Pretty much this. Rise of the Tomb Raider syndrome.

I was interested in it before the exclusivity deal. It's been out for the PS4 for months-- and I still haven't bought it. I probably won't, either.
That's the case when the game isn't omg-awesome.

When Rocket League came to Xbone it was very successful, because Rocket League is one of the best games ever made.

When it comes to Switch I will also buy it because the only thing better than Rocket League at home is Rocket League everywhere.

I still believe this is just a troll. That game coming out after that troubled history would be kind of a miracle. Hope I'm wrong, though.

Makes sense. It would be hard otherwise for a game of such a large scope, rumored at least, to do well as Ubisoft hopes selling on the Switch.

I did not imply that.

You explained why it's probably not getting backlash and I think the argument that you proposed is probably part of the reason it's not getting any backlash and I did not mean to put words in your mouth or imply that you meant it was acceptable I just tried to pose a question to why people for some reason thinking that it's acceptable because of your proposal.

What I think is also another reason for one of the biggest timed exclusives ever not getting backlash on this forum is that the xbox fanbase is in a minority here while the the Playstation is in a majority and the PC fanbase is used to getting games late and don't make a big deal out of it because of that.

Also FF7 was out on PC pretty close to launch so...

I just read this somewhere and I wanted to comment on it:

FF7 is available on Playstation and PC at a later date. FF7:R will be available on PS4 and most likely PC at a later date. It's a different situation from other games. Tomb Raider was on PS,Xbox,PC whereas ROTTR was Xbox only at launch.

Now this is what I dont about an exclusive or timed exclusive deal. If its multi platform before why lock it down? Why have it timed?

Again I understand why it happens but still...

And these deals only effect me for games I actually wanna play. I didnt really go crazy for Bayonetta 2 but BG&E2 would be a game to make me get a Switch.

Neither I.

Also, this "salt" thing is quickly becoming tired here in NeoGaf.

LEARN how to read thing, then talk about salty replies.

Salt just means opinion I disagree with. It's the same shit as hate, outrage, or any other thing people throw out in response to disagreement.

Poster A: "I think A"
Poster B: "I think B"

Given the previous rumour (from the same person no less!) was that BG&E2 was a Switch exclusive, I'd have thought people would be happy to hear that it's only timed.

Silly me.

This.

This way more people get to play but nope people will moan regardless.

I edited my post to make myself a bit clearer. Take this for example:

Situation 1
FF7 released on PS1
FF7 released on PC at a later date
FF7R will release on PS4
FF7R will very likely release on PC at a later date

Situation 2
Tomb Raider released on PS3,Xbox,PC on the same day
ROTTR released on Xbox, then PC a month later, then PS4 a year later.

It's easy to spot why one would be more forgiving of situation 1 than 2.

Pathetic response imo.

Talk about "salt"... :D

The game has been waited on for a long time and no doubt there are people that will want to get the game on the first system to sell it.

You are abstracting things by talking about "people". like you have the "numbers".

FOR SURE there are"people" out there waiting for the game. The problem is the amount of this people.

As someone else said, this is more of a prestige project. And Nintendo Switch does not need prestige projects a-la Shenmue 3. It needs substance.

Exactly.

If there are some who are salty that it isnt a Switch exclusive....well...lol.

Like I said earlier Ill be shocked if it isnt a Switch exclusive. It being timed gives some of us more options. Knowing its timed I will probably not get it for the Switch now.

I want to play it, esclusive or not I don't care. I'll play on Switch because of handheld mode anyway, maybe one year later I'll play again on PC for uber graphics if will be worth.

Quite interesting that Nintendo are continuing with their strategy of buying exclusivity of cult franchises, or games from cult directors.

Prediction: BG&E2 will sell poorly on Switch because it won't be the type of system where people want to play a game like that on and because people will know about the timed exclusivity and so they won't buy a switch for it, then when it releases on other systems people won't buy it because it'll seem like old news

LOL. There is absolutely no basis for this whatsoever

Some of the responses I'm reading in this thread are insane. Either people disappointed BGE2 will be a "budget" title due to being developed on the Switch first or people pulling baseless predictions out of thin air.

Yeah, people who own Nintendo systems totally hate Zelda clones. The real money there is on Xbox and PlayStation.

