If anyone wins Lemonade Tycoon and feels like dropping a code on a new iPad owner, I'd love you forever... I've won Sims 3 two days in a row.

So what is the current thinking on Baldur's Gate? I heard it had some issues at launch but I'm not sure where it stands now. FWIW I never played the original and about to go on vacation so wanted something to play during downtimes.

Alextended: Shogun: Rise of the Renegade is god damn amazing, especially with iCade. Probably the closest you'll get to an iCade Cave shmup.

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Yeah, looked cool, but I am not into bullet hell shmups, I'll probably get it at some point just to have one though.

Are you saying Cave games don't support iCade? So lame, more devs need to support it.

What are some good local multiplayer action games for iPad (2-4p)? One or more iDevices required is fine. I own all the board games but thinking stuff like Spaceteam, OLO, and Ice Rage.

Thanks for the awesome list, just bought a bunch of these.

Keep doing the initial training until you get a very rare 5*! (reinstall, play again, uninstall ... repeat)

I was about to start this up-can you explain this in more detail please?

In other news, I bought Arc Squadron on launch day but finally started last night-and it's so awesome.

Trying Puzzles & Dragons, anything I ought to know or any good newbie primer out there?

For me personally, it took me awhile to get used to getting multiple matches. I kind of played it like bejeweled, matching one set at a time and not moving the gems around very much. You're given a set time once you move a gem, so use up all the time they give you and get as many combinations as possible.

Save your magic stones for Rare Egg machine pulls and making your box larger. Don't bother using them to refill stamina or revive. You could also keep replaying the tutorial in order to get a good rare monster but I don't think its necessary.

Going through the tutorial nets you 5 magic stones and they make you use it on the rare egg machine. Some people keep doing it until they get a God type monster.

I got a $15 iTunes gift card for Christmas and I'm wanting to get an rpg. The three games I'm currently looking at are final fantasy 4, baldurs gate, or ravensword. Which one should I get?

Depends of your taste, if you like japanese RPGs more get FF4 or CRPG for Baldur's Gate. Ravensword is like an elder scroll game that feel lifeless as fuck.

More EA Spin Codes, anyone? I decided to go through and get a few more for folks who might want certain ones but don't have the time.

Just PM me what you want from what I've got:

1x Sims 3
1x Lemonade Tycoon
2x Mirror's Edge
3x Battlefield 2 Bad Company
6x SKATE IT

These are iPod touch and iPhone apps. The only iPad compatible one is Mass Effect.

Thanks for Tetris!

So regarding Into the Dead, is the general consensus to delete your game, restart and get stuck on an objective like "beat your high score without using a weapon", grind out 55,000 coins, and get the mini-gun only? Because that's why my sister is currently doing and I'm afraid she'll destroy my high score. I don't see a down-side to this seeing as the revolver, grenade and rifle are totally worthless past 5000m.

Fantastical

Death Prophet
Wow, The Room (Pocket) is awesome. Outside of it not recognizing what I actually want to be doing sometimes, I'm really enjoying it.

I love the mood of the game. There's something I found super creepy about Myst when I was a kid, and this kind of gives me the same feelings.

Toon Shooters is a shmup with a pretty fun 2 player mode. There's a lot of homage to rtype.

how are the controls in FFVI? I've been wanting to play that game for the longest time, and the Ipad is something that I actually carry around with me all the time

Just bought an iPad 4 to complement my iPhone 5. I am now fully aboard the iOS train.

Chaos Rings 2 is 50% off and I still don't know if I want to buy it at $11.

Looking for a really good rally game but with an arcade feel to it. Maybe like a Sega Rally/Rally Sport type of feel. Are there any like this on IOS?

Bought the first one a while back when it was on sale, forced myself to play it for a few hours, and finally gave up once I realized it wasn't going to get any better. When those games initially came out, RPG pickings were slim, but I think even SE has now given us far better options to choose from.

Check out Monster Burner if you haven't yet.

In each level, you have to prevent monsters from reaching the bottom of the screen, just flick the screen to launch fireballs.

I, for one, enjoy a good action/dungeon RPG over turn-based. I have 100 Rogues and Legend of Heroes, but I am playing Heroes of Pen and Paper.

After more than 50 games under the belt (I spent almost all Christmas holidays in the Ardennes) I can safely say Battle of the Bulge is one of the best games I ever played.
It's easy to learn, incredibly deep, absurdly polished (very few games come close to this level of slickness) but more importantly is so fun.
I love in particular the fact you can spend hours thinking about your next move, but you can actually take your turn in less than 10 seconds....it's the perfect async game.
And no two games are equal...I was really confident to always beat the AI when all of a sudden I start losing and barely managing to get a draw.
And I have yet to see what happens after the 23 December.
Highly recommended, probably my new GOTY.

Slighly off topic....tired of battling with cables in bed in the middle of the night...I'm searching for a decent pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones (if they exist)...any suggestions?
They have to be small and comfortable in bed, decent sound, and...dunno, anything else I should check?

Baldur's Gate! It's amazing and deep and wonderful. FF is FF. Ravensword is budget.

Actually just started FF4 the other day, 'normal' seems hard enough for me, I'm glad they included it. I also LOVE how they've changed what happens when you die. It seems that on normal if you die in a fight, you just respawn exactly where you died as if the fight never happened. This makes me so happy, I stopped playing FF4 on DS because of the crazy save system (especially coming off DQ games), so this is a treat. I may actually finish this game!

i've very almost 'finished' Baldur's Gate now. I've been through almost all the sword coast stuff (apart from one fight that I'm not even sure I can win, so I'm skipping it). Really impressed, and kinda shocked that I almost missed the expansion content, they make it quite hard to access if you're not thinking right. But it's also somewhere you should stay away from unless you're level 6 at least. I'll wait for a patch to fix the ending and then finish this badboy off for good.

They're fine. Virtual anywhere dpad, tap to interact. Honestly they feel a little bit like iPhone controls scaled up, but it's very usable. The menus are a bit ugly though and a touch slower than they need to be.

Is that an option you can turn off? I certainly don't mind when devs make something more accessible, I just don't like being forced into it. I prefer the archaic save system for these type of games. :D

I bought these just for that reason (and so I can play while the wife is watching TV or whatnot) I really like them and the hold the charge a long time. Plus you can make them wired if you want!

Cut the Rope, Real Racing 2, Ravenmark, World of Goo, Jetpack Joyride, Squids, Arc Squadron, Into the Dead, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayers, Temple Run, King of Dragon Pass, Avernum: Escape from the Pit, Kingdom Rush, Tiny Wings, Azkend, New Star Soccer, Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy, Flick Pig, Death Rally, Zookeeper Battle, Swordigo, etc. A couple of these may be iPad only, or not to your tastes. A couple are also not great in the long run but worth seeing.

Thanks!
I was searching something smaller tough, like in ear or something like that without the arc, easily wearable while in bed.
Still searching, the Apple store seems to have something like that.
