Zelda boss spoilers, for those of you on blackout until the release. (Unless they were in the most recent trailer already—I only watched it once and can't remember.)

They've been in trailers before (sand boss in Switch Presentation and giant boss in the original Switch trailer) so it's only really the names that have been spoiled. Unless a boss is called like "Evil Zelda" or something I don't really care for boss names in Zelda, they're rarely that important to the overall plot.

Watch the extended version.

I already did?

Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon didn't save the Wii U. And motion gaming hype isn't how it used to be.

Sorry for being skeptical, I'm sure the Switch will do better than the Wii U. But it needs more to become like a Wii-level success.

YESSS NINTENDO! SLAYYYY! I'm glad they didn't pass up this opportunity especially when the switch launches so near to the superbowl.

Even reading it, it makes my ears bleeeeeed.

OT: These are good commercials though the extended one makes me cringe because of 1,2, switch.

I find Nintendo's "examples" of Switch use ridiculous.

Who's going to do this. Who.

Yup.

Otherwise it was kind of expected and the same commercial as what they did for the reveal so no big surprise here.

Also they should hire someone who knows how to frame pictures, it's hard to Watch sometimes.

They want parents to buy this thing, dude

Of course. But that's also not the early adopter crowd. Especially for a non-holiday release. So they were wise to focus on Zelda and core gamers in the actual ad that will air as that's the early adopter market.

Seems to be on point at explaining everything the Switch can do. Playing the ad at the SB can only be good, too.

Well done Nintendo.

Nothing could save the Wii U, it was a product people didn't want. Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon would have sold tons during the Wii's prime. Wii U could have had anything and it would still be a failure.

Bad bad bad

That's their only Switch add for superbowl ?

Switch adds about how fun it is to play with friends >> GOOD

Switch add about how geeky and obsessed is it to play from waking up to end of the day without ever stopping >> BAAAAD

Of course GAF is reverse world and find the convivial adds horrible and thinks a single person playing zelda all day is a great commercial lol

You got a point there. Still, having the 1 2 switch jerk off games would've been worse.

Not particularly creative or something that's designed to start a conversation like most Super Bowl ads, but it gets the point across and that's what's most important.

DeathoftheEndless

Crashing this plane... with no survivors!
My guess is seeing as how the game doesn't come with the system, probably not many..

I don't think this game is going to sell very well at all. Especially considering how much it costs.

It seems like a game that social media would love, so I think it will be one of their best sellers.

Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon didn't save the Wii U because the Wii U was a marketing, pricing and product failure not seen since the Virtual Boy, not because those series don't sell consoles. Both of those games sold more than most AAA do nowadays, put onto a console people who aren't Nintendo fans want to buy and yes, they're system sellers. There's also the fact that Wii, 7 and DS were all pretty major system sellers for their respective consoles.

But yeah, it likely won't become a Wii-like success I just find that argument a bit tired and well, wrong.

Nice ads. The Zelda and Street Fighter background references are cool. Didn't spot any others yet.

Good to see Nintendo's marketing on point so far with Switch.

I don't understand the issue here? Kids play video games.

Focusing too much in them doesn't help with their "Nintendo is for the kiddies" image among a lot of the gamer market though.

But to be fair those types are never going to buy Nintendo consoles anyway. Nintendo is irrelevant to people satisfied by the types of games and art styles on the other platforms and AAA multiplats. While parents and kids are a huge chunk of their marker so it's smart to appeal to them.

Although the U.K. Commercial was more diverse and was towards an older geographic, but it's nice to be in the Super Bowl commercial

You definitely have a point, but the ad does not focus on children too much IMO. It seemed like a healthy mix of age groups.

They didn't pull the controllers apart. I'm actually concerned that they missed one of their biggest keys to why their system is different than Sony's and Microsoft's. They just showed a generic Pro controller to customers.

Watch the Extended version.

Both ads are great.

But will the extended trailer air ??

The short one is basically missing the whole point.

Also i would add, this is the worst thing you can show to parents, that their kid will play a game all day lol. But that's not the target right now i know.

The bathroom is a few steps outside my room and the wiiu wont reach. I think its the walls.

And lets not even talk about the rest of my house, no way im playing in any other floor/rooms

Yeah I can't use the gamepad outside the room my Wii U is in either. Older house so I guess the walls are too solid.

More I think about it, they are going to show the extended too right?

There was nothing that was going to 'save' Wii U. The fact that both those games sold multiple millions of copies on an embarrassingly low user base is a testament to the quality and reach the games had.

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before but now that we've gotten Super Bowl ads of this, it's absolutely incredible to me that they can advertise this console without using any words. You instantly understand what the deal of it is.

The confidence they have in this console and it's marketing is pretty amazing.
