Zelda BOTW Patch 1.1.2 released

How did you reach the Zora Doman while completely ignoring the entire town of Kakariko Village telling you to visit the village's Great Fairy?
I watched a particular streamer just traverse in a straight line to Kakariko, meaning she climbed over the path that'd take you there and completely skipped Hestu, the shrines, and the stable. She only spoke to villagers necessary to meet Impa. She didn't unlock any secondary quests nor the Kakariko shrine and bolted off to Hateno.

Fucking blew my mind.

I completed all of the Ruta Divine Beast before I visited my first Hylian village (which wasn't Kakariko). And even after I mapped Kakariko and Hateno, I didn't find the Fairy Fountain (or its quest) until sometime later. When something else catches your eye, it's easy to wander far away from what you are "supposed" to be doing.

Remember, this is a game that can be completed in any order or sequence. No two paths are identical.

For those looking for arrows I actually found a way to get a decent amount of arrows fairly quickly very MINOR spoiler.

On the climb up the mountain to zoras domain you can combat a ton of lizard men and they all drop 5 arrows a piece or more, I always came away from this with a bunch of arrows. It's also a great fishing spot.

Save my life :p

Did they decrease the draw distance of AI? I feel like animals and enemies disappear really fast. Happens right in front of me all the time and I can't remember if it was like that pre 1.1.2

No, they didn't. That's nocebo effect. It was always like that.

You've directly compared the two versions to be able to make that claim? All I know is that I didn't react to this aspect before this patch.

The burden of proof is on you, not him.

Plenty of people claimed the previous patch reduced draw distance and visual details and Digital Foundry found that was not the case at all.

Why? Because I asked if he had anything to back the claim up with? Only wanted to know how he knows they haven't changed the draw distance.

The previous patch isn't relevant though. Just because they didn't change things that some said they did before doesn't mean they haven't at this point. Unless someone proves me wrong that is.

animals have always disappeared when they run away.

Ok. Enemies though? Have they always been visible only at what seems to be about ~30m in-game? Could have sworn I could watch them from really afar using the binos in the first patch that was released.

No one needs to prove you wrong. That's not how this works. If you're claiming this patch decreases draw distance, show us. I'm not even saying you're wrong . Maybe you're completely right It's not like patches haven't done this before, so it's completely possible that has happened here. So show us.

As for animals disappearing in front of you after they've spotted you and escaped, that's nothing new. I haven't even booted the game up since the latest patch dropped, so I'm basing this entirely on the previous versions.

I can't get the 30 minute triple speed potions any more, even using the same recipe. monster extract, 3 frogs, and a keese eye ball.

So despite the patches I did have the blood moon glitch again yesterday. First time since the first patch. Still a drastic improvement.

As far as draw distance goes I did notice one area that the draw distance on enemies was really poor but I didn't experience that area pre-patch and don't know if it's specific to that area or not (probably can't even tell you where it was now).

It was a poison bog with one of the giant skull camps in it. Enemies wouldn't spawn until I was close enough where stealth shooting them with the bow wasn't an option. They'd see me instantly but I could take a step backwards and they would despawn and reset.

One thing that actually is more pleasant is that the game now skips unnecessary animations when getting several hearts/stamina containers in a row. Might be the same for other upgrades not sure.

Sorry if that's already common knowledge, was a nice surprise for me.

Always was like that. After I upgraded .y stamina all the way I would put off heart upgrades. All of this before the first patch.

I haven't seen what it's like post-patch, but the game always skipped the "descending from the sky" animation for Heart Containers/Stamina Vessels after the first.

monster extract randomizes the duration bw 1 5 10 and 30 mins.
The same recipe can give varying effect durations even without monster extract... basically you'll occasionally get a "critical hit" on a cooked meal and it will be signified by a different musical note, and it will have a longer lasting effect than normal.

Or so I read :p

Lol you have to prove your claim first dude.

