Holy shit.

I plugged it into my TV and it worked fine.

I plugged it back into my monitor and its now working fine.

WHAT IN THE FIGGETY FUCK????!!!!!!!

I'VE LITERALLY SPENT 6 HOURS TRYING TO FIX THIS OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS AND UNPLUGGING THE HDMI AND PLUGGING IT BACK IN FIXED IT!!!!
HDMI issues can be hair-pulling

Sometimes it’s a ‘handshake’ problem, and powering the TV or monitor all the way off and back on can fix it. Could have also been a loose connection maybe?

Okay so I set everything back up and turned the hacked system back on with my monitor...no sound.

Unplugged HDMI and plugged it back in....and there's sound again.

Whatever, I don't mind unplugging and plugging it in every time I start the system.

Makes no sense....I don't care...I'm happy :)

Being able to execute the original games without them taking space is great, but I assume this prevents you from changing their covers and thumbnails, right?

I have my SNES hooked up to my AVR, then to the TV,

Whenever I do a resync, as soon as Hakchi2 is done and the SNES restarts, I get a picture but no sound. I just have to power the console off/on to get sound back.

If I hook the SNES up to my monitor, I don't have this issue. So it's certainly an HDMI handshake issue, but one with an easy fix in my case.

This isn't very clear for Windows 7 users... :(
Sorry. I'm not sure if this fixed mine or not. I'm using Windows 8.

Sweet, good you got it to work.
Ok I fixed it but here's my next problem there are certain games where i'm trying to run them through retroarch , I put —retroarch but i get an error booting the game.
Type "space--retroarch"

Not the actual word space 😉

This is so cool. Never had an SNES, what am I missing outside of Chrono Trigger, Harvest Moon, the other Donkey Kongs, and the other Mega Mans?

I have yet to do this for my NES or SNES classics. I'm really dumb at this sort of stuff and I'm terrified that I'll mess up and break my systems.

But I want Chrono Trigger on the system so badly. :(

I think only the ROMs are in the read-only section since I managed to flip the _small.png of the original games to save space on the bottom row.

EDIT: Nvm, this is about a newer version of Hakchi, still using 2.20.14 here.

It is so easy, I suck at this sort of thing as well and I modded my NES and SNES classic in less then 10 minutes. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine.

Due to my hdmi sound issue, I literally hacked and unhacked my system 15-20 times and it’s super simple to do even when using a virtual desktop as I am a Mac user.

Is there a good repository of Box Arts at the correct size anywhere yet? Before I go and download edit files other people have already put the hard work into?

Oh, and how do I blow out the previous games I installed? I see 0.5mb space taken, but the game isn't in the list for me to remove or update...

I restored my console back to normal before the hacks and that fixed it but everything started acting stupid once I connected it to the new version of the hack tool.
Same here. Your pictures you have that have that zig zag line, try resizing those images in "paint" or something. Or try a different picture altogether. I guess it's no longer a problem if you decided to go to a different version of hakchi too.

I upgraded to the latest hakchi, but it seemed to fuck up my SNES CE, so I went back to 2.20.15 and everything is cool now.

I don't know where to find my kernel dump, because hakchi just seems to live as an executable on it's own and not in a folder of it's own?

If you used the web installer (bad person) then you'll find hakchi's stuff in your Documents folders.

If you used the web installer, it's located in My Documents/Hakchi. The kernel dump is in the "Dump" folder in that location.
My install put it straight to my OneDrive cloud, for some reason.

my top recommendations: Actraiser, Aladdin, Alcahest, Arcana, Axelay, Final Fantasy IV & V, Hagane, Lufia 2, Mickey's Magical Quest, On the Ball, R-Type III, Soul Blazer, Sutte Hakkun, UN Squadron, Wild Guns

and about a dozen more japan-only jrpg and srpg translations if you're into that (fire emblems, front missions, shiren the wanderer, brandish 2, treasure of the rudras)

I dont know enough about SD3 to know how the menus should look but I managed the intro fine and took control of my character all fine.