I don't think that will be an issue - they will do what Sony do and simply obfuscate that it will come to other platforms after a time. People on the web and forums like this will say the deal changed or didn't and will argue about it till it eventually is officially confirmed. Works for the other systems; don't see why it won't for switch.

Calling it - Zelda is being pushed back to June because BG&E2 is a launch title and Nintendo are trying to avoid the Zelda train steamrolling the shit out of quirky, French Zelda - regardless of how good it is.

This is quite possibly the most ludicrous thing I've read since this crazy NX ride started.

No. Just no.

Well... this makes sense in the context of everything and the rumors and leaks about the game. We know it is coming out. I had thought it was to be a full exclusive.

I loved BG&E and I am of two minds sad the sequel is getting (potentially because of presumed low install base) trotted out to die on Switch w 12 months exclusivity, but happy it got made at all. Sad that low sales will make 3 not a thing, but still happy it got made at all. I am relatively sure Nintendo had a hand in this even being a thing, if so, good for them and they deserve it.

I will own a switch and wait for it on PC..unless it is a full exclusive in which case.. yeah..

seems silly to give the exclusive to a console with install base of 0 when they're bringing back a franchise and should give it to the platforms with well, 80 million + PC ww?

I love how so much people from the future have already leaked that the sales were bad in their timeline.
So, how's Trump presidency going in other news?

Yeah sony has become the master at obfuscating, confusing and straight up lying about if a game is exclusive to their platform or not. for example the current shit going on with NieR: Automata where the devs has confirmed a PC release but sony still calls it a playstation exclusive both on marketing and in their conferences

A game like what? We don't know anything about this game. It could be on the same level as ReCore. A totally fine AA game that doesn't want to be a AAA graphics explosion. That should work totally fine on Switch.

Nah, Sony got shit for SFV. Perhaps not as much (the exclusivity deals aren't 1:1) but it is blatantly false to say the community turned a blind eye.
There wasn't much on NeoGaf really. SFV got shit on for other reasons mainly and when the game bombed console exclusivity wasn't blamed (unlike ROTR), despite being a similar drop in sales from it's multiplatform predecessor.

Hmm... I don't believe any of the BG&E2 on Switch rumours to be honest. Not yet, anyway.

The previous leak stated a planned 2018 release date for it but I don't think that will ever happen. The game is (even now) supposed to have "planet exploration , space travel , cities..." and it's still in pre-production phase (or at least it was in October).
Today's leak claims the PS4/XBO/PC release will be digital only, which is hard to believe. I don't even think this would even be decided at this point, but oh well. It also comes along with news of the Rabbids x Mario crossover being titled "Rabbids Kingdom Battle", with no trace of Mario in the title.

All those leaks smell a little strange to me. It would make sense if it was a low-budget title, but I don't think a low-budget title would have space travel, so I'll just wait and see.

Seems silly to release any game since it has an install base of 0.
The Switch should only get multi ugly games. In fact it shouldn't even get released, there's Mario Run on phones.

Reading some comments here is such a chore.

Yes, no one should ever develop for a new platform. When PS5 is coming out I expect everyone to support the Switch instead.

Switch will still have more ram and a better, more modern GPU than anything from the PS3/X360 era when he made that comment.
Switch is a very modern design, that supports vulkan and the latest shader techniques. The CPU might be clocked lower than what some people expected at first, but that's not the only thing that's important.

For example: It plays Zelda a lot smoother on Switch compared to the wiiU footage we saw.
Zelda looks like ass.
PS4 and Xbone are already starting to show their age, so i don't think a developer claiming how impossible it was to develop for older hardware, has that much leeway in terms of working on underpowered HW, and there's no other way to call the Switch, assuming the various rumors are true, it is meant to be a portable after all.

A bit better than Ps3, isn't really inspiring at all.

Unfortunately Nintendo still keeps going in this direction with their HW, and i can't really fault them, as Sony seems to have really cornered the hardcore market, they do what they can, but i can't say i'm happy that one of the titles that allegedly needed all this power to work, is going to be tailored around their gimmicks.

That is, assuming this rumor is even true, for the sake of argument.

Awesome for the switch.

The hype for this has pretty much died for me, so i'm in no rush for it. Still great that its still in production, and for all consoles no less.
