Finally, thank god. Who knows if EO will continue in the post-dual screen world, but it's a huge relief that we'll at least get to play 5. This has been one of my favorite RPG series lately... maybe my very favorite over the past two generations. Really relieved this one didn't get lost in the shuffle between P5 and the end of 3DS as a platform.

But man... The one SMT game not set in Japan is getting japanese only voice acting, ugh... I mean I'm grateful if that's what it takes for all these games to make it over, but that's mighty disappointing. I was looking forward to hearing Jimenez and Mastema.

One of them relies on dual screens, the other two are DS ports(that probably rely on dual screens too, idk haven't played them)

Switch deserves a lot of games but whining for those is just ridiculous smh


Great news, never got around on playing both of them, iirc they got rare-ish. I loved EO4 but what's 5's distinguishing feature? One of the things that really hooked me about 4 was the world map and sub dungeons, apparently those are gone now?

:( I love his style so much. It lent all those games such a sinister charisma and allure. I'm glad the personas and stuff in the Persona games still adhere to it.

People love to shit on the hardware, but by the end of its life the 3DS is going to have one of the GOAT handheld libraries IMO.

Etrian Odyssey V is day one for me.

Really glad it's confirmed. Will get EOV and SJR for sure. Not fan of the new art style in Radiant Historia. A bit surprised we are still getting 3DS titles in 2018.

So glad EO5 is coming. Can't wait for it. I'm stuck in Europe, could import and play thanks to Freakyhax but will probably want some DLC; Hopefully the FM soundtrack will make it.

Missed Radiant Historia on DS, and carts were expensive (low print run) last I checked.

People always talk about how great Strange Journey is, and Persona 5 had me really into and wanting more SMT style combat. May as well give it a shot!

Etrian Odyssey V has been on my want list since it released in Japan. I've never actually beat any EO games, but I find them highly relaxing, and the battle system fun.


I can't believe they announced them all at once. Based Atlus. 😭

radiant historia got a second print, prices are now are around 30-50

At this point the only other handheld in the discussion is the DS and thats pretty impressive considering the rough start the 3ds had.

Very pleased that friends will have an easy way to play Radiant Historia but I'm gonna have to get a confirmation that we're getting the original art DLC before I'm happy for myself.

Did it say it'd feature the japanese voices only or was it simply in japanese with no comments on it? I can't remember myself, but here we have the actual PR specifying it won't have english voices :/

Don't worry about it, Atlus absolutely loves bringing the shitty, exploiting DLC over.

It sucks though, I was always interested in this game and this version reminds me it exists, but the new art is such a downgrade that I doubt I'll play it unless the new stuff is truly significant and good.

Did they seriously redesign Eruca? Christ everything about the new art style is hideous. What a way to ruin an amazing game.

Excited for SMT at least.

I'm less surprised about Strange Journey not getting a dub than about Radiant Historia getting one. Curious how that will turn out (... and hopefully there'll be an option to turn voices off, with the new art direction I don't have high hopes for the voice direction).

What does the art style have to do with how Atlus USA will direct the voice work?

Etrian Odyssey IV is one of my all-time favorite games so I'm thrilled 5 has finally gotten an English release confirmation. Less interested in the other two - they're good games, but I'll have to see if the improvements are worth a second purchase.

Yay! EO5 and Radiant for me. Wasn't a fan of the original Strange Journey. In fact, it's one of my least favorite SMT games.

Never finished Radiant Historia, never finished any of the SMT games I played, but in for both ports/remakes/whatever.

It's not weird to me. SJ is a lot more niche gameplay wise and way more hard. It just has less of an audience so the resources are better off on something that will get more sales.

Uhh, did Radiant Historia really sell more than Strange Journey in the west? That doesn't sound right. Pretty sure it didn't in Japan, but I might be wrong.

The lack of English VA is even weirder considering the main characters are actually American. Oh well, I guess I don't really care that much.
