Breath of the Wild Amiibo unlocks revealed

Perhaps it's a metaphor. Kimishima is smug, unwavering in the face of constant hostility and hardship, aka KNIVES. Such is the mighty and majestic horse, unwavering in its stride, not caring if harm comes its way even though they can actually die now.

You're too proud old horse! TOO PROUD! One day you'll day, and I'll have to live without you!
YOU'RE TOO PROUD MR. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!

I got the Link archer and Zelda amiibos, 'cause those are the ones I thought were the coolest. I don't really want the enemy ones. I hope these items are not exclusive to the amiibo, that's the arrow from the E3 2014 trailer.

Is this true? I thought I read in some interview that there wouldn't be any other pets / companions.

There aren't any companions like Fi or Midna who accompany you at all times. But there's a bonding mechanic with Dogs and well, Chekov's gun does usually apply to Nintendo.

It's not. They aren't exclusiv-Can we edit the OP? People aren't getting this.

During the treehouse stream, nate dropped an apple for the horse to eat, but the dog ate it before and he started following link, then aonuma explained that animals can follow you and get affinity with you by doing things likke this.

Kinda sucks how Zelda and Bow Link just give you one item as opposed to the others.

Nintendo: We want Skyrim on Switch.

Bethesda: You need to do something to sweeten the deal.

Nintendo: We're doing horse armour.

Bethesda: Where do we sign?

100% true story of how Nintendo secured Bethesda support.

I mean, I've zelda, guardian and arrow link pre-ordered because I find them to look good.
the items...I'll probably only use them once..

All the Amiibo unlocks should be great for the hard mode coming in the summer.

Is anybody going to wait to play the game until they have all the Amiibo?

I want to be able to max heart Wolf Link so he doesn't die easily since he's once a day. Which means I have to play Twilight Princess HD and be able to comfortably save a large amount of hearts to Wolf Link. But I will only do it after I do play the order of Ocarina 3D Master Quest, Majora's Mask 3D and then Wind Waker.

So yeah. I may not get to BOTW for a while.

Hmm... I recall an Aonuma interview where he said this, let me double check.

Found this article

It's called Breath of the Wild.

Why wouldn't there be?

During the treehouse stream, nate dropped an apple for the horse to eat, but the dog ate it before and he started following link, then aonuma explained that animals can follow you and get affinity with you by doing things likke this.

Wow, active thread. Thanks for the responses. I was definitely misinterpreting the interview saying there are no companions (Fi/Navi) but that Wolf Link could be used as such if the player really wanted.

I wonder if you will be able to find TP Wolf somewhere in the game as well?

We already know that Wolf Link works more or less identically to other companions in the game, so it's mostly cosmetic (on top of him carrying his hearts over from the cave of ordeals).

Now that we know what they do, I have to decide if I want to cancel my pre-order or not. I wish the Guardian were smaller.

I was getting them anyway, but still wont use them in game. Getting them because they look awesome.

So only the Zelda series' Smash amiibo are the ones we don't know anything about now.

They do the same thing the other links and zeldas do:
Tetra zelda is the same as zelda smash
Toon link is toon link
smash link will be the same as ocarina link
etc

I'll be going with the Guardian and probably rider Link. These are some of of the best Amiibo's yet. The Guardian's arms are fully moveable. Really great designs.

The bonuses in BoTW are pretty superfluous, I bet most of that can be obtained in-game and will probably throw some of the balance off early on. We have a screenshot implying you can get a dog companion that will basically double as a wolf link too.

If this is already in-game stuff, I see no reason to be upset. They're only convenience items at that point, no different than how TP HD handled amiibo.

Hopefully these aren't impossible to get months from now as I'd like to have each of the BOTW Amiibo's.

I already have the 8-bit Link & Wolf Link.

Curious what is inside those 8 random barrels for 8-bit Link.

Oh, a couple more questions....

Is there a way to get an amiibo to read without opening the box?

If your Wolf Link in TPHD never beat the cave of Shadows will you still be able to use the amiibo to summon him as a partner?

That just leaves Sheik and Ganondorf then

I'm going to say probably nothing and nothing.

Or at most shiek=zelda and ganondorf=guardian

I would assume he would just have 3 hearts.

Of course. You don't even need to own TPHD.

Although the amiibo themselves obviously look cool, I have to say I'm a little disappointed in what we're getting for using them, especially when you consider how much we're spending on them. I thought by now Nintendo might have figured out a way to make them more worth while to use in game rather than just a few extra weapons.

So far I think it's only the Splatoon amiibo I've been genuinely impressed by in regards to how much stuff you got for owning it. (all the single player mission challenges)

Really disappointed in amiibos overall. Pretty cool figures but tying actual content to them is just... ugh. Should be cosmetic at most. Something like having a shield or tunic themed after the character. Like you can dress in a red mario inspired outfit if you scan a mario amiibo.

Nintendo can't make them more worth while without pissing people off. You bring up the splatoon amiibo but a lot if people where upset that if you wanted more single player content you had to spend $30 to get more.