SSF2 boots and plays fine for me in the snes mini emu, no retroarch, im not using that for anything. 100% not joking, I've fought a few stages and it plays fine.

quick shakycam of me booting SSF2, I don't have retroarch on for any game.

That's really weird. What's the MD5 hash of your Super Street Fighter II ROM?

Seiken Densetsu 3 has always booted and played just fine, but the image quality in the character selection screen and in the menus is all blurry, like it had been smeared with vaseline.

Compare this screenshot with what you're getting on the SNESC:

So does Seiken Densetsu 3 work natively now with the new version of Hakchi?

The game is totally playable, but, as I said, the text in menus is very blurry.

Sorry for the slightly unrelated question but does the Japanese SNES (or Famicom if you prefer) classic have an English menu? - or the ability to add one via this hack?

Im tempted to pick up one as I prefer that design, but sadly can't seem to find the EU version in my territory right now.

I don't think it does by default, but you're gonna have one hell of a time finding one of them anyways. Didn't you see the lines?

Good luck anyhow. Maybe try ordering one when you can?

GAME sent out alerts to people this morning for stock, and facebook group GGG (uk based) is full of people selling them for around £100. Pardon me for mentioning this in the modding thread, just trying to help.

Thank you & Angelic for the heads up:
I live in HK (British expat) and the stores here have a ton of American and Japanese stock but sadly I haven't spotted a European unit yet, will give it a little while before I either cave in and buy the US or Japanese unit.

- Sorry for the derail

Has anyone tried playing any of the Goemon games? I went through the list in the OP but could not find it.

All of them work fine. English translation for Goemon 2 is incoming before end of the year according to the translator over at ROMHacking. Game is still playable in Japanese but you may need to consult with a FAQ every so often. Same with 4, although no translation work has even started for this - shame as I think this game is easily top tier SNES :(

Goemon 3 is pretty much unplayable if you don't speak Japanese as it's a lot more RPG-focused.

Send the system to Nintendo for repairs.

Better yet - from the Kernel Menu Select Uninstall and when asked wether you want to reflash the Stock Kernel select yes and do it. That will bring the system back to the state fresh out the factory. You can then start anew with the hacks.

It's pretty hard to get the SNES mini into a state that can't be fixed. That's due to the fact that flashing the hack actually uses the factory recovery mode (so basically we're using the same feature of the base hardware that Nintendo uses to get the software on there in the first place).

All I would say to you is a bird in the hand ;) You could grab one and pick up a Euro one down the line, I've really enjoyed this thread for the last few days, it's a lot of fun testing games, making boxarts, seeing everyone's SNES enthusiasm coming out. I was 15 when I got my SNES and consider it my formative console, so all this discussion is brilliant for me,

Thank you for the response. Can read some Japanese so will give it a go. Cheers!

In that case, I'd grab whichever unit I could get my hands on. They're hard to come by here in the US.

Awww yeah, finally got games to go on the Mini.

Almost all games work great.

Cho Aniki: Bakuretsu Rantou Hen runs perfectly fine on BSNES on my mac, but does not run in Canoe nor Snes9x on the Mini. I'm not sure why, but I haven't looked into it too much.

I have not been able to get The Legend of Zelda Parallel Worlds Remodel to work, but I may be patching it wrong.

I was very surprised that Super Boss Gaiden, the homebrew Super Nintendo x Playstation game, works natively in Canoe.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo running through retroarch's cps2 works, but it's a little laggy. All other cps2 games, and Neo Geo games, haven't worked for me yet, but I haven't tinkered with it enough.

Otherwise, I have a question for you guys: For those of you adding around 100 games to your Mini, are you organizing them into folders? If so, what's your folder structure like?

Originally, I was organizing everything by genre, but the Mini doesn't like it when there's less than 10 games to scroll through, so it looked bad in some spots. On the other hand, not using folders is it's own nightmare of endless scrolling to the game I want.

So, I'm curious what others are doing.

Just fyi, I have the same problem, but I had it even before hacking it.

I have one and that’s no and at the moment no. There is almost noth8ng to ever change in the GUI so the language isnt an issue.

I’m in Singapore so grabbed a US and Jap version.
