Only four 4 players? I'm not extremely familiar with MH but isn't that really a very small number of players for a probably big game world?

It's the standard party size. The world may be bigger, but monsters are designed around 4 players and it can already feel crowded because you're swinging around huge weapons that can knock your friends around.

Damage numbers are OKAY. I hope to god you can't see other players numbers. Thats when the elitest assholes start kicking players for not doing enough damage. Keep personal damage numbers to yourself, and be able to turn them off if you choose, and keep monster HP invisible.

I wonder if PC and Xbox would be cross play

Nope. Confirmed that no crossplay. Worldwide servers, but that really only means anything for PS4.

I would say avoid buying the XBOX version at all costs. That thing's gonna be deader than dead online. PS4 is easily the platform to go on it seems.

I really hope that doesn't mean it shows numbers each time you hit a monster.

Just turn it off in the options. Every game with hit numbers allows you to do that and I don't think this will be any different.

Honestly though, it's about time the game actually tells me how much damage I'm doing.

You can share digital licenses between two accounts, including psn+. The only condition is that one of the accounts must be always online to play the shared game, but you're intending to play online anyway

Looking at your scenarios, I wouldn't do any of those two things the way you worded them btw, if the only thing you care about is MH you shouldn't buy the system, much less two of them. If there are more things you're interested, that's different.

If you could link me to something to show me how to set this up so my wife and I can play an online game my PSN account (with PSN+) owns together (she doesn't own the game nor has PSN+) I would be seriously grateful. When I look it seems like we would both need a copy of the game and an active PSN+ account to do it.

I remember using a cheat code back in the PSP days that gave me enemy HP bars... and it felt dirty.

I reckon the PC version will be healthy too. A lot of people on there that would eat this shit up since it's a pretty hardcore game. Might not sell as many copies, but it'll have high activity I reckon.

It could just be an interview with the devs. I am hoping it's a demo though.

I'm hoping it'll be what they showed the guy on reddit, and on the 20th they give us a larger walkthrough of the systems or something. Though it'll probably just be dev interview. :[

Maybe, but it also seems like the type of game to fall off a cliff playerwise or just be full of hackers everywhere which would be a bummer.

MH World is confirmed to be the next main title developed by the main team at Capcom (as I've been saying here for a while) and it's the next MH release in the west according to Socksy.

I'm so excited for this. I'm bummed that we won't get MHXX here any time soon but I've been ready for MH World for years now. I will have it.

(I'll also just import MHXX in August to tide me over)

I had a weird worry when the trailer dropped but now with these impressions I cannot wait. Its gonna suck not having a portable hunter after over a decade of portable hunting but a PC version is all I have wanted at high fidelity.

I've chilled down to "maybe it could be acceptable in spite of itself" on this. It actually does have main staff on it and it's sounding like the underlying gameplay is actually likely right, whereas rumors pegged it as westernized and dumbed down, so that at least quells some of what would've pissed me off most.

All that said, if it succeeds for me at all, it'll be in spite of everything they've shown, not because of it.

Like, maybe stealth will be easy to ignore, impossibly dumb as it is. Tracking... tracking actually worries me above all else as that sounds harder to avoid and could slow crap down a lot.

Open/seamless world is eeeeeeh. I see zero real advantage to it (I guess no minor loading? But it's all about fighting monsters in arenas, so being in zones has never been something I wanted to see go away), but maybe it won't be that negative of an impact.

Destructible environment to effect the battle I'm meh on, sounds very take it or leave it to me. Monsters fighting each other I actively don't like, sounds freaking bad as an actual gameplay thing. Like, all that can do is make things waaaaaaay easier.

And then the new monster looks HORRIBLE to me, like possibly the least I have liked ANY large monster in the franchise, so it's worrying to me that they're leading with it.

Sure, fancy new graphics are nice I suppose (though honestly I was fine with janky old 3DS graphics, and much as it was gonna happen eventually... there's like zero percent chance this content matches the 3DS games in terms of monster count at all, and that's gonna hurt.), but I'm not liking all the stuff that comes along with it.

