Looking to buy this game when it goes live. Videos of it really sell the game to me and my wife is interested in checking it out, too. Game looks pretty smooth for the NS in the recent videos.

The nintendolife video looks more vivid than this, check it out. Might be the way this was captured

OK, I checked the NintendoLife video and it's just crushed blacks, nothing near the vividness of the IGN video.
Weird, super weird.

I played the first two realms and sice embargo is up, here are some quick impressions.

-Narrative is pretty basic and clearly just a thrown up thing to be a set for the stages
-Controls are on that ''easy to pickup but hard to master'' line
-The first world is pretty basic, almost no challenge except for a few optional collectibles
-The second world is way more challenging and varied in design. I took me a while to get a hang of some of the obstacles and some puzzles there and the optional collectibles are also way more harder to get here.
-The soundtrack is great

Sounds awesome.

The Switch version on display here really looks washed out, in comparison to the version (Xbox or PC) shown in the IGN video.
The colors are lot less vivid, weird.

A few screenshots taken via the Switch capture button:

Shared via Twitter, so no doubt compressed to hell.

It didn't feel washed out to me when I was playing - but I haven't played the other versions.

Thanks!
Doesn't look bad here.

I think it's temporal 1080p on Switch, like Fast Racing Neo did on Wii U to reach 720p.

I don't usually comment on review quality/content, but that Proven Gamer review is a fucking mess. It starts off with a statement indicating disinterest and a lack of awareness, goes on to copy press materials instead of summarizing it themselves, and provides a piss-poor critique of the actual gameplay with complaints that say more about the reviewer than the game itself. To top it off, he insulted the creator of the game itself in their conclusion.

The blatant spelling and grammar mistakes are juxtaposed wonderfully by a style of writing lacking any clarity or cohesion, not unlike a journal you might have kept as a child in elementary school, but that's not an issue for some small site reviewing games out of passion--even though you'd assume those types of folks would want to pour their heart into it-- but the critique itself is simply absurd.

I have no interest in supporting Snake Pass outside of buying it on Switch or PS4 pending more hands-on opinions here, and the scores it receives won't affect my enjoyment; I just found myself aggravated at the end of that barely legible garbage. It screams of the type of site people set up to coerce review codes out of publishers, but I don't know. I wasn't aware of that site before, and I'll be sure to avoid it in the future.

Not sure whether to go PC or Switch. I'd like to easily pick up and play the game and carry it anywhere with Switch but 300 FPS really dampens my excitement.

I caved and got it for my PS4 Pro. But I still may get the Switch for my kid... but was someone joking about the menu option for 1080p 60 for Pro? or is that by default if I don't have a 4k screen?

Someone else has linked my Snake Pass review for Pause Resume but really enjoyed it. Felt it was something a bit different :)

For what it's worth, I felt like switching to 60fps mode on PS4 Pro once it was pointed out to me in this thread was transformative.

Slow-paced, yes, but I felt like the game really benefitted from the higher framerate and it significantly increased my enjoyment of the slinking around and climbing.

Gonna wait on some comparisons before I decide. I want to support Switch indies, but my 4K OLED craves that sweet, sweet HDR. If Switch is comparable visually, I'll go that route.

This is why I need a web browser on the Switch. I want to upload directly to imgur if possible the way I could on the Wii U. Twitter images do not do games justice.

Reviews are trickling out slowly?

http://press-start.com.au/reviews/2017/03/29/snake-pass-review-hissing-good-fun/

Snake Pass is a delicious combination of interesting concept, a solid execution but with room for future potential. A platformer without a jump button sounds absurd, but Snake Pass uses a kooky physics engine and great level design to make it feel as natural as ever. Though sometimes frustrating, Snake Pass is charming and simple, a different experience, even if it feels like it's over a little bit too quickly

PocketGamer also talked about the Switch version, which sounds a bit strange especially with the HD Rumble.

You do get the feeling that Snake Pass needs a little more time in the oven though. Technical issues mar the experience slightly. HD rumble might decide to go insane for no apparent reason, and I suspect that it's being upscaled from a fairly low resolution on the Switch.

Since embargo's up and I'm on level 11/15 I'll throw up some quick bullet points before cracking on with the actual review.

- Soundtrack's great; each themed world has its own song and they're all incredibly catchy.

- Gameplay is, as mentioned, easy to pick up/hard to master; utilizing the grip and L3 head movement is crucial to negotiating some of the tougher obstacles (gold coins, usually), as is taking your time.

- Camera's a little bit of a nuisance in certain areas.

- Difficulty does certainly ramp up after the first area but it's not always a upward curve -- some are harder than others. Especially gold coin placement.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
I'm wondering if the patch did something wonky to the game, especially if it fixed the gpu issue

It's a slow-slithering game so it may be a-ok at 30. My only q is if the time trials are in or if not if they'll be added.
