Just because the Switch might have a USB Type-C connector doesn't mean that it's going to support any type of fast charging functionality.
I thought it was a bit funny, they said something similar about n3DSUSB-C's been rumored for a while, so this is further evidence to suggest the standard.
Not the same charger type so this is kind of dumb to reference, WiiU and 3DS were also dumb proprietary standards.
Even if it doesn't it's still much better than the proprietary charging cables of previous Nintendo consoles. You still can't buy an official Wii U Gamepad charging cable, it's ridiculous.
My new phone has an USB-C charging port. It feels so nice to plug it in and it doesn't sit as loose as micro-USB usually does. (Although the micro-USB that comes with the NES Mini feels pretty solid.)

I heard this *whoosh* from lightyears away.
Awesome, USB-C charges so much faster, I have it on my phone. Nintendo this cable better be included in the box tho.
You can buy a gamepad cable just have to get it direct from nintendo, i got one cost me £15
3rd party USB cables are far better anyways
I got an official cable from Nintendo for 25, but I like the Deltex cables better
USB-C is the greatest port. Glad Nintendo is using modern industry standards.
Indeed.Amen ! Now for me the battery life isn't a problem at all if I can charge it with my power bank.
Breaking news: Headphone jack removed. Instead, a USB-C adapter with legacy ports will be available in Mario/Luigi/Peach/Bowser colours.
just kidding
COURAGE
you forgot to mention dongles
Yeah this. No more proprietary nonsense. Will be easy to keep the device charged. Like with the capacitive touch screen it seems they're finally making use of modern tech. Really important step-change for Nintendo. I think Switch could be a great success.
Edit: saw the fast charging comments. Yes! Hope so. Could help soften the blow if it really does have poor portable battery life. 4 hours game time is cool if you can fully charge it in like 15-30 minutes.
