The Xbox Scorpio teaser video that was a released a few days ago contained a string of letters and numbers that when googled showed, among many other images, an image for a magazine cover that had "build this machine for $400" written on it.

Probably just a huge coincidence.

Ok, I didn't realize there were multiple images associated. At the time that seemed like such a cool hint. I tend to agree with the view that those willing to drop between $400-500 on a XBOX, in light of incoming price drops, are likely already invested in the ecosystem and $100 is not a dealbreaker. Even at $400, Scorpio doesn't seem to be a pull for new users. Has Scorpio been viewed as something that was going to flip PS only users? I don't understand those catastrophizing the $499 price point.

I've said it before. For what the consumer is getting that is a fair deal considering. However, it will not meet mass market appeal at all (and I doubt it would at $399). I wonder if third parties will support it more or less than the Pro.

The outrage that some display here is laughable.

He's a journalist. He's impartial and does not "owe" MS or Sony or anyone else for that matter anything.

Whether the $499 report is of any substance or not remains to be seen, but journalists should never hold back doing their jobs.

If it is $399, than what he has been doing for the past few hours isn't journalism. Still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
