Nioh | Last Chance Trail Reveal Trailer | PS4

Im not really good at souls games but I really like how this one looks so I'm interested but if I can barely make it past the first stage I don't have the time to invest with alot of other games around the corner as well. I tried with Bloodborne (beat with a friend at least) and dark souls 3 (got nowhere) so I don't really want to burn another $60 if I still don't understand how to play. Get it?
You could try a ninjutsu magic build. I've seen dudes cheese their way easily.

Weekend just got real busy. Hopefully the Pro enhancements are included so can try out how they work, hopefully DigitalFoundry or somebody else does tests on them.

Not gonna lie, I was a bit put off by the game as well. I think it's me not acclimating to the controls and nuances of the game though. In the first alpha, I made it to the first boss in the boat and got stomped a few times and quit.

I've platinum'd Bloodborne and DkS2, beat DkS1 and most of DkS3 and Demons Souls (got bored). I don't think I'm a scrub at these types of games.

I'll give it one last chance though to win me over. I feel like it's a game I should do some research on or something, to learn how to play better.

You know what I never touched the magic at all lol. I'll give that a shot

Like I get the small basics but I still feel like I'm missing something important. I finally got that ki charge down at the end of the first beta tho.

Can I select 1080p60 if attached to a 4K display.

If so, then sold (we so need these options on Pro, I take 1080p60 every time)

Yes you have an option to choose within the game settings to play in movie mode or action mode for both og ps4 and ps4 pro

I just read that it's the marks you gain after defeating a boss that counts towards receiving the helmets/masks. So I guess it doesn't matter if you didn't complete the alpha, but as long as you get the Mark of the Conqueror and Mark of the Strong in the beta, you get the helmets as a rewards.

I got both marks after I completed the beta, since I didn't get Mark of the Conqueror during the alpha.

I imagine that those who failed to complete the alpha and beta will be a (last) chance to earn the marks during this final demo.

Is the demo essentially a chunk of the main game or its own separate thing? Just trying to avoid spoilers etc.

Meh. There are plenty of videos of people cheesing the game without magic (specifically the axe/hammer stamina cheese). Let's not do the usual Dark Souls "magic is for newbs. . ." thing here.

What is this talk about action mode/movie mode etc?

Is it like: When you control the character it's 60 fps. When you watch a cutscene it's 30fps.

Something like that?

Action mode is for people who want a higher framerate at the cost of resolution. Vice versa for the other mode.

The Playstation 4 version of the Nioh beta demo uses different native resolutions depending on which game mode is chosen. Movie mode seems to run at 1920x1080 and, unlike the alpha demo, the resolution doesn't seem to drop below that. Action mode uses a dynamic resolution that seems to switch between 1280x720 and roughly 1660x935.

It improved the resolution from alpha to beta so there might be improvements from beta to final release

But the action mode from the beta is almost a 60 lock apart from a few frames being dropped.

There are 2 optional modes you can select based on your preference. Action mode has the game running at 720p-900p at 60fps. Movie mode is 1080p at 30fps.

Movie mode just closes the game and boots up Uncharted 4.

Movie mode is higher resolution with better aliasing and other eye candy. I doubt very few people will play this game at 30 fps. Maybe those with a Pro and 4K displays.

Wait; it's available today?! Damn man, I'm like a quarter of the way through Bloodborne and I just downloaded the demos for Tomb Raider and Watch Dogs 2 last night! Might have to skip it as I'm getting it anyway.

Is this confirmed to be a newer version with Pro support?

Yes these are the pro options

PS4 Pro, HD display. Option 1: “Movie Mode”
Stable 1920×1080 resolution with high quality anti-aliasing at 30fps

PS4 Pro, HD display. Option 2: “Action Mode”
Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps

PS4 Pro, 4K display. Option 1: “Movie Mode”
Stable 3840×2160 resolution at 30fps

PS4 Pro, 4K display. Option 2: “Action Mode”
Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps

I actually think the 60/30 option should be a standard thing for this kind of game. In the alpha I didn't think the 60fps version looked much worse anyways.

Which is awesome because I played only the last few hours of the alpha and didn't get passed the first demon.

Thank you for this! Great. Now, to wait until Sony decides to publish this on the NA store. Let's hope the beta isn't over by then.

That does not bode well for the full game if they are worried, or whatever the reason is.

SONY has been up this games ass since E3 and especially at PSX. They have had two successful product demonstrations for the public with the beta improving on the alpha, and it looks like the "Last Chance" trial has iterated as well. If they weren't confident in the game, there is no way you would have had three chances to try the game in the year before launch. They get user feedback and continually improving word of mouth.

No, differs in levels also Twilight versions of maps are available.

Unlikely. A stage in the previous demo was very clearly during the day/low evening. The second stage of the previous demo also was during the day, though you spent the majority of the time in a cave.

Hell yes. Already got the game pre-ordered, but I'm excited to see the changes since the last beta. Cannot wait for this game.

Is there any word on a 3rd unlockable helmet for this demo?

Yup

Awesome. Now time to play the waiting game.

If this beta is great I might pick this up day one. At first Nioh was a game I planned to pick up on a sale but now with the news of pvp I am very excited

If I can actually get pass the boss this time I'll buy this day one. Love souls and onimusha but the alpha kicked my ass. Don't wanna waste money on it.
