So is this online only game likely will crap out to near death after 3 months.

Or is it more a online always Destiny type GT game.

hope this makes sense.

So all talk has been about the graphics and VR bollocks?

Can't tell if joking, trolling or being genuinely uninformed with your posts anymore. There is no amount of sound design, track editors or direct drive wheel tech that has even a fraction of the impact of a driving game/sim presented in VR instead of any form of flat display.

Man, this is looking so good, love the direct feed footage. Can't wait, just wish they had come out with the new release date.

this looks ridiculously good now. but i keep hearing people say there is no single player progression like previous games, just licenses. the rest is online. is that true?

I don't think there's none whatsoever, but online definitely is the primary mode of the game.

Lighting is unbelievable! Specially in some times of the day like these, you can't tell it's real or game. And these screenshots are from replays, not trailers.

Check the earlier Nord shot and you can see the lights reflection on the tarmac...Probably only see it during darker/later times of the day

Wait what? Why??? No campaign?

looking into it, apparently it DOES have a single player, but it doesn't have a career mode like previous entries. which is a shame, but as long as there is still a single player campaign to play and complete, i'm still in. the way i'd heard people talk about it though made it seem like there was literally no offline content besides the licences.

Jesus, I remember seeing Gran Turismo on the PS1 for the first time and thinking that it was the first time I'd seen a game that justified the term "photorealistic". I know that makes no sense to people who weren't there but it was such a leap.

Gran Turismo Sport has that same effect on me, it's bewildering in places. It still needs a polish here and there but the places have already had that polish are just ridiculous.

That step has happened to me with GT, GT3, GT5 and now this. Amazing work by the team with their lighting.

That's really strange. GT5/6 had those lights, even in daytime:

And there are lights on the ground in trailer too. Maybe that's a bug for that time of the day in this build.

I selfishly couldn't care less about the regular PS4 version now that I have a pro.

But if I was Polyphony, and technically it wasn't hard, I would always maintain 60fps, and dynamically drop the resolution any time it got too busy, to try to maintain the frame-rate. It annoys me that we are pushing for 4K now in so many games when we can't even get a steady 60fps at 1080p :-/

That said, even though this is probably my most looked forward to game, I'm trying not to care or get excited too much, since this is Gran Turismo, so it won't actually come out until 2019.

I'm wondering if it's actually something to do with the car itself, looking at the GIF you can see that it's only car with lights of that type. It's not just how the light is reflected from them but also the light flare. Compare that car's lights to the ones next to it.

I'm not suggesting that it isn't a bug, it may well be, just that those particular lights seem to be handled differently to the others for some reason.

EDIT:

Surely not JUST for GTS?
I made that for GT5 and got a ps3 just for it, it was a big mistake

Of course not as you guessed quite well, there are plenty of other games that will benefit enhancements thank to the power of the pro, but the game that I'm quite sure that it will be a real mess on PS4 og, is definitely GTS.

Finally got around to checking out all the new media and while the game looks phenomenal, for the first time since GT2 I am just not feeling any excitement about this games release. Certainly looks prettier and each release generally does but damn if it still looks very much like it will be more of the same. I really hope Im wrong and I just missed a lot of information on features that will push this game past the rut this series has been in due to my lack of enthusiasm.

Sounds went from utter shit to bad, so... progress?

Last time I played GT6 was like two years ago so my memory isn't perfect, but I find it hard to believe it was worse than this.

I'm not sure if I get your question. But considering the popularity of the GT franchise, the lack of variety of racing games on PS4, and the online communities of previous entries, I'd say it will have a healthy amount of players for a long time.

Maybe so, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's a load of bollocks to me and many others. PSVR is just an expensive dud.

With the game potentially four months away there's more important things to discuss than the looks or some crippled VR mode that only 1% of the user base will take advantage of, did Sony issue a question guide or what? It still seems to be based around gimmicks and heading on the road to ruin. :(

An online subscription based racer with tacked on VR, tacked on single player modes, tacked on gimmicks: the chance to win and collect a trophy at some FIA shindig, a gateway to spending thousands of real money on trying to acquire a real motor sport license, whatever other useless shit they're hiding - why, oh why?

They had the time, money and tools to make a grand entrance but they've stunk up the joint.

Can't unsee that the cars look like they're hovering :^)

But man, the lighting is so good in some of these pictures/gifs.

I can't see that. GT has a history of being pretty good at believable in that regard. You can even see how the distance between light on the track and car isn't a constant value but real time calculated.
