Jefferies Equity Analyst: Mario Kart 8D a "mega-hit on a different scale altogether"

If there is one thing history has taught me, it's never bet against Mario Kart. How many copies will this ultimately sell on Switch? 20 million?

Maybe he just remastered his opinion

Both games made for the previous console. They don't deserve success, they deserve to to fail for the lack of SW and charging for the same games over and over.

Yet you have an avatar of X23 so that made your post even more hilarious. In sense, X23 is a port of Wolverine.

Mario Kart is a good game that sells well and Switch is actually a Nintendo console that sells. So this makes sense.

So help me to understand this, barring the fact there every new generation starts off with a lot of cross gen releases:

Ok people all bought the Switch for no reason. Since they bought a system with no games for it, they said let's all buy Zelda.

7 weeks later, when there are about 40 combined retail and eshop titles available, Mario Kart 8 deluxe comes out. People decide since they got a switch with no games, they feel obligated to buy mario kart because they don't want their system to be a paper weight. Not because they had previous knowledge this game was coming out on this day back in jan/feb and could quite possible be looking forward to it?

If anything wouldn't both these games and the console sell less since they are readily available on the WiiU. Or are we saying that people just waste money on games because reasons.

What's a Wii U? Is that the tablet accessory to the Wii?

Breath of the Wild was a driving force behind those sales. I'm speaking as a Switch owner, that the game drought makes Mario Kart 8 a must buy.

I wonder if it would have sold as well in an environment with competing AAA third-party games. It doesn't really have competition.

There's a drought? Hell, between Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, PuyoPuyo Tetris, Bomberman, and Snipperclips, I've got a backlog on my Switch at this point.

You can search within a user's post history. Search by user name on the right, use port as keyword, show results as posts, done

I thought he might have went through post by post using ctrl+f till he hit anything that resembles this argument. Didn't know the sites search feature lets you find specific words like that, thanks.

I certainly bought it. The lack of options kinda bummed me out, but it's as fun as I remembered with friends.
Blue shell needs to die.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
You know Playstation fans are getting upset and insecure over Nintendo success when you have those nonsensical and hypocritical posts

It's perhaps the second meaningful release on a console that's starved for games - I don't think its success is all that surprising with that context.
I think it's surprising for a couple of reasons. One, the game had already been released on the WiiU, and it would be fair to speculate that a good portion of the population that bought the switch were people who are Nintendo fans and who likely also had the WiiU.

Second, the positive initial performance of the switch was not a definitive indicator that MK8 would do well on it to the scale we are seeing here. The positive initial performance of the switch could, in theory, have been due to the impressive nature of breath of the wild, similar to how the Nintendo 64 initially sold well in Japan, but also achieved poorer sales for other major releases because people really bought it for super Mario 64.

So I think it certainly is a nice surprise to see this level of success for the game, and it bodes well for the overall success of the system

Lol. Man, has any other poster got this burned on Neogaf in recent history?
Yeah, in the rumored dark souls trilogy possibly coming to switch thread. A poster was ridiculing, saying he didn't help but laugh at people for being excited fur a possible 5 year old Port/remaster. He was then quoted from a previous post saying he's happily pay full price for a ff12 remake in what would have been five years after it's release. I'll try to find it.

Edit: found it!

Blue shell balances the game.

Bullshit. Video contradicts itself: it's to stop players from being too far ahead of everyone, but it has a blast radius to fuck over two players that are neck and neck battling it out for first. It's there so you have interactions between players, but it becomes available even if first is being heavily contested. And it's not an item that helps that last player catch up. It just makes him a spoiler for the people in the lead of the pack. Better catch-up item for those way behind is lightning or the star. Oh, and the items to counter it are rarely given to you in first place. All you're likely to get is a coin or a banana peel. Blue shell is a shit item.

The only reason it should appear (to argue the point of the video) is if the player in first is way ahead. Other than that, it's horse shit. And since it does appear no matter how big your lead, it's bullshit.

Isnt that bannable?! Seriously?!
Someone offended me with terrible irony. I said sometruth without swearing and was banned because I told the guy to get a life and a job.

Now this guy is trolling because of console wars and thats fine?! Get a job a buy all the consoles for god's sake.

I'm cool with Blue Shell.

It's the squid that sucks.

It's literally fun for nobody. Not the person using it and certainly not the people getting hit with ink.

Obscuring or obfuscating your screen is the height of lazy game design. Nintendog in Smash Bros and the final level of Rayman Legends being other notorious examples.

Though at least the Nintendog is pretty hilarious.
