Xbox One X - Available November 7 for $499

Same here! Have an Xbox One S and PS4 Pro. The Pro is strictly used for exclusives. Everything else is Xbox One S. The Elite controller, Xbox Live, Achievement system, backward compatibility and vastly superior library management all plays a part in this.

The Xbox One X just adds to this for me.
Yep, I'm wholly disappointed in the price, the Jaguar, the lack of story-driven blockbuster exclusives, but Xbox will be the primary console as long as developers keep making games for it and the ecosystem is healthy.

This is cool. From the Lucky Devs:

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2017-xbox-one-x-is-like-a-high-end-pc-developer/1100-6451009/

"From a developer's standpoint, [Xbox One X] is the most developer-friendly console we have ever worked with," he said. "Not just because the hardware is super over-powered--which it is. I don't understand how they ... it's like a high-end PC crammed into this tiny little box."

Bettner added: "The tools and support we had developing the game is the most advanced it's ever been. And I think that's because Microsoft hasn't necessarily been reinventing [with every new console], they've been refining and making it more powerful. This is the best version yet of the Xbox."

^Nice.

I've been thinking. Anyone wanna start a thread for Sunset Overdrive 4k? We have an active dev from Insomniac here on GAF. We need to get his attention asap.

I got juniored for trolling lol so I can't do it.

A simple, powerful explanation of why some of us do not choose the customization options and raw power of a high-end PC or the vast catalogue of
arguably overrated
Playstation exclusives.

I haven´t yet decided if I will buy an X, since the unofficial preorder prices are insane in my country (23.000 argentinean pesos, roughly $1500) and I won´t get a 4k TV at least until the 2018 Russia World Cup (when I expect that technology to become somewhat mainstream). That said, I like the proposal of a powerful, premium mid-generation option. Microsoft´s track record with console hardware is not exactly perfect, but this thing seems to have been very carefully designed.

I didn't want to buy it at that price, but damn it if I haven't been convinced that it's worth it. Diving in, current Xbox one when sold should ease price shock. Hyped.

Here's to buying a Xbox One X for that sweet Sunset Overdrive, Rare Replay, Rockstar Presents Table Tennis, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Catherine, Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2!

I'll cross my fingers and wait for the trade in deals to roll in. I have a slim and S now and happy as a clam. I'm looking into the One X because I have more games on it and also intend to buy most if not all multiplats on there.

Hope they announce a 2tb option.
Although they said all my Xbox One stuff will work, does that include my external HDD?

Sacrifice yourself for us Izuna, and maybe I'll think about shitting on Ninja Gaiden in the back compat thread 😉

I am never sacrificing this member status. Another junior is a perm XD

And you can't shit on Ninja Gaiden because you know it's the best.

So, as an owner of an Xbox One S since last November what kind of upgrade am I making for shelling out another $500 for this system?

This will be the third Xbox One since the system launched. This thing had better be incredible for $500.

If you aren't sure wait until it gets released and decide.

As for the third system launched that's common over the span of years. How many 360 launched. Sony has three SKU's out now.

Not sure if this is new thread worthy, but MS just put the E3 conference on-demand in 4k through the Xbox One Dashboard. It was not like this a day or so ago, when you watched the non-mixer on-demand feed it was not in 4k, but this morning it is. I watched the presser on Mixer at 4k, but the on demand is streamed direct and not as many people watching at the same time like the presser and the quality is a little better. It is 4k/HDR on demand.

U can prob get decent $ for the S? I am in same boat hoping for a $150 trade in credit at least.

I think it really depends in some factors, such as if you own a 4K TV and how sensitive you are to the upscaling the games will get. I think if you're still unsure, your best bet would be to wait for the release and check some analysis as some games starts to get support, this may give you a better idea of how much this upgrade will be worth it.

I wanna know if they will be generous to the OG Xbox One owners. I dropped $500 on it, and I'd like to see them give a little more for those people to upgrade. I'll keep my fingers crossed but don't expect anything significant, hopefully $100 🙄

Did you ever have an Xbox One? I'm thinking about upgrading to the S because of the HDR, but I'm not sure it's worth it. I already have HDR on my PS4 and TV, but some reason I'm unsure about spending extra for it on another console. Depends how much 'better' the S is.

Do you find it to be a worthwhile upgrade on the PS4?

Buying a new console that's largely the same just for HDR functionality seems like not the greatest idea to me, but you do you. If you have it on the PS4 and buy most third party exclusives there, I can't imagine having a few Xbone exclusives in HDR are worth that kind of hassle.

That's a good point, though I feel I am missing out a bit by not having HDR available on the Xbox. I've spent about five days in Wildlands and I'm sure HDR would have made that experience even more immersive.

I'm also wondering if the console as a whole would be worth, for example if the 4K upscaler was particularly good versus a TV, for example.

Would it make sense to make petitions so older exclusives like SO, Quantum Break, Ryse etc. would get support?

I mean it is the way to go with 360 backwards compatibility games, so why not?

Problem is that devs need to resources to do that. And that costs money. Where BC is all done by MS itself. Also like Sunset Overdrive never got a PC release or something. So its not that they have already 4k assets they used for PC.

But Sunset Overdrive is a treasure that should be preserved no matter the cost...:(

With that in mind does RoTTR, QB and Ryse make sense then, as they had pc-releases.

I agree tho.
Tomb Raider i see happening. Just because its not that old and done before. QB could. But the whole game and technique the game uses for resolution was never planned for PC and it didnt really came out the best. Ryse i dont see happening. Just because its already 4 years old and dont think Crytek has the resources. Love to be wrong tho.

The devs posted multiple times here on GAF that they want a PC version. Sadly something seems to be in the way.

I'll be blown away of Tomb Raider doesn't get an update, considering the marketing deal they had for it.

Sunset would be awesome too, but I doubt I'd replay it.

My guess is that the only way it happens is if MS ponies up the money for it. It seems like they are doing just that for a select number of games if I'm parsing their words from the E3 presser properly.

See, this is good to hear.

And hopefully the same can be said for Sony's next system. Or even the Pro. If not, I hope this doesnt mean quicker 1st party Xbox games and the same time frame for multi platform games.

If it does, may have to rethink my 'no buy on One X til price comes down' stance, lol.
