It would be hard to find the right team though.

Maybe they should hire the AM2R guy.

It's true. I guess it depends on what Nintendo thinks is best for Metroid. Shooting for what fans love? Or going for something different to revitalize the franchise?

I know it's a joke at this point, and a pipedream, but I could really see a From Metroid game being fucking awesome - something in that style.

I think Platinum would get too glitzy with it. Metroid should be Nintendo's dark horse, it should be difficult, dark, creepy, Dead Space-ish crossed with some action and weapon-upgrade system that Metroid fans know and love.

When the other conferences underperform people look to Nintendo and go: Now they have to save E3 since they are the last to go. But it's not like Nintendo can magically make their announcements better just because the rest were subpar and they smell blood in the water. All they can do is show what they have, but it is positive for them at least that one of the best received games so far has been Mario + rabbids. Which is a weird thing to think about.

But what if they have 3 different spotlights ready to go and they're just waiting for Kimishima's approval to use the extra-spicy one.

:p

I hope tomorrow is at least decent. I'm not going to hype my expectations. I just want to come away from it feeling good. I normally don't really feel disappointed at E3 regardless of announcements. The MH:W thing actually did hit me which I find surprising. Mainly because even if the Switch gets anything new it's going to be years away now assuming it ever comes. This is Capcom after all and how they've been handling the Switch causes me to have no faith in them at all. So I want tomorrow to at least lift me from the spot I'm at now. Then again some sleep could do it to.

I want to hear about stuff from the following studios:
  • FromSoftware
  • Retro Studio
  • Platinum
A Metroid would be great too, from one of those studios or not.

As a multi year Nintendo E3 hype survivor, this year has been absolutely anemic in comparison. Probably less because there isn't much to expect, and more because we aren't desperately clinging to each other chanting "this will be the year wii u turns around!"

I'm usually a wreck with Nintendo E3 excitement but it snuck up on me this year and am excited but not even hyped.
Maybe I will be able to sleep tonight.
I've been having trouble sleeping for nights. Not really about excitement. Just it is so damn hot and I'm lethargic all day and bothered/restless all night...

So can we say Rabbids isn't one of their new announcements? Cause Ubisoft showed a LOT of that game and I don't think there's anything Nintendo would put out in the Spotlight that wasn't already shown at Ubisoft.

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
Before I go to bed, I must say one more prayer:

Let's find the key we've lost
As all the people cry in vain
Just try to live your life
The endless sky where I can fly
Tell me what you're thinking
Tell me what's your way
The end is always here
This world locked up in a war

There's a voice that saves your heart and my soul
The sun goes down with all my faults
So where's your feeling
And where is your life?
All the clouds, hang dark
No one is ever seen

Oh, this world locked up in a war

2017

Amen

Well thank God this is early tomorrow morning so we don't have to wait all day just to be (potentially) disappointed. If it's fantastic, then we have a whole day of excitement. If it's bad, we can still salvage the day IRL.

I don't expect anything out of this other than Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, ARMS, and maybe some quick Battle Kingdom recaps from today's announcement. Nintendo seems to have a focus on 2017 right now, and we aren't going to get a new AC game this year, or any Smash Bros, 4 Deluxe or otherwise.

It seems to me that Nintendo would just rather keep following their own schedule and announce games via Direct when development is close to wrapping up.

Nintendo always talks about showing games for the current year, but pretty much always shows at least one game that isn't.

I told my manager that I'll work in the office half day just so I could watch the presentation. There better be megatons later Ninty. By megatons I mean Animal Crossing... Please, please, please...

It's an Ubisoft game, with Ubisoft publishing in at least one region of the world with Ubisoft Day 1 Pre-order goodies that was revealed at the Ubisoft E3 Conference using Nintendo IP.

If anything, I expect some gameplay under the 3rd party sizzle reel and some screentime during Treehouse Live.

Seeing as we know most of what's coming I strongly feel like whatever they show from Retro will determine how people react to the whole thing.

-Retro no-show: Where were the surprises? Where was retro? What has Nintendo been doing?
-Retro making DKCR 3 or a party game or a remaster: Disappointing show, we already knew about almost everything, Retro are being wasted!
-Retro new IP: Great show, Retro redeemed, Mario looks great, life is wonderful.
-Retro making Metroid: Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh nintendo won e3 aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

There's no way Nintendo can't see this. I mean...right?

You know a Retro no-show would make me despair a bit, not going to lie. It just should be high time they showed, it feels.

I'll also be a bit despondent if they don't show something that speaks to me. They've never let me down at turning out core, single player content. I hope they continue in that vein, whatever IP is involved.

Yeah, this about sums it up.

I do agree with your conclusion, but

your memory fails you

Can't wait to see what games Autodesk has planned for the Switch.

But seriously, I'm pretty excited to see what Nintendo is up to. There are so many things I want on the Switch, they have the potential to really knock it out of the park tomorrow.

Man, you'd hope so, but it's Nintendo, so...

You know a Retro no-show would make me despair a bit, not going to lie. It just should be high time they showed, it feels.

Their track record is pretty much unblemished.

And I'm just a bit surprised that people don't expect to see their game, as we know that they wrapped work on DKC:TF in 2013 (despite it launching in 2014), so they've had the best part of 4 years to get ready. Yes they helped out on some MK8 tracks, but that's work for the artists to do while their game is in preproduction.

By all accounts, they SHOULD be ready for this.

I wanna hear this tomorrow.

Of all the fake leaks, Pilotwings + Wave Race was the one where I said, 'Holy shit I hope that's true.' A classic 'I didn't know I wanted that but I do' kind of gig.

Retro will be key, but good Japanese support or a good FE showing or a good non-Retro Metroid showing would offset their absence or disappointing showing a lot for me.

Thing is, these other things aren't so likely either.

Those are my last hopes too, since Splinter Cell didnt show up today

Only other game is a No More Heroes 3 trailer will make me happy if none of those show up

Also when you revealed(and already came out with) games like 3D mario and zelda, and even the "hope gets made" games like xenoblade 2, its kinda hard to predict what nintendo will even reveal, theres always a chance that yes, F-zero could be in development, but its more likely that F-zero will stay in the vault, you never know with nintendo.

Regardless of how Nintendo performs at the Spotlight, I'll be having ARMS to play at the end of the week instead of being bummed about games coming out in 2018.
