United States Election: Nov. 8, 2016 |OT| Hate Trumps Love

Uh, that's because Obama had a republican senate that kicked and scream the whole way. Guess what kind of senate Trump will have?

Dems lost EVERYTHING. Things will move FAST.
I realize that and in four years I still think the talk of gloom/doom will be overrated. I think yall are giving Trump way too much credit. Is it a shitty result? Imo both would have been. Either one end of the world? Hardly. Maybe its just me but I'm not setting my doom clock.

The only people who have anything to look forward to are white, straight males. I weep for my country as a white, straight male.

I'm sorry. I am Californian and we tried. Just wait until it comes to appointing judges.

OK as a white straight male what exactly do I have to look forward to?

What makes it even better is that he makes his living as a person who plays video games!

I'm fairly confident that once people actually see Trump in action with the president's day-to-day itinerary, they're going to turn on him hard. Supporters could hand-wave his peccadilloes and utter ineptitude with communication away when it was against someone they'd been trained to boo and hiss for 20 years, but when he's making us a laughing stock on the world stage or delivering some tone-deaf address about a national tragedy? His approval rating is going to crater, the Republicans that enabled him will be radioactive next election cycle.

Whereas with Hillary, I'm sure no matter how well she did, the right-wing would just fire off the same constant stream of unsubstantiated potshots that she was terrible, and Dems would suffer for it next go-round.

Now Repubs have the burden of accountability, and they've just appointed the worst possible person to bear it. It's bitter, bitter medicine for liberals now, but we may very well come out stronger for it.

Literally the best possible outcome we can hope for right now is that the fuckers who made this bed have to sleep in it

Small consolation for everyone not rich and white of course

I'm not looking forward to the selective memory of people raising Trump to Reagan levels regardless, should this country last another 20 years

I mean....if you are gonna put Trump and Kanye on the same ballot, I'd vote for Kanye 10/10 times.

Atleast he'd put out a dope ass album in the White House, and probably make owning atleast one large portrait of him mandatory.

You understand that his party now controls:

- The Presidency
- The Senate
- The House
- The Supreme Court

right? That's all 3 branches of government, and both houses of Congress. They literally can do whatever they want and get away with it. There's no checks and balances or vetos at play anymore.

The Supreme Court takeover especially will haunt America for decades.

Dems are in shambles after tonight. They're gonna be weaker than ever at federal + state levels.

All three branches are going red. It's not going to be good.

Don't worry. I'll take my L. Never before have I been so disappointed in my country.

GG's trump supports. Guess I was wrong.

I can take mine. I was sure that Trump had lost enough Republican support to make it easy sailing for Hillary. I have been wrong before and will be wrong again.

And again, I am all for getting beat up on being wrong here. That is kind of a GAF tradition.

But try to keep the celebrating here. There are going to be lots of Americans emotionally distraught tomorrow.

I'm fucking livid right now.
Especially at all those people who wasted votes on fucking memes.
Fucking great.
I made a post about how I'm disappointed at the result as a bi citizen and lo and behold, two straight white males laughed at my concerns.

This wasn't supposed to happen

Its weird, I'm actually moving out of the states in a few months. I'm one of the actual people trying to escape, but even doing that I'm still not going to get away from the shit show this likely creates. In fact, I have a strange feeling the effect will be worse outside the states than inside it.

I've never been more mad at my country right now, fuck off America. Me and my family didn't choose to have this skin color, my friends didn't choose to be LBGT, my friends didn't choose to be women, hope you like bankruptcy.

Publican voters will scrawl "Thanks Obama" on America's tombstone.

This is a man that denies climate change.
This is a man that has openly been racist and have degraded to minorities
This is a man that has degraded and sexually molested women.
This is a man that claims that countries that the US supports are better off alone with their own nuclear weapons.

This is the man that was chosen.

The future is truly dark.

A) Nobody has said to 'coddle racists'. This discussion is coming up because, again, people are literally throwing all white people into this bucket because of a slight majority voting for a certain candidate.

B) ASsuming everyone is racist simply because they like a racist candidate is dangerous thinking. It primarily comes down to them thinking certain issues are more important. Period. Do I think it's right to do that? Obviously not, I didn't vote for Trump. But I do think it does no good to scream at the top of your lungs at somebody about how terrible they are if you expect them to take you seriously, because...

C) YOU NEED THESE PEOPLE. At least some of them. If you didn't, Hilary would've won. You are never going to meet anyone in the middle to work out the issues in the country if you close the door before the conversation begins. Plenty of them might not meet you halfway either, fuck those people, but if you won't do it either then you're never going to get anywhere.

Racist white people are a SUBSET of people in the country, a relatively small one most likely. Then you've got the 'diet racist' white people - which I think it's more accurate to describe as racially insensitive rather than racially hateful as people would characterize them. These are people that just don't care about racial stuff, maybe have misinformed opinions in many cases, but more than anything they care more about other aspects than race. THis is probably the majority component of what we're talking about. Beyond these people, are those that vote for Trump for entirely non-racial reasons, but actually are super uncomfortable with his racial assertions, these people are probably a small minority as well. Finally, you move to white people that didn't even vote republican. Not a majority, but a VERY large number (obviously).

When you start saying "Fuck white people" you're alienating every single one of those groups, when the reality is the only one worth alienating is the first one - the actual racist fucks. The only one you can AFFORD to alienate.

I never said "fuck white people". I don't believe it's fair to cast an entire race under one stereotype.

But I will say fuck Trump voters. Fuck them all. Whether they believe they are racist or not. They've supported and voted for a racist candidate. Makes them just as bad and they need to fucking own that shit.

Excuse my ignorance since I don't know much about politics, are Republicans against social security and Medicare? My dad voted for Trump and he's on Medicare and recieves a monthly SS check so I'm worried about that now.

He might be in trouble because they are definitely going to try to "strengthen" SS by gutting it with chained cpi and other nonsense.