So I dunno, I'm still grumpy, but I'm less raging grumpy at least, and willing to wait to see more to hopefully at least mitigate some of what's rubbing me so wrong.

What is this assumption even based on?

This seems to cover every step clearly enough, you will need to create an acc for her if she doesn't own one.

Hope it's ok to post this here, it's been on many threads around the site before.

Main MH fanbase right now in the west is going to PS4 or PC and I don't see XBOX picking up that many new players so it's gonna be a ghost town with no crossplay. What segment of the Japanese fanbase that comes over will be PS4 only.

Main MH fanbase in the west either own a Wii U or a Nintendo 3DS.

They may as well own a PS4 and/or a XB1.

Your assumption is quite weak.

Dragon's Dogma had a healthy community on X360.

This.... does not answer the question lol

You can form a pre-hunt party/group, not just flares mid-hunts.

The bigger question is the format of the hunts. I assume it's the same old load up a mission, spawn a monster on a map and go which if that's the case then of course you'd still be able to party up.

I remember using a cheat code back in the PSP days that gave me enemy HP bars... and it felt dirty.

I don't need enemy HP bars but I'd really like to know how much damage each of my hits actually do. Like if I'm hitting the monster's chest, is it a weak spot? Is it doing less damage than the head? Etc.

That information feedback for the player is invaluable.

I personally think it will be a Dark Souls level success on PC ASSUMING it's a good port. Can't speak for consoles, but personally speaking, every Monster Hunter fan I know owns more gaming systems than just a 3DS, and I'm sure a solid majority of the fanbase will jump over.

Capcom. If you want to make me feel better, announcing Nargacuga's in this would be a good first step.

Get out of here. Astalos or bust.

I am a Switch owner but I was fine with PS4/XB1 getting a MH game. The more the merrier. Now everyone can do some Monster Hunting! It was great news. But now it seems to drum up sales for this new game they deny the West a game that is already essentially done? So we get no version of it at all? Not even the 3DS version?

A lot of people were looking forward to playing this game.

Not a good look Capcom.

DS also had extreme hacking issues on PC so we'll see. Getting into a game only to have hackers oneshot the monsters would be a huge bummer.

Also, Nargacuga is the best fight in all of MonHun. I'm sorry. I can't have it any other way.

Longsword adept style ruined everything though. It's so fucking op...

Yeah honestly I'll be ok if they don't bring back the styles. I was still having fun with MHGen, but it felt a bit ridiculous when I would be able to dodge anything or constantly jump around to mount the monster over and over.

And some of the new weapons just seemed to cover too many bases with their transformations -- kind of made some of the classic weapons feel obsolete. Hope they use World as an opportunity to kind of retool the weapons so each one has a place.

Only monster that I care about is Azure Rathalos. I know, hes relatively boring, but hes the prettiest mother fucker in the game and Id love to see him in HD....

...And then Ill kill him 50 times and steal his earplugs

To be fair I think Capcom will take cheating more seriously than From and Bamco, who after 3 games still has done little in anticheat.

The move after the evade is just insane ( like 80 motion and it's extremely fast ). It really breaks the game.

It does suck, but it's not surprising to me -- Japan got MHP3 on PSP but it was never brought over to western PSP audiences. Played a bit of it in japanese but the language barrier hurt my enjoyment. Next english game I played was on Wii and it was very light on content (though it did control well and I actually liked having it on console instead of handheld)

That rarely seems like a given for co op focused games, so we'll see. A lot of companies seem to go 'well no one can cheat and get an unfair advantage against someone so whatever'.

Id rather that be solved by in game armor skills, so it's something you have to actively prepare for.

And instead of something like damage numbers, I would rather have simpler solution where the blood/hitsparks are more intense depending on how weak the area you hit is, with varying levels of intensity depending on percentage of damage you do.

I think showing numbers would just confuse people because of Monster Hunters weirdly complicated damage formulas for every weapon.

Hopefully there'll be a way to limit it to play with friends and it won't be a big deal, unlike DS where randos can come in.
