I'm in chapter 5 and have about 30k xp saved up. Will I be able to get to / cash it into the 3x place before they make me stay somewhere, or should I go to the 2x hotel?

2x is the highest you can go so far. Do it before meeting what's her face in the hotel after the music gets all serious for no reason.

Chapter 7 glitch out for anyone else? The part where the
Iron Giant breaks the bridge didn't trigger correctly. He's supposed to fall down and fight you, right?
That never happened and now I think I have to reload a chapter 6 save.. Kinda pissed.

Happened to a couple of us.

I just reloaded my last automatic checkpoint save from before entering the dungeon. Problem fixed.

Did you try to leave and re-enter the dungeon before loading such an old save?

Haven't reloaded yet. I'll try re-entering first. I just put the PS4 into rest mode and gave up earlier. I also for some reason forgot about auto saves. Thanks.

Any tips on Adamantoise? Not only it is taking forever, but I can't seem to string a combo together. Noctis always stops after 1 or 2 hits.

I outleveled the beast in Malmalan Thicket and it was still disabling me and my teammates in one swift hit. I didn't even see it hardly moving to attack, it would merely turn and we'd die. Not sure if it's bugged for me or what, but I'm not even bothering with that shit again until I'm level 99.

OMG I am so shocked by this game. The fact that it has ZERO pacing just makes it feel so odd to play.

Hated the first chapter and how they handled the story, then started to appreciate the combat and world only to be crushed by chapter 10 onwards.

Chapter 9 was OK but pitiful compared to the reveal trailer (which was rendered, but still)

Cutscenes start, are handled well and then just end aprubtly and lead to itsfuckingnothing.gif
It's almost as if I watch someone who is dreaming the plot due to its bizarre fragmented nature. It makes no sense, I cannot provide a coherent summary of what is happening. This is an issue that I couldn't understand with XIII since I was able to follow that game well enough but they dropped the ball hard in XV

I mean yeah I tried to focus on the gameplay and take these issues for granted beforehand but boy is it hard. I am not disappointed but rather shocked. This is seriously part XV, a mainline entry for a thirty year old franchise? I was able to finish XII and XIII and found them to be good but their issues are fairly apparent. XV totally takes the crown though.

And yeah chapter 13 is long and boring. Way to end a messy game with an even messier gameplay segment from babbies first dungeon-crawler generator

I'm sorry if this sounds negative and I don't want to hurt people who are really into this game but to me this is definitely the most amateurish high profile game I have ever played and I am just super sad for everyone involved (they surely worked their asses off) and the series as a whole. SE should respect this property more.

I completely, wholeheartedly agree with everything you said.

I just beat the game & I am so gutted.''Amateurish'' is the word to describe.

I just feel sad about it.This game comes off is belonging to a new studio's first foray into RPG or something like that.

Just finished it. Got some real mixed feelings on it. I can only really sum it up as being Final Fantasy's MGSV.

Some things about it I thought were great, some I thought were weak but Squeenix could learn from for future games. Some things I could tell were a result of knowing they weren't going to get enough time to do what they wanted with it, and some things were just straight trash (yes, ch13 I'm looking at you.). So glad I was over levelled for that area though, I can't imagine how tedious it would have been to play it normally.

The game had potential but just isn't as cohesive as it should be - needed better cutscenes and more of them to deliver narrative. The ones in there now appear at odd, seemingly random times and end just as abruptly. The whole thing ends up having weird pacing. Needed more time with some of the other characters to see what makes them tick. Some of the later areas could all have used more stuff to do. The game generally needed more time in the oven... but after its 10 year on/off development, we all know there was no way Squeenix would allow that. Needed less fetch quests tho...

I'm sure there is a lot of cut content, so let's see what they are willing to add to the game in future. I'll consider doing a NG+ at that point.

I feel the same way.

Just finished the game, with almost 50 hours in, on level 57. I loved the first 8 chapters, then everything went downhill from there for me. I was enjoying the sidequests, I actually finished all of them and was rather disappointed to know there's no more in the next chapters.