Is there a video of the infinite arrow glitch before and after the patch? Some people said that the ~20 arrows limit was always there.

i need to farm some stars before i update
Stand on the tallest twin peak, at night, look at some grass area near hyrule castle and a star fragment will fall in that location 90% of the time
I need some star fragments now. Did they really patch this? Dammit!

1.1.2 isn't pleasant :(

Is there any way to stop automatic title updates? I think my game updated because when I press the Home button and return to the game, the console tells me there is an update and asks me if I want to continue playing or restart the title. It's pretty annoying. I think the console downloaded the updated, even though I'm still on 1.1.1 and I did cancel the download the last time I noticed it. I've used sleep mode only and haven't closed/restarted the game yet.

Get Inside Her!
Just farm silver lynels for star fragments. There are three at the top of the map, and another two east of the desert. Assuming all your enemies have leveled up enough.

What's the blood moon glitch?

Korok forest a LOT smoother. Did they remove some fog, or did I just catch it in a clear moment. Some stutter at the main platform, but solid elsewhere.

I just got to Zora's Domain for the first time after 55 hours and defeated my first Divine Beast. It was funny with characters telling me things like "You need to go get 20 shock arrows... Oh you already have them, ok then move along", or various NPCs asking me to do a quest for them only for me to get the quest complete prompt as I finish my next conversation immediately afterwards.

Really didn't like all the forced conversations and cutscenes in this part of the game. Forced stories are one of the big reasons I stopped playing games for a long time, and I was thrilled when there was very little of that in my first 50+ hours of the game... I thought the developers had completely fixed my gripe with unskippable dialogue and cutscenes in this game, but alas turns out that's not the case.

Also the voice acting stinks.

Still the best game I've played though :p

easily my least favorite of the divine beasts to be honest

I was tripping on acid when I fought him so I thought it was fun, lol. Now more than 80 hours in and haven't tackled another divine beast yet. What a massive game.

Re: my earlier comment about Lynel's kicking my ass. I went back same day and kicked his ass (died many times in the process, and had to use defense elixirs), then just as I defeated him a blood moon started rising! My first reaction was "I better get out of dodge real quick", but then I decided to take him on again (for the challenge, and the loot) so I turned back and kicked his ass a second time.

Gosh I love this game.

The arrow glitch on
even tide island
is still working for me, is it really not working for anyone else, just got 600 base grade arrows last night, or am I doing the wrong thing haha.

I hate that this took away the infinite arrows trick :(

You mean looking straight up into the sky and not getting hit by arrows? Or you can't collect arrows being shot at you after you have a certain number lower than 999? What is the trick?

Still there but you have to do it differently. It takes around 15 minutes to do instead of 10 :)

What exactly is the trick?
Will someone please answer this blasted question? What is the infinite arrow glitch then and now?

Edit:

I have heard about this one. Parking the raft near the underwater chest, collecting the goods, then saving and loading the save...
Rinse and repeat. Is there another one?

All I do is teleport back to the shrine above the island and swoop back on down. Monotonous, but you get 10 arrows about every 30 seconds or so.

What's with the really dumb enemy AI in this game some/many times? Today I was showing the game to my friend and I came about a Lizalfos swimming in water. I made an ice pillar to glide down on to get closer, and I proceeded to hit the lizalfos with one arrow after another right smack in the face with him literally doing nothing the entire time until he died. He didn't move, he didn't see me, he didn't try to attack, and I was taking my time lining up headshots... I didn't think much of it because I've seen similar behavior from other enemies before, where if I'm standing too far away for them to see me they sometimes don't react to my arrow hits at all (and I kinda welcome it when it happens cause it makes my life easier)... But to my friend who doesn't play the game this looked jarring, and he brought my attention to how dumb it is.

Can also be done with remote bombs where you keep blowing the same enemy with one bomb after another at the same exact spot and they keep coming back to it.

I know this probably belongs in the OT, but I'm avoiding that thread until I finish the game :p
