I know this might come off as salty but honestly Idk if Jez has any actual insiders or if people at MS just use him as a controlled leak. Notice how he got NPD numbers twice when it was close then nothing when the gaps were bigger? Plus Aaron retweeted those articles almost instantly

He was also the one that was told Scalebound was officially cancelled aswell. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but that's what I think. His "leaks" always play it too safe IMO

Honestly I hoped for some hw news.

But still I think some of the reactions here were really out of proportion.

Edit:
UHD BluRay Player confirmed. At least one hw info.

The most out of proportion thing imo is that people have been hanging on this supposed info for what like a week? And got themselves so convinced it was some kind of bombshell coming.

Jez is like your typical lazy high school student who hands in an essay days late and when you read it you wonder if he just started the essay that morning.

so scorpio will have/use
- SM6
-True 4k assets
-Supersampling "technology" (don't know if its a MS specific SS)
-1080p improved shadows
-4K blu-ray confirmed
-HDMI 2.0A not 2.1
-wide colour gamut HDR
-Sizeable amount of launch first and third party native 4k games

Very much overhyped

Exactly what Phil has been saying since last E3, only now with confirmation of a 4K Blu Ray player as if there was any doubt. What I would like to know is, are MS' own developers going to offer options in their games or will they all be Native 4K and that's it? I would like an option to have better visual fidelity and at 1080p too. But so far MS has kept saying their own games will be True 4K. Why True 4K and not just call it Native 4K?

What does this mean?

4k assets would be a high resolution texture pack for a game. Scorpio is capable of doing it because of the increase in Ram. A native 4k game with 4k assets would see a notable improvement in detail rather than 1080p assets render in 4k like Pro.

Pretty sure he confirmed that last year.

Uncompressed pixels.

it's a monster

Joking aside I would wager it's 4K textures on top of being native 4K thanks to the 12gb ram like I said before.

But if a game is native 4K isn't everything 4K already? Probably a noob question, but hey. And so if someone has a 1080p set, they will of course not get a game in 4K but still get all the visual enhancements people with a 4K set also have? Because that sounds like good stuff to me.

Haha fantastic gif.

Never expected him to have juicy info. Good to get confirmation on UHD drive though.

This has been a well kept secret. I'm impressed MS. We need fucking Magic Kaito to steal this info.

The editor in chief of Windows central just told me he has the launch lineup list. I asked him if he's gonna share and he didn't respond. Does anyone know the password to his laptop? (Kidding). (Kind of).

So that is what Jez was on about, the whole 4k native ultra games on scorpio.

Already getting a negative reputation and the lad is only starting out really.

I don't think he's a bad guy by any means, in fact I think he's alright but this sort of stuff will do you no favours pal the more you do it.

If you do have something genuinely exclusive or big in future, don't drag it along, don't milk the attention and keep the "hype" to a minimum and then you will pleasantly surprise people which is a good thing. Just my advice/opinion for what's it worth.

To be honest, the dynamic of the back and forth in this thread about anything Scorpio related is at a pace that can't be controlled at all and can't be predicted.

Phil said multiple times that everything is up to the developers.

As long as the game runs on a standard Xbox One, they could target 720p for Scorpio.

He's probably been begging MS all week to confirm the UHD drive, just so he can officially write it and make it look like he delivered on something. That's why this article took so long.

My guess is with GDC happening he expected some decent news to hit and wanted to appear like someone in the know, like all the other muppets do. No actual info arrived from anyone so he had to scramble this together lol.

2.0a is fine.. I didn't want to have to buy a new tv anyway :)

Man, Twitter is just a dumpster fire all around. It's fun for a few things.. but the people who take stuff too far (for any and all topics) is just out of control.

I just think being a bit more aware of your audience not just GAF but particularly the platform he covers, is something he should take on board.

Anyone can tease with breadcrumbs, it comes back to them, the ones who don't see it as personal attention gaining are the better writers.

What is SM6?

Why is overhyped, does anything in that last sound bad?

What about hdmi audio out?

I think partially due to people hyping themselves up, he even said a few times that it's nothing that big.

Time + Silence = HYYYYYYPE for the thirsty.

Nothing in that post sounded bad.

Im quite happy with Wide Color Gamut inclusion. I just need some hdmi audio out.
