FFXV copies out in the wild (street date broken in Peru, possibly elsewhere)

What the actual fuck? They Ignore all the positive info said by Solid Sora and focus on the negatives.

This is basically "news" via algorithm. What gets a big reaction? Knee-jerk negativity. This is our media future (good sorts like presssneak are the exception I'm afraid), and irritating as it is in games, it's a hell of a lot scarier in other contexts :-(

Really glad I canceled my pre-order months ago. Man...Tabata strikes out again for me.

This seems a lot less satisfying to type than "pre-order canceled." You should pre-order again, THEN cancel it just to put a point on it.

I didn't actually see Terraverde, only read about it, so take this with a grain of salt:

It's the second continent we go to, and where the train ride takes place. The structure becomes more linear here, but not completely. It's instead a bunch of hub areas separated by a train ride instead of being seamlessly integrated like Lucis. Think about the difference between the structures of Witcher 3 (Lucis) and Witcher 2 (Terraverde).

Spent a few hours with the game, no frame rate issues with patch applied on PS4, it really brings me back to the feels of an epic adventure back when FF7 was released.

Oh and the map.... man it's big.

Are you able to see frame pacing issues?

Just watching the first thirty minutes of this clip we start with a sweeping shot of the food on the table illustrating we're in someone's home and then a title card for the chapter. We PSN up to Light as we hear her talking. The camera switches to Sera and Snow, Sera's body language illustrating she's the one that's really in trouble here. We go back to Light, but the camera is looking up at her, asserting that she's the dominant one in this conversation.

FFXIII is a pretty bad story. Maybe you've seen way more of XV than I have given the streams; This is far better directed than any of the in-game scenes I've seen in XV. These shots are angled and composed to at least some degree of purpose.

You don't think FFXV has stuff like this too? This is basic stuff. Just look at some of the snippets we've seen of the Judgment trailer. Leviathan's summoning in Altissia is more breathtaking than anything I remember from XIII, outside of the CG scenes. If you want to get technical, the shot spanning upwards as Leviathan comes out of the water shows how massive it is compared to the rest of the city, and the light here coming through the silhouette just shows how elegant its figure is.

I think this is pretty basic stuff. The earlier cutscenes are more brooding and somber. It's Noctis standing there doing nothing because he's bearing the burden of being a new king and being angsty. He's just heard the news of his father's death. Even later cutscenes shows a striking composition. I've spoilered, it's really not that bad, but in case you're sensitive.

It's hard to fully support my claim when the high stakes parts of the game have yet to be shown, and yeah, the game itself doesn't have many cutscenes from the footage that has been shown off. The second half still remains a mystery, and I think if some basic stuff is what you're concerned about like the framing and such, I don't see why XV won't have some of that either.

But it won't have the same effect now lol. I promise to remember this for next time.

ha ha, I imagine in the future pre-order will turn into a toggle that fans can flip back and forth to signal their current state of mind on the title. Basically like focus-grouping writ large.

"28% re-pre-order re-canceled rate when we announced the new heroine sir, time to switch back!"

Yea I gotta say, the presentation in XV seems to be lacking compared to the rest of the games in the series. Even though XV does have dynamic cutscenes with all the fancy camera work and facial animations they still have a lot of those static looking cutscenes (if you can even call them that) where the characters just stand around and talk. And then there's also the lack of story and cutscenes in general in the first half by the looks of it. I really hope it's just due to the open world nature of the first half and the more linear second half will be more in tune with what we're use to when it comes to story and presentation in Final Fantasy games.

If that's true then I'm fine with it. Though I had assumed that
the linear train part was the Nifelheim areas

This is basically my concern. It can be rolled into the worry that the story is sparse on the whole. The technical direction is definitely present in the trailers, but mostly what we've seen of the game being played has the guys standing around like lamp posts. Like, I get the feeling most of the scenes we'll be seeing won't be directed much better than when the group is interacting with Cindy for instance. That stuff looks terrible.

I think a good comparison to the scene from XIII that wmlk posted is the scene in XV where the group finds out the king is dead. That scene looks awful considering the weight it should carry. It's at a disadvantage because the idea of it is stupid on paper, but still.

This is another thing they didn't fix/improve from Type-0.

Miyazaki having that Final Fantasy checkbook would be so dangerous. Couldn't imagine how crazy and good that shit would look.

I dont know... let him do that fabled sci-fi souls first .

People assumed things.

People shouldn't have assumed things.

This world is all we have seen for three-plus years.

That's not true. Can we please not spread false info in what's essentially become an impressions thread? We've had people say that there's more.

We don't know if it's all seamless or not, but there's more.

What uh... what about that big clay map though...

Anything can change. I've cautioned folks not to treat that map as gospel, nor the recent secondhand comments on here about a three-act structure with places like Niflheim and Tenebrae. The GAFfer even noted he/she could not confirm the validity of those claims, yet it spread like wildfire because it sounds reassuring. The reality is that we may indeed wind up with just Lucis' three regions followed by Altissia and then that landmass that looks rather like it might be Solheim.

Correct me if I'm wrong, of course, but what I've found from following the evolution of this thread for several days is that someone stated what they heard someone say in a YouTube chat -- noting all-the-while that they ran far, far away as soon as they saw it -- and then people here regarded it as official. Other sites, such as GameFAQs, linked this thread and decided it was well and true.

What I have not seen is any firsthand account of any gameplay region post-Altissia.

The only one that spread false info was Squeenix with the massive clay map lol.

I'm not talking about the massive clay map. Since we got recent more updated pictures of the map, we knew that the big clay map was a load of shit. That's why we were questioning if there were other regions to the game.

You should follow the conversation then because that's what I was referring too.

I'm confused. All I'm saying is that I heard there's more in the game outside of the map that we see and the three regions. So yes, the clay map was misleading.

I think this gets into spoiler territory, so I'll PM you.

Oh oh, I can't see Altissia in the new map image. Altissia canceled from final game :-(

It is a little weird that we can't get a basically spoiler-free final confirmation on the structure of game world though, given the amount of copies out in the wild...

I am pretty certain Altissia is the bottom-right zone.

What I'm curious to be fair are the continents or land we will be able to reach with the flying Regalia for additional towns and mob hunting!
