Sonic Mania does alot more of the same old than I thought it would.
I really wanted to call it "the real Sonic 4" but it's just as much as a nostalgia machine as Generations / Forces is.
Sonic Advance is going to stay Sonic 4 for me

The only good ones are the bunny, bird and maybe bear?
The rest are useless.
Bunny will let you damage boost through stuff more, Bird will let you straight up bypass things, and bear will most likely clear paths better

Most sonic games are going to have to be this now. If this things is good, every sonic game that comes out that isn't a spin off will come with the question when is the new sonic forces because kids will want a xenoverse 2.
I hope this doesn't restrict what they can and can't make in future.

From the trailer it looks like
Classic Sonic -> 2D platforming gameplay
Modern Sonic -> Adventure styled Sonic speed levels
Fursona -> 3D platforming levels reminicent of crash/SM 3D world

What trailer did you watch? The Fursona gameplay is them running around with a flamethrower slowly killing enemies in 3D and then infinite jumping in 2D and using a grappling hook to swing around. Nothing about any of it resembled Crash or 3D World. The thing it most looked like was Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Boom.
Then we get Shadow Forces.

I lol'd so hard because my first thought was "who wants this?" but at the same time, I know that there are plenty of Sonic fans that want this for real.

You can play as everyone even sonic, but isn't integral to the plot, and your character is.

Somehow the sheer audacity of this has been enough to make me consider buying the game soon after release instead of waiting for a sale. I want to make my dumb quasi-ironic OC while it's hot to do so.
