuff in Legion, Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2. They have multiple writers and most of the stuff has been serviceable because there's not a ton of exposition. The writing so far has honestly been just fine for online FPS standards. The only characters that are really poorly written are 76 and Widow.

When you see the quality Blizzard puts in animations, gameplay, visuals, polish...

...and then you see the writing. It's not bad by any means, but it's nowhere near good and it's the only thing that isn't on par with everything else.
