First Nintendo Switch accessories shows up on EBGames Aus. Includes USB-C cable.

The accessories are by atplay/@play whoever they are.

Oh good point. I wonder if these are officially licensed though, and they just don't have any official promotional material yet. In any case I like that carrying case, as well as the little slots for game cards. Definitely going to get that if it comes to NA.

Type C being the type that doesn't require you to twist and turn the connector in the 4th dimension to plug it into the USB port?

Great news if true. My phone is already USB-C so I have plenty of accessories already.

The quick charging on my phone is a revelation, I really hope the Switch has that.

Please help me with my bad english
Just because the Switch might have a USB Type-C connector doesn't mean that it's going to support any type of fast charging functionality.

Even if it doesn't it's still much better than the proprietary charging cables of previous Nintendo consoles. You still can't buy an official Wii U Gamepad charging cable, it's ridiculous.

Interesting, if true.

I mean, they've clearly not got access to any samples that they can actually use to put in the case, so at best this would be based on provided specs - at worst, rumoured ones. On the other hand, unless I've just missed stuff, I don't think USB-C has been especially tossed about as a suggestion, so to go with it would require quite a bit of confidence.

Alternatively, could be the charger for the pro controller.

USB-C's been rumored for a while, so this is further evidence to suggest the standard.

Not the same charger type so this is kind of dumb to reference, WiiU and 3DS were also dumb proprietary standards.
I thought it was a bit funny, they said something similar about n3DS

My new phone has an USB-C charging port. It feels so nice to plug it in and it doesn't sit as loose as micro-USB usually does. (Although the micro-USB that comes with the NES Mini feels pretty solid.)

You can buy a gamepad cable just have to get it direct from nintendo, i got one cost me £15

The difference now is that everyone also using Android will still likely ask if they can temporarily borrow your charging cable and you can't. MicroUSB was probably the most convenient cable on the planet since almost everything uses it, including controllers and even basic phones.

Breaking news: Headphone jack removed. Instead, a USB-C adapter with legacy ports will be available in Mario/Luigi/Peach/Bowser colours.

just kidding

Now I hope you can fast charge it as well. My phone is USB-C and with a special charger (Power Dash or something) it charges up super fast. Super convenient.

Okay, nice that it's USB-C. I'll just need only one cable for my smartphone and Switch charging (and probably one power brick as well). And hopefully it supports a form of quick charging as well.

3rd party USB cables are far better anyways
I got an official cable from Nintendo for €25, but I like the Deltex cables better

Huh, didn't know that. I definitely need to buy one, my Wii U cable has started to fray quite badly and it's not exactly safe like that.

USB-C is the greatest port. Glad Nintendo is using modern industry standards.

Yeah this. No more proprietary nonsense. Will be easy to keep the device charged. Like with the capacitive touch screen it seems they're finally making use of modern tech. Really important step-change for Nintendo. I think Switch could be a great success.

Edit: saw the fast charging comments. Yes! Hope so. Could help soften the blow if it really does have poor portable battery life. 4 hours game time is cool if you can fully charge it in like 15-30 minutes.

After picking up a new Macbook Pro (which is backordered, harumph) I'm ready to go all-in on USB-C hardware. Let's do this.

USB charging would be great. Should allow me to use portable battery packs. Lessens the importance of battery life some, for me at least.

Can't help but feel like Nvidia partnering with Ninty is one of the best things to happen. They must've been involved with this decision to some degree.

The likely presence of capacitive over resistive screens in the switch is probably more due to the fact that next to noone is making resistive screens anymore, much less at the resolution/size they'd be looking for here. Inclusion of USB is definitely a big plus, though I'd wager that had more to do with Nintendo relaxing their design control and allowing Nvidia a bit more free reign on hardware accoutrements. On the flipside, however, I think you'd have a hard time designing a proprietary port that could both power/charge this kind of device and have enough bandwidth to support 1080p60 display throughput, much less do so at an economical cost versus licensing the pre-existing usb3/c standard.

I'm looking forward to the Anker or Nintendo battery solutions.

Hopefully someone makes a battery case
