Ignis has an ability in one of the trees that auto-casts libra right at the start of battle, then you can see their weaknesses when you lock on to them.

As for magic, you shouldn't really have to draw too much. Put the 24 ap or so into the first greater draws, then supplement your spells with all of the junk you accumulate on hunts and killing monsters. Not only does that make your magic stronger, but also increases the yields from the default 3 casts to much higher. 11 Fira will last you quite a while since you probably won't need to use it on most monster groups that are only 2-3 enemies. In fact, I mostly use it only when the magitek armies spawn since they start up all grouped, and you can normally end the fight instantly.

For magic, this has been working well for me up to now, level 25 or so in chapter 5 or 6. Not sure how viable it is later in the game.

Get the Ascension skill that adds +30 to power for each flask you create. Buy sweet peppers from the car's shop. Equip the Royal Arms rod thing that gives you magic boost (no need to actually use it).

Create magic with just 1 point of the element you want and add a sweet pepper. That will give you tricast, power 32, which with the additional magic bonus from the rod should be enough to do serious damage as long as you are using the element that your enemies are weak to.

Example, magitek drop ships. So far, for me using the method above, Thunder takes out the entire set of troops in 1 shot no matter what level they are. No melee required.

Then get the skill that gives you 1 AP per cast, and you effectively have a mage build that is only limited by your spells cool down rate.

Awesome, thanks! I've just been dumping all of my drawn magic points each time I create a spell. That was dumb, apparently.

Still haven't finished Chapter 7 and I'm level 64 now. I CANNOT STOP DOING SIDE QUESTS AND HUNTS.

imhavingsomuchfunthodontletitend

I know that feel. Chapter 8, level 75, sitting on almost 200k exp.

I just feel like I have to do it all before moving on. lol

Pitioss Ruins is something else.

Who... who would have thought that the hardest thing in Final Fantasy XV is also the LAST thing I'd expect to see in it.

My hands are so sweaty, my nerves are shot and my head is aching.

Should I do side quests and level up in Chapter 8 or should I go to Altissia and start Chapter 9 to get access to the x3 hotel? But then again, I won't be able to return to the mainland for some time right? So I won't be able to do all the side quests for exp anyway.

I'm currently lvl 45 but of course I want to be much stronger and start prepare for the post game.

Just finished it. Got some real mixed feelings on it. I can only really sum it up as being Final Fantasy's MGSV.

Some things about it I thought were great, some I thought were weak but Squeenix could learn from for future games. Some things I could tell were a result of knowing they weren't going to get enough time to do what they wanted with it, and some things were just straight trash (yes, ch13 I'm looking at you.). So glad I was over levelled for that area though, I can't imagine how tedious it would have been to play it normally.

The game had potential but just isn't as cohesive as it should be - needed better cutscenes and more of them to deliver narrative. The ones in there now appear at odd, seemingly random times and end just as abruptly. The whole thing ends up having weird pacing. Needed more time with some of the other characters to see what makes them tick. Some of the later areas could all have used more stuff to do. The game generally needed more time in the oven... but after its 10 year on/off development, we all know there was no way Squeenix would allow that. Needed less fetch quests tho...

I'm sure there is a lot of cut content, so let's see what they are willing to add to the game in future. I'll consider doing a NG+ at that point.

You'll be able to return to the mainland pretty quickly

So I got the Pro and don't see much of a difference between High and Lite on a 1080p TV besides performance issues lol.

You mean the wall where you jumped down from?
There's another exit behind the spot where Deadeye was resting.

The one behind Dead Eye is the one with the problem. Noct slides out but once he appears on the other side he is trapped in the wall. He can only go back into the area.

No offense, maybe you should also invest in a pair of glasses for the full Pro experience. ;)

Is there a rule for when the regalia fast travels somewhere as opposed to driving and making you watch? I've been doing a bunch of side quests and feel like I'm spending more time watching the car driving than playing

And with that I have beaten my first Final Fantasy. I got far in a few before but never finished.

Congratulations, how does it feel?

My first played and completed FF was 7
I beat the game, dupped every materia, got every weapon and final break, lvl 99 everyone even secret characters.
In all I say I 99.99℅ it. Just didn't collect every enemy attack in some special summon.

Felt worth it. I was in middle school at that time so I had a lot of time.
Wouldn't be able to do that now.

Also beat FF9. That was was great too.

Now my goal is to finish Final Fantasy on NES and this one FFXV

The strategy guide gives some great advice on how to turn Noctis into a full fledged black mage and I love it. I thought I would hate the magic system but it really is brilliant. For my next playthrough, I am going to go even more nuts with magic and be a true spell slinger.

Only downside is that you can't heal other members with spells :(

What are some key points from the guide?

Welp, I've spent 4 nights after work uninstalling, reinstalling, repatching, unplugging the PS4, rebuilding the database, and trying different accounts, and I can't get this thing to allow me to save.

Any other ideas before I send this back to Gamefly and try again in 6 months?

I had more problem fighting the damn bees than the Coeurl's for some reason, that fight went like a breeze. Still to fight the Elders though...

Spend AP on the magic tree, especially the nodes offering more absorption from magic deposits. Equip Noctis with magic raising gear and weapons that increase with magic (for example, use royal weapons that use Magic as the main parameter such as the staff or crossbow). A good crossbar setup should be: 2 weapons (1 elemental energy absorber/ 1 Royal arms) + 2 spells of your choosing. You can also go 1 weapon and 3 spells if you want to go nuts!

In chapter 8 and level 50 equipped with Ultima Weapon. Should be set for the rest of the game but I want more. Accumulating exp and staying a night in the Golden Quay is worth it. And finally being able to take down a red giant felt so good!

Going to grind some gil (confirmed to be an hard g. I'm satisfied.) to get the fishing gear in Vesperpool and then do something I only do when I'm forced to: fishing.

Like the game so much I want the Platinum.

Has anyone figured out AP farming? EXP is given out like fucking candy but the shit you need a lot of, there is no way other than just grinding it.

I just wrapped up chapter 5 at level 61. There really aren't any enemies that can hurt me any more, except those stupid coeurls.

Are you talking about the level 38ish hunt for 6 bees near the volcano? I just did that and it was the first time I have gotten frustrated so far.

Woah... gonna have to try this. The AP trickle on vehicles doesn't really seem worth it. Maybe early on, but not later.

I fucking hate them. It wouldn't be so bad if your party members weren't complete idiots, they just run in and get taken down in one hit.
