This is really interesting reading this thread, because I thought the whole point of console gaming wasn't necessarily to get the very best graphics, I mean everyone knows that's what PC gaming is for. I guess these corporations figured out a lot of people still weren't comfortable messing around with PC's, because people are clearly willing to spend hundreds of dollars to buy a console twice for a slight graphics upgrade.

Yup, ever since the Pro was released this has been surreal.

The Scorpio does not have enough CPU brunt over the Pro or Xbone to propel games to 60fps if they were 30 before unless they were heavily GPU bound.

Moreover, the 6TF chip isn't enough to run games that were not able to get close to native 4K on the Pro to do so. The gap is small enough that what you can expect is games that run at 1800 checkerboard to now run at 4k checkerboard which perhaps some enhancements owing to the increased memory bandwidth and capacity. Mostly in the form of AF.

He could be right and wrong at the same time.

The S launched with an early version for $100 more. Scorpio could do the same thing, so a +1TB version could be 499, and regular SKU could be 399 a month later.

He could have a bad source, it could be a misinformation leak to expose the internal leak as well as surprise people with the actual price. Or he could be right and the price is in line with all the expectations from DF and other press and "concerned" people will show up en masse to decry how terrible and unexpected the price is.

Given the only thing to go on is his credibility, I'm not buying into his prediction, but I'm not writing him off as being malevolent or anything either. I'm sure he thinks he is sure, but at the same time as someone who has their own show and doesn't like leaks, its very unprofessional of him to be publicly speculating like this hours before the reveal.

Personally I think it's a great deal at either price, in Day 1 with a new 4k set this fall either way.
