PlayStation 4 Pro |Launch Thread| PS4 Reloaded

But then i get confused by this: - Connect both PS4's to the same, ideally wired, internal network. Gigabit equipment is recommended.

How can you connect both PS4's together to transfer data - if you've to connect them both to each other via internet.

Surely you should connect wirelessly to your network on both machines that way the ethernet port on each is free?

Also. . do you have to be signed in to your PSN account on both before you start the transfer?

Connecting them both to each other is just an option if you don't have the equipment for a wired network. If you do, you can just connect them both to the same network.

They just want to make sure the transfer is taking place via wired networking and not WiFi.

Outside of the hardcore bubble you wouldn't know the leading console manufacturer had a new console hitting tomorrow. I've barely seen any mainstream chatter about it whatsoever in my social spheres, it's crazy. Marketing has been pretty lackluster too.

They'll know when they go to a store looking for a console! Most casuals don't even know what they wants they just go to a store with the intention to buy something.

Do 1080p tv's have HDR tech or is it 4K only? Never really understood it.

If they do, is there a way to check if mine has HDR?

No 1080p sets support it.

Super anecdotal but my same exact wired set up is blazing fast compared to the original PS4. It's like twice as fast and seems to be approximating what my speeds actually are.

You have two options

1. Both PS4s are wirelessly connected to the router, so they have internet access. Then you connect one PS4 to the other with the ethernet cable so they can transfer directly between them. (WiFi transfer of content would...take awhile, which is why they need the cable.)

2. You plug both PS4s into the router individually. They have internet by default and can communicate with each other over the router too. This only works if you have enough ports, but it's temporary...

What you can't do, for example, is have your old PS4 wired to the internet but your Pro on Wifi. You need them both connected in the same way (otherwise you'd have no way to cable connect them)

Makes perfect sense thank you.

Question:

So I'm keeping my og Ps4, and getting the Pro. I was thinking of just letting my og keep the primary activation, and the Pro will be the additional. From what I understand, you need to buy the games on the additional unit to allow for game sharing anyhow. The only drawback I see to this is having to be online always to play digital titles.

Is this correct? Or am I missing somthing?

Anyone have luck picking one up at Target? I just got turned down in downtown Chicago and considering going to a more off-the-beaten-path store to see if they play it loose there. Not hopeful but if one person says it worked for them, I'll try.

Gamestop had extra ones. They let me reserve one for $50.

I was more hoping to get one early. Fuck I hope it doesn't sell out! I won't get to a store until like 8 or 9. I didn't even think of that when I canceled my Amazon preorder. But that 10% Target coupon lured me in.

No luck at the Halsted and Monroe GameStop...

Tried the same thing.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yeah, Gamestop ain't gonna break street date. They've got that shit locked down tight.

At the very least I have my console pre-paid for so they told me my unit is guaranteed tomorrow morning.

It's a MP game so nothing that would give Pro users an advantage.

they can make it graphically look better they just cant say change a multiplayer from ps4 30 to pro 60 fps but if a game is 60 on ps4 but with framerate drops the pro version can make it run at a steady 60 fps if they want.

Guys, it looks like the PS4 Pro HDD cradle can take 12mm drives.
Here's my 2TB 9mm drive in the cradle and it seems there's at least 3mm left. Also, it doesn't seem to be for airflow, as the cover totally blocks air rushing in there.

So option 2 would be faster? Or option 1 since you plugged both ps4's directly into each other?

Has anyone in the UK who ordered from Amazon been told their order has been dispatched. My order says it arrives tomorrow but I have not received anything to confirm this.

There are no 12mm drives, though, only 7, 9.5 and 15mm.

edit: Ah, there are three 12.5mm drives but they're 1TB or 1.5TB, so it doesn't really matter much. 3TB and larger sizes are all 15mm.

Mine is being sent by Royal Mail (which is odd. Thought it'd be by courier but it's definitely out with a tracking number for tomorrow)

Ok so i booted up World of Final Fantasy and I got a weird issue. The graphics feel grainy, especially the characters and monsters.

UI seems crisp and environments too but all the characters look grainy/low res and it's bugging me

Same here, the characters look very jaggy. I'm on a 1080 tv by the way.

Not yet. But my PSVR didn't dispatch until around midnight and still received it by 11am on launch day.

Picking this up tomorrow to improve the VR experience. I guess I'll get Robinson and maybe VR Worlds to go with what I already have. Speaking of Robinson, why is it $60 digitally on PSN when it is being sold at retail for $40?

Picking mine up tmrw morning... so excited!

Rightfully so. But there need to be more games with a patch!!
Difference is too noticeable. I play on a 1080P gaming projector and downscaling is addictive. Clean and not as much (or no) shimmering in the distance.

I tried earlier today as it was in the glass case to purchase, but the registers do not allow it because of the street date. In my experience anyways

So the transferring of data is as simple as being signed in on both consoles, connecting the consoles together with an ethernet cable, and going into the settings and transferring/copying the data?
