Thanks for your efforts, HipHopTheRobot! I like how the interface is clean and snappy. Don't so much like that certain features I was hoping for (achievements) are not present.

We know the Switch supports a Web Applet for web integration in games and apps. The eShop is also likely to have a search history and store passwords, if it uses the Web Applet as well, cookies too.

None of that means that Nintendo has accounted for a Web Applet for general use of logging in to Wifi spots that require sign in that way. This is the question that needs to be answered, it's not a matter of the tech existing or not.

This reminds me of the time Wipeout's web applet was hacked to a psp web browser

That last line sounds like very good news.

Yup good catch. Together with the dev documents leak that basically confirms that you can transfer any purchase to another device with no hassle.

hiphoptherobot can you post pics of all the available user icons if you don’t mind? Would be great to see all options. Also any indication of buying more icons or themes from the eShop? Maybe something in the manual? Also look in the manual for any day one update details of an Activity Log. I know its not happening at this point but still. .:(

If you can check these things that'd be great, but if not don't worry anout it. I bet your being asked a million questions already XD.

When we're at the point of buying icons... Jesus Christ

Huh? That's been a thing since the 360/PS3. The icons in question are in reference to the user's account...and avatars for 99 cents or whatever is nothing new on PSN for example.

I don't see any indication of a web applet but I will take pics of the connection options when I get home.

Are there any public wifi signals near your house? Like for guests or cable routers or what have you?

Holy shit, really? I'm Nintendo consoles-only

Charging for avatars. I get themes, but avatars?

Thanks so much for all the amazing info! Has it been confirmed the system will support all bluetooth headsets? Looking to buy a new pair just for the system so I can play in bed.

What they're asking for would only present itself if you connect to a network with a captive portal. There's probably an option on your router if you have a newish one with a guest network.

"Initialize Console" sounds so awesome. (It's interesting to see it referred to strictly as a "console" throughout the UI.)

The WiiU was the same. Your eshop wallet also syncs between 3DS and WiiU. Been that way for years now.

Yeah, but that was just that. Your eShop balance. The image above says you can redownload any software or DLC you bought on that account, finally turning it all into a proper online account system.

Every single thing about this system looks completely uninspiring to me. The giant black borders around the screen remind me of the first generation iPad. I feel like the controllers look annoying and uncomfortable. The battery for portable mode is ridiculous. Zelda is the only game I'm interested in, and even then only mildly.

I fear that Zelda will be like Far Cry 4 meets Skyrim, which is a very good thing, but I've had those experiences before. Assuming I'm wrong, and it's a literally 10/10 modern classic, I still don't want to pay $360 + tax for a system that doesn't appeal to me for one game. I have a very bitter taste is my mouth from multiple generations of crappy Nintendo hardware with terrible U.I.

It just seems like this version of the Switch is a beta test for early adopters. The online is still a mystery and what we do know is not good. It's launching barren and featureless. I also feel like we'll see a Swtich XL with a better screen next year, and maybe with a pack-in game or lower price. So for me personally, I'm waiting it out this time.

ok

I was able to re download everything I'd purchased on the 3DS eshop when I swapped for the new 3DS. It's been there, but given this notion I see how many people have actually needed to try and use it.

hiphoptherobot, you've done the world a solid today. Thank you!

If you're taking requests, I would love to know how much the box and its contents weigh in total. If you don't have a scale to measure it or don't want to bother, the weight might be included on the shipping label of the box in it came in, or on the tracking details page on the company website that delivered it.

I ask because I use mail forwarders to receive international orders and they charge me by weight, also the weight plays a role in calculating import tax fees once it's arrives in my country. Being able to calculate/estimate those costs beforehand is very helpful to people in my situation.

Product Dimensions 13.8 x 3.7 x 7.9 inches; 3.8 pounds

Amazon.

Gonna ask this since it might be answered now that things have died down a bit- hiphoptherobot, are you able to change the region without any problems? Or does it warn you about things if you try to do it?

I guess we won't know for sure how well it works till the eShop's up, but if it really has no issue with letting you swap regions, that's a good sign.

Lttp but props to hiphoptherobot for the opportunity of seeing a retail Switch in action for the first time.

I like what I'm seeing on the UI and the options so far. Really looking forward for more info.

Unrelated related question about the Switch? (If hiphop can actually answer the question, I'll be grateful)...

How much weights the whole package?... It's a nice info that I need for shipping reasons. Temped to buy a switch in a few months via import (Amazon), here the local store prices are a fucking joke (about USD $600)...

Both 3DS and Wii U already supported this.
No, they don't. My campus WiFi needs both a password and a username, and my 3DS can't connect. I had to have someone come by and connect it to a network specifically for devices that can't connect to the normal network, because they don't want people knowing the password.

The worst part about Other M being the last major Metroid game released in the last six or so years is the fact that we always have to be looking at Samus' dinky armor from that game whenever Nintendo designs to actually reference the series again.

Fuck that, give me back her Super Metroid/Zero Mission design. Put some muscle back into it.

Or, alternatively, the Prime design.

Seriously. Give me back tall Samus with the huge shoulder ball things.

Where are you from? If you buy through Amazon Global the weight of the package doesn't matter that much.

Amazon is charging me 28 euros for shipping from Germany to Uruguay.

EDIT: I see that you are from Colombia. Here in Uruguay the Switch will probably cost around USD 600 too, I preordered mine from Amazon Germany for 390 euros, around 415 dollars.

That last line sounds like very good news.

Anyone who thought otherwise, after the extensive purchase history logs on Mynintendo when you link your account was just kidding themselves. I had to finagle the website to find it back then, but it was exhaustive.

Wow, I'm jealous that your campus even has that. I'm already resigned to the fact that I'm gonna have to pay the $20 fee for another wired connection in order to go online on it.
