The devs that will understand that, for a little bit of a downgrade in visuals, most would buy a portable version, will make money.

Skyrim? I've owned this game since it's release on steam. Portable ? Day 1
Dark souls ? I own all games on steam, if From offers portable souls? Day 1
Overwatch ? I own it since launch, portable? Day 1

But, it's way more edgy to just say NO,HAHAHAHHAHAHA. OMGZ SWITCH FOR KIDDIES

Son when was the last time you checked your sodium level?

So much projecting.

All the people saying "it's just a piece of plastic" are getting just as offended when you point out that Titanfall 2 also underperformed 🤔

Why would someone get mad at that? It's the truth.

People are probably mad because Nintendo fans are deflecting using that excuse, as if Nintendo games never bomb. It happens to everyone.

I can't believe some people act so unhinged under the influence of a few alcoholic beverages. I just can't fathom it. And now because of what he said, he's made a lot of enemies for life. I hope it was worth the slanderous talk for a few free drinks, you jackass. This video will haunt you for years.

As someone who both loves Titanfall 2 and has a Switch preorder, I absolutely get where he's coming from. The Switch looks like it's going to be an incredible portable console, but I don't think it needs chopped up, watered down ports, and I don't imagine that such ports would fare super well anyway. The Switch isn't going to get every modern PS4/Xbox/PC game, and that's okay, because it can carve out its own space.

So what? If I wanted to play those kinds of games, I'd have a PS4 or a PC. I don't think anyone buys a Nintendo system because they're interested in playing stuff like Titanfall. This is a loss for precisely nobody.

Yep.
Nintendo's brand image, typical marketing strategies, and software ecosystem attracts audiences that overwhelming reject games like Titanfall in favor of platformers, kart racers, and even party games (i.e Nintendo-like stuff).

Titan Fall would flop hard on the Switch regardless of how advanced the system was, the ecosystem just won't be conducive to it.
This is only a loss to the tiny irrelevant subset of enthusiast who really want to play Mario and a sci-fi military shooter on the same console.

I have already bought my switch and of course this is his response.. maybe not PC, but most devs... I imagine feel this way. Maybe they would say - hmm we have not looked into it.. or never say never...but same deal.

Why do a majority of us switch adopters act shocked when people don't take the platform seriously? It is way under powered and that is OK, but we are not getting 1:1 AAA support or multi plats because of it. The standard PS4 and Xbox`1 have issues running today's games at 1080/60...let alone the Switch.

I mean, the Titanfall port on Xbox 360 was really good, so I don't see why TF2 technically couldn't be downscaled to the Switch.

Though I think he was laughing not because the Switch is underpowered as much as he knows EA is no longer going to support the Titanfall franchise.
Yeah. There's nothing particular about TF2 that would make it harder to port than TF1 to 360. TF2 is great with 60fps though.

Infinity Ward/Respawn has always looked down on Nintendo systems since the Wii days (I believe MW and MW3 ports to Wii were done by Treyarch) so not really a surprise.

To answer to all the people who quoted my post : Yeah, my added comment was a bit childish, as it was supposed to be answering to the already childish comment of the developer (which isn't that childish when you watch the video, but I was going by the OP's transcript). I added it to mark my question as why he would talk like that, if he isn't in a good position (since his game bombed, in the charts). I don't think it's really comparable with the hundreds of "lol salty Nintendo fans" comments, but do what you want.

Are you aware of what ad hominem is?

I don't know man, we got a lot of people saying Titanfall 2 wasn't a commercial failure. Logic went out the window.

ITT Nintendo fanboys and Titanfall fanboys use the word "salt" liberally.

This reminded me that I still have to pick up Titanfall 2. I've only heard good things about the game itself.

I love the "Nintendo fans" replies, like, if you're not a Nintendo fan you can't think that this guy had a crappy attitude. I enjoy Titanfall 2 on PC but it doesn't stop me from thinking that a crap attitude is a crap attitude.

Nintendo fans don't understand gettin' tipsy and talkin' freely despite being on camera because they aren't old enough to drink yet.

Eh, dude was drunk & spoke his mind in a pretty casual setting
Bad from a PR point of view, sure. But it just sounds like he's just been disappointed by the Switch so far - like a lot of people seem to be.
If you actually watch the video it's not as bad as it sounds from just reading the OP imo

As for people saying they won't be playing Titanfall because of this, c'mon now - it's not like the game was made by one dude. By all accounts it sounds like a great game, cannot fathom why you'd let a totally unrelated drunken comment from someone you didn't even know existed affect your decision to try it.

I remember when games ran like shit on the PS3 people were pretty defensive of their favorite toy too, Everytime a dev said developing for the cell was a waste of time, it wasn't until the PS4 came out that people stopped being delusional.

Its was time consuming and hard to develop for...it wasn't underpowered. LARGE DIFFERENCE Lmao!!!

The "Nintendo fans" replies just come off as a quick and dirty way to disregard anything that person has to say. Can't say I'm that offended. I think it was unnecessary but it's not like he spreading lies or slander.

Thats the reason why Nintendo consoles will be the primary console for a dwindling few and a second console to some.

They will never recover significant market share based on ehat you state.

Poe's law...?

It's EA. Jack skipped town already and shit is coming in the form of FIFA. Some ambitious multiplatform ports for switch will happen I think. No alternate parallel universe houses an EA that would be among the first to try though.
