Playing through English voices right now, but surprisingly, I enjoy both. I'll probably play Japanese on my first playthrough.

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to the
relationship that forms between 2B and 9S
. Good stuff.

...Except I died at the end.

I'm looking forward to trying the demo but I'm a bit worried about how I'll handle the combat system. I love playing Action RPGs like Tales, Kingdom Hearts, and the Souls series but I'm terrible at character action games like Revengeance. I hope the combat clicks with my when I try it out tomorrow.

Tales of Besteria is that bad huh?
Of course it's better than a game that doesn't exist!

Best we just get that out the way lol

Wow, that was a pretty good demo. Only bad thing I thought were the controls where they were a bit hard to get used to. Man, never felt this good evading enemies.

Yeah hopefully FF7R turns out to be a cinematic masterpiece like Asura's Wrath. Fingers crossed!

:/ I loved Asura's wrath despite its gameplay issues, hopefully they have learned a bit from the staff in SE taking part on how to do real action RPG combat. And then i hope they take that and utilize it in games they make on their own

Just finished the demo... Wow, that's how you freaking make a great ARPG. I'm all aboard the hype train.

Ending G: Ashes of Dreams starts playing and you're trapped in the menu for eternity

This is gold lol.
Does anyone know specific time this demo is hitting the US store btw?

This game is fucking INCREDIBLE. I just finished the demo and I'm all jittery. Going to play it a few dozen more times no doubt.

God, it's so slick. Between Star Fox Zero and TMNT, Platinum had a bad 2016, but they are back, baby. 2B feels every bit as good to control as Bayonetta; honestly maybe even moreso. 2B's dodge is so fast and responsive, there's absolutely zero downtime between dodges and no penalty for dodging too many times in a row. If you hold the dodge button and keep moving you transition straight into the sprint, which feels about as fast as Bayo's Panther mode.

Combo-ing is pretty simple, more along the lines of Revengeance. I haven't fully worked it out yet, but you get different combos depending on whether you hold or mash, and whether you're moving or not. If you hold Triangle while standing still 2B will charge up a big Vergil-style Iaido attack; release the button before the flash and she'll do an overhead slice, wait for the flash and she'll do a horizontal slice. She throws out the sword Round Trip style in the mash Square combo, whereas the hold Square combo looks like Raiden's infinite combo in Revengeance. Heavy Attack in the air for Helm Breaker, Square for Aerial Rave. I couldn't find a Stinger or a launcher, but they might have to be unlocked in the full game.

The soundtrack is incredible, the original Nier's cheeky camera tricks and gameplay switchups are alive and well, and, God, that bossfight. A full on, multi-stage Jubileus-sized boss that plays like a Greatest Hits compilation of previous Platinum bossfight tropes right here in this free demo. Platinum da gawds.

Hah!

Hearing all this good news has me so stupidly excited. And just to think that only a couple months ago all I knew about Nier was "I think its kinda related to those dragon-something games?" Thank you Pat & Liam for getting me into this.

Is there a way to turn off these black bars and subtitles for cutscenes? Shit is annoying.

Other than that, GOTY 2017

Even going down the ladder in this game is stylish

So many touches in the animations. I'm in heaven.

I absolutely love that they give you control during the text-box dialogue cutscene part. You can only walk around in a circle, but 2B's walk cycle is so full of character and sass that it's a joy to watch.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

Beauty in its destruction. Beauty in its execution.

So much beauty.

I shouldn't have played this demo because now all I can think about is March 7th.

Seems alright.

If you swap the weapons(up on dpad by default) it actually gives them both a different moveset.

And yeah the weird transparent box was in Nier also, guess they wanted to keep that for some reason.
