Character transfer
Due to the new engine Bungie had to make the hard decision of previous Characters being left behind. The upside to this is the new release will have a more customization character creation including facial hair and class themed face paint and tattoos.
So what you are saying is that you're out?
No character transfer? I hope that's bullshit.
But can I change the way my guardian looks after I customize him/her? That's what people cared about when it came to making their own characters.

I wonder if the content exclusivity will be like CoD (PS4, then Xbox/PC later) or more like the deal MS has with Division where the PC is not subject to the exclusivity and gets it day 1.
I'm as hopeful as anyone else but...I'm afraid we're all getting super hyped for this announcement and all we're actually going to get is "on track for a 2017 release".

I am really suprised by how many people in this thread give a shit about something as trivial as the subtitle.I can't let that subtitle slide. Forge of Hope sounds like a Game of War ripoff. Ass. Call it Destiny II, save the corny titles for expacs.
I'm waiting to see if the PVP is completely separated from PVE.
Don't want to see PVE stuff locked behind PVP activities and vice versa. And separate balance also.
Still strange how Destiny 1 skipped PC. Would have been massively popular.

What about the switch

I believe they said that you would carry your character over in their 10 year plan, although like a lot of what they said about the game, a lot has changed. Why are people surprised about this? I've put hundreds of hours into Destiny but I don't want to keep my old character throughout the whole thing. I want a fresh start.
NMS and Destiny are quite far removed, but it's still the closest disappointment i can think of. The design of the game was just weak to me. Bullet sponges everywhere, ridiculous RNG, lazy campaign, all of the narrative is on a website datalog, ect ect. But it's coming from a company that i would never expect to have such pitfalls, judging from their previous FPS games until that point.
Con is strong word, but i guess i was just expecting something a bit more from Bungie.
I think where I really got pissed off at Destiny and just knew i'd never play again is when they started nerfing PvE weapons for the sake of them being broken in PVP. Like, why...how is this required? Final Fantasy XIV is a PvE centric game and even they manage to give PVP-specific abilities and skill rebalances during PvP modes, and that's a game with like 12 unique classes with dozens of skills. But Bungie earned their stripes off competitive PvP experiences, so i don't see how this distinction could have been overlooked.
The experience just felt like Bungie had never even looked at a modern MMO before. Hopefully Destiny II will remedy some of this though. The premise of the game was interesting and the gunplay was spot-on.
Agreed. If they separate the PVE and PVP balance/weapons it will go a long way towards fixing a lot of my problems with the current game.

It's a marketing tactic to ensure to consumers that it's part of the same universe. The only thing that's suspicious about this is that they'd subtitle the base game. They didn't do that for Destiny 1 - subtitles are for expansions.
Releases in Q4 2017 and the FIRST expansion will be in Q3 2018? Wtf?

I'm fine with no direct character transfer but what you did in destiny 1 needs to matter in some direct way. Maybe weapons carry over, stuff that is being recreated in the new engine.
Right, I can't believe Nintendo made a tablet console weaker than the Wii U, PS3, and 360LOL I'm not sure the Switch could even run the original Destiny let alone Destiny II