Some of my biggest plot problems, SPOILERS:
My biggest and most major problem is, you can't make a love story without any chemistry. I am not feeling it. I didn't feel it in the trailers, I didn't feel it in the footage I saw before the game, now that I'm done with the game, I still don't feel it. There was 0 romance. Especially considering they put them on the title screen and everything, making it a lot more about them two than anything else. It really does not deserve that spot. They were two childhood friends who haven't seen each other in a very long time, then they're arranged to be married for convenience and they're both OKAY with it, then she died and suddenly there was romance? Common people, that's not how it works. It's like those heroes that have 0 buildup, then they die and BAM flashbacks to flesh them out and give them some personality, just so that you feel even worse about them dying. It's sloppy. I liked the whole 'guys on an adventure' part, those were my favourite times. Did NOT like the unexplained 10 years period at all. Or how they knew he'd come back. Or where he'd come. Or why he'd come. Or that he would die. I also don't like the missing pieces in Ardyn's backstory. Too many of them. Who exactly is he? How did he get the demon power, how did he become immortal, why is it that Noct was the only chosen one that can stop him if he truly has been waiting for this for many Lucian generations? How did he trick the Niffs into turning their entire nation into daemons? In fact, these guys deserved a little bit more than what they got, considering they rule majority of the world. Especially the king. Why was the Ifrit battle so much more epic than the one with Ardyn? Why do you see the Ifrit battle at the beginning of the game? WHY DID NOCTIS SHAVE HIS BEARD AT THE AFTER-CREDIT SCENE?! Also, why was there an after credit scene with a happy ending? This feels like it was meant to have two endings, possibly depending on choices, but instead you get an after-credit 'dream' and choices throughout conversations that have absolutely no meaning, affect or whatsoever and are basically pointless and completely unnecessary. But hey, choices in conversations! Why not.

Maybe I missed some things and I just don't get it. Open for discussion!

I really can't agree with this.

MGSV was immensely polished. The gameplay in there is absolute top tier within its genre ,but that's certainly not analogous to FFXV gameplay within the ARPG genre.

In addition,MGSV had extremely refined stylistic polish and consistency everywhere whether in voice acting or cutscenes.Complete opposite to FFXV's jankfest.

END GAME SPOILERS:
That after credits scene did not really happen, it's there to finally reunite Noctis and Luna in the afterlife. It's kinda of a bitter sweet ending, but their roles were fulfilled.

Really? Where did you hit.

What I did was hit his foot over and over. It's the easiest but takes around 2 hours.

Stocked up on cures and emptied on potion and hi-potions in the end.

Always use Noctis' Armiger as soon as you can do and Gladiolus' Impulse for massive damage.

both falters in the end. MGSV's was worse, the last few chapters clearly wasn't what Kojima wanted to end it on.

I'm in ch. 11 and have no idea what's going on either or why stuff is happening but I'm enjoying the tighter pace of the game. But frankly, this is the single worst storytelling in a high profile RPG I have ever seen. There is no reason for the player to give a fuck about anything at any point in the story. I feel so detached from everything.

No joke: the abrupt transition from Ch. 4 to Ch. 5 made me think that this game was about parallel universe Noctises (Nocti? Noctium?). I thought the game was going to be told in 6 parts, each a different universe. In each universe, Noctis would have had a different road trip with his bros, and as a result come into contact with a different summon. After earning the respect of that summon, he would get on an airship with Ardyn and the game would move over to the next universe. At the end of the game. all 6 Noctises have been gathered onto Ardyn's universe-crossing airship, and they fuse into one to take down the great darkness or something.

But I guess you just blew that theory out of the water!

"Shocked but not disappointed" actually describes how I feel pretty well. Like, I'm having a good enough time with the game. It's fun. But it's truly exceptional in how wrongly it manages to tell its simple story. I should probably save my thoughts until I'm fully through the game, though, just in case it does manage to justify itself with a parallel universe subplot or something.

I honestly wish this was actually the story. Lol
