Sony lists E3 games, explains God of War changes due to Europe

hopefully Capcom picks up the slack and makes a new Devil May Cry game soon.

it really sucks that hack n slash is dying. now everything from Japan is "souls-like" and western developers are more focused on narrative driven experiences, which is fine but somebody needs to give us combos on combos.

Are we to believe this? Didn't Cory say he only came back for God of War because he wanted to do something different with it? And now it's for us Euro gamers? Gimme a break.
Sony still has to gauge if it's viable and greenlight the new direction. Both reason can be true.

But I guess Barlog's standards for fast-paced satisfying combat differs from mine.

I much prefer DmC to God of War 4 (or indeed any God of War), but I agree about the latter series becoming stale.

I agree there, aside from Vergil's baller outfit.
We seen like 2 fights in a small area with one weapon :/

Hack and slash games tend to not do so well in Europe
Europe is to blame for the death of hack n' slashers?

THANKS A LOT EUROGAF.
Oh, I thought this was known.

Things like Devil May Cry also don't do so hot there.

Heh, I always thought GoW did well in both US and EU. I'm European and I bought and played every GoW game there is, fwiw. I also love DMC, NG and most character action games under the sun, so I'm doing my part. That being said, the series needed a different direction anyhow and I'll take anything that's a departure from the known formula because that was getting a bit stale in the end.

There is no GoW 4. Unless you mean Ascension. But that's not 4.

As a european (for now at least) i'm quite honored to be the reason sony saw fit to rejuvenate a tired formula and create something new for the IP.

Roll on a bigger, better, fresher GOW!

I can't help but feel certain members are deliberately working themselves up when they both misattribute a line (with factual inaccuracies) written by John Davison and ignore the word "more" put directly before "narrative-focused"- there's a difference with and without.

um...I want to know why they dumped Carson. That's the only gow change I care about
They probably need a younger, more capable actor for a modern full-body character performance.

So it's not God of War then. The music is worse and from the looks of it it's a different style of game than the fans will want. I'm skeptical. I need to see some action and combo meter and less of that useless kid. His better not be some Halo 5 shit where they say one thing and it ends up being something different.

Spider Man and Days Gone

Hell yeah, these are the games that are on top of my anticipation list for E3, along with Mario for Switch. Days Gone didn't light the Internet on fire but it looks like a ton of fun to me and I can't wait to see more of it.

this doesn't make any sense

-while the new voice actor is 6 years younger than Carson, they're both in their 50s
-Kratos was already getting mocapped by different actors while still voiced by Carson when he was in the job
-Carson's portrayal is arguably quite iconic, his voice is just...Kratos.

so yeah. I would like a real, honest explanation from santa monica/sony

I might be the only one but man I loved the hack and slash god of war what the hell this sucks. I love the last of us love, loved uncharted but every game doesn't need to be that type of game. hopefully it's exceptional in that field

Combat is my only concern. We really don't have games like classic GOW anymore. I hope DMC makes a comeback too.

The series needed a change. I'm sure this was one of the reasons, but it wasn't the only one. The series ran its course with what it was doing.

I'm interested in seeing combat improvements because that's the only part i'm a little concerned with. Cory made the best GoW though so i'm thinking it'll be good.

All expected games but it's cool to get a confirmation, c'mon Spiderman!

Btw why Sony is sharing so much data (about sales and such) and information today (including some arrogant statements :p)?

Who Knows.

Because they are announcing the PS5 at E3 with a late 2018/Q1 2019 release date. (Ok Probably Not ;)

We love Singstar as much as Americans love Just Dance, i.e. casuals do.

Honestly loved the first God of War and also Devil May Cry. I do like the different approach here though.

Does this person know how big and diverse Europe is?

I don't care at all about this narrative-driven, cinematic, gritty, "mature", open world, druckmannish bs and I would much rather have the classic hack n' slash videogame in not-so serious, over the top Greek mythology than what appears to be a downgraded, automated, gameplay-stripped Tlou wannabe.

A big no thanks from me.

Will pray for Bloodborne 2.

What you say you want and what you actually want are two very different things, my man.

You say you want an honest answer, but that won't change that Carson is gone. What you really want, and we all know it, is a controversy. You want a reason, factually, to get all uppity.

Well SM ain't playin'. You're gonna accept Teal'c of Chulak and like it.

GOW would have been my choice for which hack and slash to make more narrative driven lol.

A shame that they aren't popular there, though.

European gamers love narrative games. And Singstar.
Is this a pisstake? Because it still fucking annoys me to this day that whenever I fire up my PS3, I have to deal with that goddamned Singstar splash screen.

Might need to stop sniffing glue
Trump related issues are causing Sony to change the direction of GoW. They no longer care what Americans want. #fakenews

my man Lemondish I just want Carson back, the one true voice of Kratos. I could care less about some video game controversy. I just do not see a legitimate reason to why Sony dumped him. Imagine if Nathan Drake was voiced by someone other than Nolan North?

Can we expect DMC5 to be open world with long forced walking sections to grab those eurobucks?

I was thinking how cool a flushed out open world with demons in DMC5 would be. Imagine taking contracts as dante and going around town hunting demons. There better not be any forced walking sections. Lol.

I imagine they would like some actual nuance in the vocal performances this time around to match the new subtleties of a more intimate story and characterisation. Carson screamed at things and thats pretty much it...now don't get me wrong, he did a fine job at screaming, but i think this new title is aiming for a little more than that and his performance range just isn't there.

fair enough, it's just, :( i dunno man I feel like Kratos does not have a full complete soul without this man's voice. Carson is arguably versatile as well, he's done Mace Windu's voice in the star wars games

My mind wants me to think that maybe he just asked for more money and sony said no. My heart tells me sony just...decided to make this gow feel like a soft reboot of sorts to cut some ties with the OG trilogy/previous series.

In the end, it's not going to matter that much, or at all but I personally won't be able to forget it
