Monster Hunter Tri G (3DS) Update Thread

So with the rumored sales around 400,000 is that meeting, beating, below expectations? I seem to remember someone saying capcom was low-balling their own estimate.

So, should I wait for this? Or pick up Tri for my Wii? Is Tri G just a better version of the same game or are their differences?

Is like an expansion with new areas, new monsters, weapons, etc. Also enhanced graphics plus 3D will make it like a completely new experience.

And like in the wii version, no online in it's Japan release. But if the west gets online then it's pretty much the definitive version of MH3.

Japanese version has onlines, it's just not free.

If 3G doesn't have online in the west, you may consider picking up tree if you want to hunt with others with ease.

Tri is online, so you can play that now, or you can hold on to hope that the localisation of MHTriG will have online too. Up to you.

Personally, I can't not recommend the game to any Wii owner. It's great!

I always found it kind of surreal that MH has always been subscription-based in Japan. It's got fewer persistent, MMOish, server-needing features than PSO, even. That's Capcom for you, I guess...

Figured the bundle must have been low (20k, jesus), that thing sold out immediately. I still want it (and would pay mark-up), but I have since purchased a 3DS, so oh well.

Iwata asks
They talk about MH4 in the last part, can anyone translate?

http://andriasang.com/comz6r/monhan4_iwata_asks/

Regarding the September video, Iwata noted that many were wondering how Capcom would be able to make the scenes shown in the video playable. While Fujioka did not share any gameplay specifics about 4, he replied that the footage was real time footage of the game being played by the staff.

Development on 3G and 4 have been progressing simultaneously, Fujioka and Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told Iwata. However, the 4 team has learned a lot from 3G's development, both in terms of working with the 3DS hardware, and a few development paradigms as well.

3G's development took place over a relatively short time, forcing the team to continuously show results. There was also a feeling of speed about 3G's development, almost to the point where they'd say "if you're not sure, just put it in."

For 4, the staff is under a considerable amount of pressure, and Fujioka feels that if they were to carry out development as they have in the past, there is the possibility that they would fail. So, they feel the importance of, as with MH3G's development, continuously showing results. The September trailer was one of the first example of a showing a result for MH4.

Details on Streetpass features! http://andriasang.com/comz6z/monhan3g_spot_pass/

(I'm assuming that Anoop made a typo here and really meant Streetpass rather than Spotpass)

Monster Hunter 3G makes use of the 3DS's Spot Pass functionality for a variety of wireless features. Now five days before the game's release, Capcom shared screens and details for this area of the game today.

POST OFFICE
To change the game's SpotPass settings and manage your SpotPass data, you'll want to speak to the red hatted Felyne in the harbor area. He's referred to as the Post Office.

GUILD CARD
All Monster Hunter 3G players have a guild card. It holds your character information and other bits about your hunting life. The game uses Spot Pass to exchange these with other players.

You can edit your Guild Card, adding a title (based off the titles you get when clearing certain conditions in the game), adding an introduction message, and selecting a pose and background for your character.

GUILD CARD BOX
The guild cards you receive from other players via Spot Pass are stored in the Guild Card Box, which is accessible at the post office.

FURATTO HUNTER
The characters from the hunters with whom you've exchanged Guild Cards will appear in the harbor pub. You can pay them to complete special quests, and you'll get the rewards in return.

Pictures are at the link.

He's a portable guy only.

furhtering the idea that Portable and "the mainline" are going their seperate ways, maybe?

<--- Portable .................Frontier ----> ...............................................One/Dos/Tri/Four ------->

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Oh man the StreetPass stuff sounds like fun. Personally some new monsters or tweaks really aren't enough for me to get back into this game after Wii Tri. But now I do feel like being left out. I want random people's guild cards.

I don't care what he works on cause they generally sucks.

Agreed
and 3G is going to be super awesome because it's based on Tri.

only good MH's are on Nintendo hardware, any clown knows that Jonnyram! tsk tsk.

Nintendo hardware - it's what plants crave. (tm)

I know that you're objection to portable might not be to do with any of that, however, i've seen other people argue that Tri is great but other MH (like MH3rdP) are rubbish. I'm sorry - if you can't enjoy 3rdP but are expecting to love 3G then .... yeah... that's bollox.

Actually, interestingly enough, it's based on both. This game is as much Portable 3rd G as it is Tri G. Which one it sits closer to is a mystery for now (we still don't know how the difficulty has been balanced here).

Game is completely based on Tri, with some monsters added from 3rd.
