So what games are we looking forward to next year? On top of my head, we still have Infinity Blade Dungeons, Real Racing 3, Splosion Man, Super Meat Boy, Joe Danger...

Final Fantasy Type-0 ::crosses fingers that this didn't get cancelled:: or was this debunked already?

Skipping BG1 but am looking forward to BG2 EE due to all of the reviews that seem to indicate that being the definitive Bioware game.

Frozen Synapse is still on route, they blogged about beta feedback and a UI overhaul last month.

LoG may not be vaporware, the developer posted a pic of it running on an ipad in their offices on toucharacdee forums (unless the pic was a fake...)

Ran out of space on my 64GB iPad, fuck! I always thought I could easily justify to myself upgrading to an iPad 5 with smaller space, but obviously that's not the case. Funny thing is I've got probably 20GB of games to be installed from iTunes too.

Quick question regarding The Walking Dead - is it entirely linear? I thought that your choices had an effect in later games, but I didn't realise iOS apps could load saves from other IPAs.

Thanks

Text adventures on a device that doesn't have a physical keyboard. Hmmm.
There are ways it makes that easier, letting you touch any words on screen to use them in phrases. It also works great with a bluetooth keyboard. Really nice port, but it's sadly missing the Douglas Adams games.

All The Walking Dead episodes are in the same app.

Bugger, that'd be the only reason I'd actually consider getting it. I was being somewhat facetious with my post (the idea of text adventure games without a keyboard just seems bizarre) and I'm sure they would work around it, but... yeah, no Hitchhiker's is a bummer.

Waking Mars is designed specifically for touch, and controls brilliantly.

Bastion controls well, but is virtual buttons and d-pad.

Bastion also has touch screen controls that work extremely well (no d-pad). Easiest $1 purchased can recommend. Great game.

Man, Karateka seems pretty nifty but it runs horribly on my iPhone 5 and doesn't even support proper 16:9 aspect ratio. I expected more from such a release.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Played a bit of Rad Soldiers, up to level 9, it's quite good indeed. But I don't like all the coin stuff, it doesn't feel right to be able and acquire weapons and troops in such a way, it doesn't seem balanced like, for example, X-COM tech research that unlocks new weapons, especially since this is mostly multiplayer with botmatch-like challenge levels on top, plus the good stuff are all too expensive pushing you to buy them with money. The interface for that needs work too, unless I missed the compare to currently equipped option. But yeah, add a proper campaign and I'd pay for it, like I plan to do for Warhammer.

Oh, it also looks very nice and yet doesn't kill the iPad2 battery like some other good looking games (recent Sky Gamblers).

I was playing Punch Quest to finally level Gnomey to 50 for the first time so I could get at least one Ultra Hat from him before updating the game. I burst out laughing at the godhood animation and the following Gnomey claiming he's the real deal and that the previous one was a fake. :lol

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
The Lost Treasures of Infocom app is really worth trying. They spent some time making the interface touch friendly, even if it would obviously work better on tablets than a phone. You can pull up the original map while in game, and create label icons for frequent words as much as you want. Plus you can browse all the original materials, quite a loving package.

You do realize you can import your BG1 character in to BG2 (allowing for a higher level and stronger starting character than the default), the story of BG2 is a continuation of BG1, BG1:EE has been remade to use the BG2:ToB engine, so aesthetically this version of BG1 is the same as BG2 will be (you can even use the BG2 kits in BG1 character creation), and playing BG1 first will greatly familiarize you with the game world / rules BG2 throws at you making your BG2 experience more pleasant? Unless you just don't have time, there's no reason to outright dismiss it given you can't even play BG2EE for another year and there isn't exactly a wealth of similar RPGs to play instead on the iPad.

So an iPhone game that I worked on is out now...It's called pHelix and it's free!! It's in the same vein as Dr. Mario and Tetris with an additional character creator in the game as well. Download it, check it out, and definitely give me any feedback on it. We are doing a soft launch right now, getting some feedback (still making final tweaks), so any help in that area would be greatly appreciated!

I still haven't picked up Pocket Clothier or the other recent Kairosoft title. I know PC is on sale for $1.99. Anyone wanna share their thoughts? Bought Rayman Jungle Run and Sonic CD yesterday.

Edit: Thanks chub! Took code number 2. I didn't win this from Wario on Twitter so nice timing for me to come into the thread. :)

BG2 + ToB is my top PC RPG ever, ever. Wizardry 8 and Might & Magic VI are close but it still beats them out. I put over 300 hours into it and would rather play them on PC if I'm going to replay them (for many reasons), but I've decided to pick up BG to see how it works on the iPad, and that will help me make my decision about whether to pick up 2 or not when it comes around.

Hooray, Cook, Serve, Delicious got an iPad review from Touch Arcade! 4.5/5! :D

http://toucharcade.com/2012/12/21/cook-serve-delicious-for-ipad-review/

Two more iPad codes hidden in this post as well, enjoy! (quote to reveal)

Eh, I was really delighted to see your game reviewed earlier.
Good job, man.

For my part, I have finally received my ipad yesterday and still in the process of installing things on it. Can't really say more, need to take some quality time with it first.
But I have a strange experience with the simpsons tapped out. Never was fluid on ipad 1 but it seems the upgrade doesn't really shine on this one. I have sort of a rubberband feel. Scrolling is not perfectly fluid and when the collectables pop out of the houses it's hyper fast. Really makes for a strange and not particularly good experience. Just a tiny detail evidently, not so much into the game and it sure as hell don't speak for the power of the hardware.

So much to install and play. I must try Middle manager, was always tempted by the art style. And there is RAD soldiers. And evidently the Cook serve delicious that Chubi gave recently here. And, and...
I think I'm slow to install things on it because I know that I will be sad to see hard disk space is never enough :p

Edit -
By the way SeanR1221, Punch Quest has an iCloud support option, can't speak for it as I haven't reinstalled it.
And Tiny Tower doesn't have iCloud but Nimblebits must have servers of their own. When you launch it on another device the game asks you if you wanna use the save that's present on their end.

Hey hey, that game is awesome! Unless you are doubting it will make it out. It's very pick up and play, yet also is a game you can sit there playing constantly. Plus it will control like a dream on iOS.
